Thank you, NetGalley, for the advance copy of the audiobook of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay Donovan is back! She and her nanny/accountant get wrapped up in another big mess when they discover that someone wishing Finlay’s ex-husband Steven harm has put a hit out on him. Finlay takes on the task, not for the $100,000 but to find out who wants her ex dead and to stop them. Steven, not realizing the danger he is in despite Finlay repeatedly trying to tell him, is pursuing shared custody of their two young children. Finlay must discover who wants her ex dead to save him and make sure her children aren’t in harms way. Oh and there’s a hot law student and a hot cop both vying for Finlay’s affection plus Vero has something to hide. Finlay must save her ex, untangle her love life and figure out exactly what Vero is hiding.

I really liked this audiobook. The narrator was really good, giving a voice to each character and keeping my interest. And as a sequel, this book did not disappoint! I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I had high hopes for this audiobook. Expectations exceeded! There was a lot of action but definitely some character development as well as we get to know each character and their story even better.

This was a well written book with some clever parts, laugh out loud sections and even some heavy emotions. The story was just plausible enough to not be distracting and the way the door was left open for a third book in the series - let’s just say I can’t wait for the next one!

Full disclaimer: I listened to 70 percent of this audio before it froze on Netgalley Shelf. When I tried to jump ahead by chapter, it jumped to 94 percent and told me I wasn't authorized to view the title so...I can't justify more of a star rating since I couldn't finish it.

Based off roughly 3/4 of this book, I continued to enjoy Finlay's book inspiration stemming from the hot mess express that is her life. Is it a little outlandish? Yes. Does it have those moments like in a scary movie when you watch the character make a series of obviously awful decisions? Yes. However, if you are looking for some escapism and an easy read as we continue to try to navigate our own chaos of a covid world, Finlay may just do it for you.

I can't speak to the ending, though I have my suspicions, so take this review as you will.

Thank you to Macmillan and Netgalley for the gifted copy.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this title in return for my honest opinion.

Finlay and Vero are back for part two of an absolutely hysterical and crazy ride!

Finlay yet again is stuck in a writer’s block when unexpected inspiration falls into her lap. Someone from an online forum wants her ex-husband dead, the Russian mafia is back, Vero is keeping suspicious secrets and she’s got Mr Hot Cop Nick popping back into her life. This book is an absolute fantastic follow on to the first in the series.

I have ANTICIPATING this release since I finished this read last year and this book did not disappoint! This book had me cackling within the first chapter reminding me how much I’ve missed Finlay and Vero’s world. These two with their antics and shenanigans are my favorite character duo of all time! I consumed this book within a 24 hour time period needing to know what was going to happen next. The audiobook experience is phenomenal. Angela Dawe really brought these character to life and did such a fantastic jobs with all the voice acting adding in more character than most audiobook narrators I’ve listened to. I definitely want to look into anymore works she has narrated.

As for the story, it’s even more twisty, turny, hysterical and crazy than the first book. Seeing as this is the second book to the series all I can really say is any reader who liked the first book will enjoy the second. I love how much more in depth we are learning about our main characters and look forward to discovering more. This book will have you laughing and also sitting on the edge of the seat.

I personally don’t care about any realistic sense of the plot or character’s actions in relation to how things would go in the real world. This book is more meant for individuals who like themselves a cozy mystery and escapism.

Elle Cosimano has definitely become an auto-buy author for me and this is hands down one of my favorite series of all time. If anyone asks for a book recommendation from me they will definitely get these two books plastered to both sides of their face with me hollering READ IT NOOOOWWW!!!

After finishing the first book, the ending of it made me extremely excited to get my hands on this one and it did not disappoint!! Finlay and Vero are back with their fantastic chemistry and messes they get helplessly tangled into, and it's so lovely to see a female MC whose main support is a fellow woman instead of a male love interest. This book delves deeper into Fin's relationships with the people around her and of course gets her even more entangled in the web of chaos that's spinning around her. I'm sure the main audience for these books is straight and adore the two men vying for Finlay's love, but I really do think a developed relationship with Vero could be beautiful if it blossomed into something more—I can get on board with romance novels, but as someone who is not exactly the target of adult love triangles, I struggle with the moments caught up in her relationships with Nick and Julian. However I do love that the romance is a backburner plot and the main focus is on Fin's life. Overall a fun follow-up to the first book and it left me really wanting a third!!

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to provide an hinest review.
The second in the Finley Donovan series, Finley Donovan Knocks em Dead keeps pace with the first with its humor, fun mystery, and segway for the next in series. The narrator was enjoyable to listen to and seemed to capture the characters personalities well. She nailed all of the accents and made each character stand out from the other.
If you haven't started this series yet, it's time to get on board. A fun, fast read. If you enjoyed Dial A for Aunties or Arsenic and Adobe, you'll enjoy the antics of this series.

My gals Finley and Vero do it again!

This book was wild, a bit all over the place, and I got a little confused at times, but I DON’T CARE!! These books make me smile so big - in a murder for hire kind of way.

This a true sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing It and picks up right where that one left off (so basically you really need to read the first one first). I was lucky enough to have the audiobook and the ebook, so I flew through this one in about a day. I definitely don’t think their story is over!

This book has it all:
Mystery
Romance
Laughter
Cute kids
Behind the scenes book biz
…and most importantly, the funniest nanny/accountant ever!

Just like the first book, the narrator, Angela Dawe, quite literally “kills it”. I LOVE how she gives each character a special voice and makes the reading experience so much more enjoyable! I can’t wait to listen to more from her!

This is an enjoyable read if you're looking for an escape from reality. It's utterly preposterous and ridiculous, but it's fun to ride along with Finlay and Vero and the outrageous, over-the-top troublesome situations they continuously find themselves in.

As entertaining as this book was, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first book in the series. However, being how this one ended with a cliffhanger, there's a good chance there will be a 3rd book in the series, and I will most likely pick it up.

Also, the audiobook narrator, Angela Dawe, once again did an amazing job channeling Finlay and the rest of the large cast of characters.

A big thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance copy of this audiobook.

This is my second time listening to Elle Cosimano's series about Finlay Donovan. She's the mystery author-turned-murder-hijinx-partner-in-crime with her live-in accountant.

The narration by the actress Angela Dawe is straight up entertainment! She completely inhabits the characters and will forever by the voice of Finlay.

Despite my love of the audio, it was the crazy plot that had me a wee bit less enthused than the first story. It just seemed a lot less believable (and much less funny) than the first book. As I said in my first review, just be entertained and don't take it too seriously.

This book was so cute and such a great little read. It was funny and enjoyable. It is definitely a delight to read.

The audiobook sound quality was sub par. Unfortunately the echo sound takes away from the full enjoyment of the narration.

This second book in the series was a bit of a mess in my opinion. Too many hands in the pot and not enough laughter and freshness that we had in book one. My attention started to fade at 40% and I just forced myself to finish.

This is the second in a series about a struggling single-mom novelist, with writer’s block. She seems to find trouble everywhere (or maybe trouble finds her)?

The book starts where we left off in “Killing It.” Finlay finds out that someone wants her ex-husband Steven dead. She and her sidekick Vero join forces to protect Steven (in order to protect her kids) and figure out the mystery.

The book has crazy antics and over-the-top scenarios. I wanted to like it as much as the first, but (sadly) I didn’t. The first one was fresh and funny; a true page-turner. This book, while similar, didn’t keep me quite as interested. I listened on audio, and that may have been part of the difference. I did not find the narration as entertaining as others. But that’s just personal preference.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy. I’ll probably read the third installment - if there is one!

Elle Cosimano is easily become a new favorite author for me. I get so enthralled by her writing and stories that I just can’t get enough and next I know the book is done…in just one sitting.
Finlay’s story continues from the end of Finlay Donovan is killing it. She’s seeing the young, hot law student and still has the hot cop in the background wanting to date her. But now instead of trying to hide what happen in the previous book she’s trying to figure out who wants her ex dead. Angela Dawes is the narrator for this story, just like the last and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The way she narrates each individual character is astounding. She is always consistent with each character and just make you see the story playing out in your head. In my opinion not all narrators have this and that makes her very special. She is now my favorite female narrator. I highly recommend not only picking up the physical or digital copy of this book but also the audio. You won’t regret it.

Another Finlay adventure and I just loved the fun ride. The first chapter had me cracking up in the car and was exactly what I needed after work! The narrator for this audiobook was fantastic and made the whole listening experience even better. In this book we are introduced to a few more characters and each of them add fun and humor in their own way, but I also wondered if they were trustworthy. I highly recommend reading the first Finlay Donovan book first as this one picks up right afterwards. A great series, I hope there will be more!

Finlay Donovan is one of my favorite characters to date. Not only Finlay, but Vero. I am obsessed with their friendship!

Much like the first book, this story provides the same amount of wit, sass, and cringeworthy events. But cringeworthy in the sense of a face palm, secondhand embarrassment. You know, the best kind. The plot of this series is so wildly out there, but I’m addicted and couldn’t put this book down.

Was it as good as the first book? It was close, but I’m still picking the first book to be my favorite. With that being said, FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS ‘EM DEAD provided the same chaos in each chapter as you would expect.

The story is fun, easy to read, and laugh out loud worthy.

Big thank you to Minotaur Books for the eARC! You can get your copy February 1, 2022.

I was a big fan of the first in this series, so I couldn’t wait to read this. Well, thanks to netgalley, I listened instead. And it was a fun, entertaining audiobook.
Finlay just has a knack for getting herself in trouble. Her attempts to “fix things” do anything but. She comes across an online forum for women looking for solutions. Like getting rid of husbands or other unwanted men. And…her ex-husband happens to be on the list. And while she doesn’t want him in her life anymore, he’s still the father to her two kids. In an effort to protect him, she gets herself tangled in all sorts of trouble. Suffice it to say, the book is humorous, fast paced and clever. There are plenty of red herrings and I never did figure out who wanted Steven dead. I’m usually not a fan of too much romance in mysteries, but Cosimano has enough to add interest without going overboard.
The characters are great. Not just Finlay, but especially Vero. It’s obvious Vero has gotten herself in trouble as well, but she’s keeping it hidden from Finlay.
No, it’s not believable. It’s just fun. And sometimes, that’s just what’s needed.
Angela Dawe did a great job as the narrator and perfectly channels Finlay.
My thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance copy of this audiobook.

Elle Cosimano has done it again with this second installment in her Finlay Donovan series! I love Finlay so much, and I love to hate her jerk ex-husband, Steven. In this book, I am not alone is my disdain, because someone has put out a hit on Steven. As annoying as he is, Finlay doesn't want him killed, and she really doesn't want her kids put in danger, so she tries to figure out both who has put out the hit, and who the mysterious person taking the job is. All while getting pressure from her agent to write her next book, and trying to figure out why Vero has been acting so strange lately.

This book is everything I loved about the first and more. More crazy adventures snooping where she shouldn't be snooping, more great scenes with Vera as her ride-or-die, and more of the chemistry between Finlay and her two love interests; Nick and Julian. Elle Cosimano writes the most fun mysteries, and fans of Stephanie Plum are going to fall instantly in love with Finlay Donovan!

Thanks so much to Macmillan audio for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Finlay Donovan is Killing It was one of my top 10 reads of 2021. I was so pumped to get an ARC of the sequel....but unfortunately it didn't live up to the first one for me. It was great to be reunited with best friends and partners in crime (literally) Finlay and Vero, but to me it just felt like the storyline from the first novel was being dragged out into another 300 some pages. There were still some laugh-out-loud moments, but not as many, and I didn't find myself as invested in the crime. Still a solid book, it's just hard to live up to such a smash debut. The cliffhanger ending leads me to believe there will be a 3rd book in the series, so I look forward to seeing what Finn and Vero get up to next.

Many thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest feedback.

Wow, what a ride. Finlay is back and I enjoyed the ride! In this installment, someone is after Steve, Finaly's sleazy ex.. At the same time, Steve is on her case to allow their children to stay with him. Finlay and Vero must find out who ordered the hit before something happens to Steve and/or cute little Delia and Zach.

This book was hysterical just like the last one. The characters were so well rounded. Everyone is perfectly flawed, except for Steve--he's not perfect, just detestable. Julian and Nick are both back vying for her. Obviously Nick is endgame, but that doesn't mean Finlay can;t have some fun first. The plot was fast-paced and there wasn't a dull moment.

The narration was excellent. The narrator did a spendlid job conveying Finlay' and Vero's wry sense of humor.

I just can't wait for book 3!

This was a great follow up to the first book. There were cliffhangers, so I am assuming there is going to be a third book! I love following Finlay and seeing how she continues to stumble into the worst kind of trouble. I don't want to spoil anything, but I loved how different yet similar this book was to the first. There was no way to mirror things from the first book and still make the story believable, so I wondered how the second book was going to go. I was pleasantly surprised. She was able to keep the quirky situations without it seeming unbelievable and repeatative. I cannot wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed Finlay Donovan is Killing It. It was a five star read for me, so I may have come into the second book with expectations that were too big.

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano is the second book in the Finlay series and this book had a different feel.

✨𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒆: February 1, 2022

Some things never change, like Finlay unable to finish her book before the deadline, but she is trying her best to not get into any more sticky situations. Until she realizes that someone wants her ex-husband, Steven killed. She finds this information on a social media site and is immediately scared to leave the children with their dad. Mix in the fact that Vero, the nanny, seems to be keeping something from Finley, Detective Nick Anthony seeming to want back in the picture and Finlay’s complicated romance with a younger man and you have a recipe for disaster. How will Finlay manage everything that is going on in her life at the moment?

Thoughts:
-Another solid book from Elle Cosimano but it did not blow me away.
-I did not find this book to be as funny as the first
-I also felt that the characters of Finlay and Vero were not as likable in this one.
-Overall a quick, light read that is enjoyable if you do not compare it to the first.

I did love the audiobook and felt that the narrator, Angela Dawe did a fantastic job!
