This was another one of those books where the synopsis wasn't really grabbing me, but after seeing Book Coffee Happy's review, I knew I had to read it as soon as possible. I'm thankful for the nudge! I also need to stop judging books by their synopsis...

The entire story was really well written and thought out with great characters and settings that were easy to visualize. I was drawn in from the first page and had a hard time putting it down after I started. I felt so bad for what Avery was going through in her life and the flashbacks gave a lot more depth to the situation and really let us feel what she was feeling.

I loved the banter between Avery and Elle. I almost wish some chapters had been written from Elle's perspective, as I enjoy reading a teenager's point of view, even in adult novels. I really liked how the characters connected with each other throughout. The whole time, I was rooting for Avery to make things right with Jude so they could get back together.

One aspect of this story reminded me of a novel I read a long time ago, but Rochelle took a different angle with it, so it still felt surprising and original.

I'm really glad I read this novel, as harrowing as the story could be at times. It was well-worth the heartache!

Movie casting suggestions:
Avery: Stacey Farber
Elle: Jules LeBlanc
Jude: Michiel Huisman
Willow: Anna Paquin
Avery's dad: Dennis Quaid
Cole: Austin Nichols
Jackson: Justin Chatwin

This was a lovely heartwarming story of a woman getting over her past trauma and in the process helping and forming a bond with her stepdaughter. While nothing groundbreaking I did enjoy the story, the characters all felt very real and familiar.

THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL. I had a little bit of trouble at first getting into the story becase I was having a non reading moment in my life, but after the first pages I actually got into a rollercoaster and I couldn't put the book down. It's a story full of love, loss, grieve, forgiveness, hope. This book melt me heart and I didn't want for it to finish. My first novel of Rochelle, but not the last.

I’m so glad to be selected for When We Let Go book tour with @letstalkbookspromo . This is a lovely book about family, forgiveness, and healing.

Along time ago, Avery went through a tragic event that ended in her fleeing from her family. She felt betrayed but also unworthy of being truly happy and loved again. This brought a great deal of inner conflict when she met Jude and his children.

I loved the emotion in the authors writing as Avery struggles with reuniting with her sister and confronting Jude about her past. I love the bond that Avery builds with Jude’s daughter, Elle. This book pulled at so many heart strings.

Thank you @letstalkbookspromo and @rochellebweinstein for a copy of this book to read.

Warning: Have a large box of tissues handy when you read this - you'll need them! I wasn't expecting to cry so much when I opened this book. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of tear-jerkers, but I enjoyed this. It took me awhile to read it, I needed a lot of breaks - it covers a lot of heavy topics, thoroughly, with well-developed characters who allow us to travel through their sorrows and trials with them. Focuses on the delicate relationships we form throughout our lives and how those relationships evolve over time. The writing seemed a little hard-edged at times, which I found strange - maybe a softer style would work better for the topic? I don't know - I'd still recommend this to friends who like family dramas and books that make them cry (I'm specifically thinking of a friend who loves Nicholas Sparks).

A great women's fiction novel

Absolutely stunning Women's Fiction about loss and healing and family. Avery Everett has survived an unthinkable tragedy. To put it behind her, she left her hometown 7 years ago and hasn't been back. The guilt she feels prevents her from moving forward with her life, so much so that when her boyfriend proposes, she can't say yes. Understandably, he's devastated and insists they take a break. When her aging dad is injured, she heads home to see him and in the process, confronts her past. Little does she know that she has an accidental stowaway, her boyfriend's teenage daughter.

I honestly couldn't put this one down. I finished late at night, with the last few pages blurring through my tears. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read a digital ARC in return for an honest review.

This one got me. It is so heartbreakingly beautiful. Make sure you have tissues near by with this one.
This book has a powerful message about the importance of forgiveness and healing after loss. This book is intense at times and the interactions between the characters can be heartbreaking but it is so worth it.
It is incredibly written and I am eagerly looking for more of her books right now!

When Jude, a widowed father, proposes to Avery, it seems like a match made in heaven for two people who are perfect for one another. But Avery can’t let herself be happy with her own haunting past. Instead after years of estrangement, Avery goes home to her sister and father, but she doesn’t know that she has a stowaway, Jude’s teenage daughter.

When I say this book made me cry, I’m not exaggerating. I listened to it at work and let the tears fall behind the microscope. I loved this book. You all know I love good family stories of love and healing, and there was so much of it here. This book is beautifully written, filled with characters you can’t help but root for, and just enough teenage angst to make it 100% realistic.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an eARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book so much so that I practically read it in one sitting. I am not usually one to say I enjoy contemporaries, most of the time I read them between fantasy books to give myself a break but this was a brilliantly executed novel.

I loved the depth in these characters, they felt like real people rather than just words on a screen. They had flaws to them and I feel like relationships were accurately portrayed in this novel. Not every relationship is cutesy all the time. There is grit to relationships and this showed that.

This was also an incredibly quick read, the pacing felt right and I liked how the plot progressed. This also had a fair few emotive moments in it as well as some laughs along the way to provide comic relief.

I would certainly recommend this book to others and am excited to read the other books Weinstein has written and will publish in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley and Let's talk books for the early copy of this one.

This was a decent women's fiction about a woman who is trying to figure out where she wants to go with her life when she tells her boyfriend no when he proposes to her and flees to her family farm that she hasn't been to in a long time. This got a little cheesy for me and I had a hard time keeping focus on it. Luckily I had an audio copy.

Avery is unable to move on in life due to fear. This story takes you on her journey to revisit her past and move on from her old life. It is heartfelt journey of mending and breaking down walls. Poignant moments for mothers, daughters, and those who have loved and lost. The story reminds us that we all deserve a second chance in life and to confront and persevere! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I always feel like her books are hidden little gems. I never really know the extent of how much I’ll love the book until I read it. Then I read it, and fall head over heals for the story and the characters. Feisty teenage Elle my favorite in this one. Rochelle did such a great job capturing the struggling teen mood and having her mature and evolve over the pages.

Great for fans of family drama, heartbreaking and heartwarming stories.

From Amazon: "When Avery Beckett is proposed to by Jude Masters, a widowed father and the man she loves, it should be a time of great joy. Instead, Avery is on edge. She’s wary of the idea of family, doubtful of happy endings, and too afraid to take the leap. It’s the kind of fear that comes from having secrets.
Before Avery commits to a new life, she must reconcile with the one she left behind.
When Avery returns to her childhood farm in the North Carolina mountains, she’s surprised to be saddled with a companion: Jude’s teenage daughter, Elle, who’s grappling with the loss of her mother and the complicated emotions of first love. On a path of mending wounds and breaking down walls, Avery and Elle form an unexpected alliance. It’s giving them the courage to move forward. And for Avery, everything she needs to confront the past."

💛 I absolutely loved this book. The story was great and the writing was easy to read. I so enjoyed the relationship between Avery and Elle. It was so sweet. If you love stories of hope and second chances and redemption, family and learning to let go of the past, go snag this one. I can't wait to read more of Rochelle's books now!!

A great book about grief, love, & loss. Avery suffered an extreme unfortunate loss but she is unwilling to commit and be loved again. When Jude proposes she gets spooked and says nothing! Will they get back together, or will Avery suffer from this loss for eternity?
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is an incredibly emotional journey. We are taken through love, tragic loss and how life falls apart and slowly falls into place in a different pattern than first planned or expected but fits all the same.
I enjoyed reading this, and the deep emotions it drew upon.
This is one i will be recommending.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a beautiful story of love and loss, filled with nostalgia and teaching us when to hang on and when to let go. The writing was amazing and really drew me in right from the start.

I loved the depth of the characters. Avery was stubborn and lost, but also so relatable and loving. Her backstory was a heartbreaking one…I didn’t think I could take all the sadness!

The relationship that Avery and Elle make together was probably one of my favourite parts of the story. I felt so bad for Avery that she kept trying, and Elle (being a typical teenager) did not have the time of day for it! But it was clear that Elle was dealing with a lot of pain, and she masked those emotions with anger and ridicule.

I did find this book to be a bit longer than it needed to be, but I still loved reading it and thought there was so much packed in. Would definitely recommend!
