Murder Faux Paws, is the fifth in the Nick and Nora Mystery series by T. C. LoTempio. I enjoy the story line. My only complaint is that Nora constantly consciously places herself in dangerous situations. For this reason, this will be the last in the series that I read.

It was well written. I liked the twists and turns. There were plenty of plausible suspects.

There is a surprise at the end.

I was given an advanced copy by Netgalley and I thank them for allowing me to read the story. I am not required to leave a positive review.

Murder Faux Paw is book #5 in the Nick and Nora Mystery series by T. C. LoTempio.

A local PI’s death is ruled a suicide, but then another PI dies and Nora and Nick are on the case to figure out what the first PI had been investigating and if the two deaths were related.

Nick is my favorite part of the book. I hope we learn more about his background. The mystery was interesting and I liked that others were involved in helping figure out some of the clues. Nora having to deal with her unexpected guess was entertaining. The romantic triangle was a little annoying. Hopefully she’ll make a decision soon.

This was the first book I’ve read in the series, but I enjoyed it and have purchased the first book to catch up on the series.

Thank you to the author, Beyond the Page Publishing, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I have always enjoyed this series and am pleased it has a new publisher. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley . My review opinions are my own.

This the the fifth release in this charming series that is pure catnip for the author's cat loving readers.
The crime fighting duo is back and this time Nora is in terrible danger after two murders occurs.
Niora is assisted by her charming tuxedo cat Nick . Nick has the uncanny ability to communicate with Nora and is known for helping her solve crimes . When one of her PI instructors is murdered Nora and Nick are on the case and soon Nora is in danger and another murder occurs.

I loved the crime fighting duo of Nick and Nora. This is a smart well crafted series with a pleasing sleuth to conclusion. The supporting charcters all add to the fun of the series. I look forward to the next in series.

I’ve liked the Nick and Nora series since the first book came out in 2014 so I was excited to see this series found a new publishing home, starting with the previous book.

In this one, Nora and her trusty sidekick, Nick, her cat who communicates with her using scrabble tiles. They’re looking into the deaths of two PIs. Nora herself is training to become a PI as well, which is how she ends up becoming invoked in this one. Aided by Nick, who continues his role of helping save Nora’s life, they end up discovering a political treasonous scheme.

Nick absolutely continues to be my favorite character in the series. He knows when Nora needs him and I’m totally on board with the cat being smarter than some of his human counterparts. The mystery was interesting and fast paced and kept my attention. That being said, Nora and the sometimes idiotic love triangle annoyed me a bit more in the book considering both men seemed to doubt Nora’s intelligence but Nora also did some stupid things that put her in danger. As a whole, I hate love triangles and I’d like that part of the story to be wrapped up sooner than later.

I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Nick and Nora’s adventures. Thank you to Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Princess Fuzzypants here: We are all very fond of the old Thin Man movie seriesin this house. Our fondness for Nick and Nora Charles has extended to this series of books but in this case Nick is a debonair black cat and Nora is his adopted human. He has helped her solve murders and saved her life many times in the past. He continues his sterling track record in this book.

Nora is taking a PI course and her substitute teacher drags her into a murder that the police think was suicide. When he is then murdered, she and Nick are certain there was foul play at hand. Neither Samms nor Daniel seem willing to listen to her concerns. When a high school friend then gets arrested for the murder of the second PI, she enlists the aid of human Nick’s former partner, Ollie, to help her get to the bottom of things. And boy, it turns out to be a doozy. Not only is murder involved but so is treason. And it leads back to a local Councilman. The question then becomes who in his office is the one responsible.

Thanks to Nick and his handy scrabble tiles, Nora is able to figure out the answer but here is where she could qualify for a Darwin Award. She goes into a highly dangerous situation without any police backup. Good thing Nick is on the job. Once again he comes to her rescue and between the two of them, they are able to bring the perp to justice.

The chemistry between Nick and Nora has always been delightful but this book seemed to intensify it, to the benefit of the book and the reader. Nick understands everything and his reactions are priceless. Of course, he uses the handy tiles when he must get through to Nora. She is only human. But for the first time, perhaps because I saw a Thin Man movie recently, I realized how much some of Nick’s reactions are similar to Asta. Now, naturally, Nick does it better since he is a cat and Asta is a dog. It adds an extra element of fun to the book and I already was going to give it my highest rating. Five purrs and two paws up.

Nora Charles runs her late mother’s coffee shop in Cruz, California and studying to be a PI which she is enjoying immensely. When a substitute teacher recognises her and hints how he might need her help Nora isn't sure what he wants but soon finds herself drawn into an intriguing and complex case where nothing is quite as it seems.

With sister Lacey back in town keeping secrets from everyone, and boyfriend Daniel also being very secretive Nora finds her only ally in Nick, her beautiful and intelligent cat. Between them they begin to link together the clues which very likely got two men killed and Nora knows she needs to find the final pieces of the puzzle to pass on to local law enforcement before their current investigation becomes their last.

Although this is the fifth in the Nick and Nora mystery series it is the first I've read. It did take a little getting used to especially as far as the cat is concerned! Nick shares his insights via a bag of Scrabble tiles and definitely pushes the boundaries of belief a few times with his ability to at least ease Nora in the right direction!  She does, thankfully have a few humans around to bounce ideas off or it might get just a bit too weird!

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. As long as you can suspend reality for a while this is an enjoyable read.

I love the whimsey of T.C. LoTempio's Nick and Nora Mystery series. While there are real-life, difficult situations involved in the storyline there is always the touch of magic as it relates to Nick the cat. How Nora interacts with him is absolutely charming. As Nora's sister arrives home for an extended stay all manner of difficulties arise, most sinister being a murder in the guise of a suicide. Nora can't let the investigating go, and at times she is spot on and others she is so far off base it it delightful. I'm happy the next in the series is set for release as I want to find out what happens in Nora's relationships. I highly recommend the entire series for great cozy reads!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I like the characters and the setting. I find the mysteries enjoyable as well The mysteries keep me guessing. Love Nick (the cat). The romance annoys me however. Which guy? Is Daniel on or off?

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Beyond The Page Publishing, in return for an honest review. While the fifth book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. Nora Charles is an emerging sleuth, aided by her sidekick, Nick (the wonder cat who uses scrabble tiles to communicate). Nora is sometimes aided and sometimes hindered by the two men in her life – FBI agent, Daniel, and local town sheriff, Leroy Samms. In this story, her interim PI licensing instructor shares information with her about a potential case that he believes has resulted in the death of a fellow PI. When her instructor is killed shortly after leaving her, Nora is drawn into figuring out the truth about both deaths. Were they an accident and a suicide, or murder? Add in a local politican, possible misuse of funds and strange linkages to Washington, DC, events – there’s plenty for Nora to investigate with Nick’s able assistance.
I enjoy Nora and Nick’s adventures. The author has built a fun duo with unique capabilities and characteristics. Like some other reviewers, I’m also ready for the ‘love triangle’ to end and for Nora to receive respect from her professional contemporaries. Interesting and well-written cozy mystery. I look forward to the next Nick and Nora adventure!

I was given a free e-copy of this novel by NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

When a local PI’s untimely death is ruled a suicide by the police, budding sleuth Nora Charles has no intention of letting sleeping dogs lie—or sleeping cats, for that matter. Certain it was a case of foul play, Nora rouses her trusty sidekick Nick and launches an investigation of her own. Then a second PI is murdered, and Nora knows the two men were on to something—and that she’s on to something too.

Following the enigmatic clues left by her late predecessors, Nora soon uncovers a plot that involves a local politician, missing campaign funds, and what could be a bogus real estate deal. But when hints of treason surface, what started as small-time thievery soon balloons into a matter of national security. With the uncanny Nick sniffing out—and spelling out—leads, Nora follows a trail that will take her to the heart of a shadowy conspiracy, and into a trap set by a conniving culprit that will have her wishing she had Nick’s nine lives. (NetGalley’s synopsis)

I have read all of the Nick and Nora mystery series and love them. However, I am now beginning to become annoyed with the main character Nora and her two human males.

Nora has proven to her FBI boyfriend and Detective Leroy Samms that she is more than capable of solving a murder case. But this doesn’t seem to stop them from omitting facts or being condescending. At this point it is obvious that Nora is also capable of keeping her mouth shut, so why they simply won’t say “hey let’s tell her why we need her to stop looking” feels very misogynistic. In their difference, however, there is Nora also being a bit of a brat. She’s follows clues and then irrevocable puts herself in danger. Once in danger, she has an epiphany of “I should have called Daniel or Samms.” It doesn’t seem like Nora ever learns her lesson. I also still don’t care very much for the love triangle, and sincerely hope this fizzles out in future novels.

The mystery itself was attention catching and interesting. It flowed smoothly and was a very quick read. It caused this reader to think (if that wasn’t obvious) and experience the events along with Nora and Nick. Nora is working on getting her PI license which is something most amateur detectives don’t do, so I did appreciate that detail. I hope with the license that other law enforcement officers will begin to take her more seriously than the current two.

Nick is still my favorite part of this whole series, and quite possibly the only being that Nora listens to. I love that he uses Scrabble tiles to communicate, and that everyone knows about it. I also love the fact that he is twenty pounds and can disappear without a trace. The fact that he reappears whenever Nora needs him is testament to have much he adores her. Everything that they say about cats in this series I have found to be true.

It seems like this novel doesn’t have the undercurrent of Nick Atkins attached to it like the previous novels do. My hope for the next novel is that Nora learns more about where Nick the cat came from, and has more postcards from Nick Atkins. It feels like this particular mystery has strayed away, and I would like to see it come to the forefront of one of the investigations.

Overall I rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars.

Murder Faux Paws by T.C. LoTempio is the fifth book in this author's Nick and Nora Mystery series. In this story Nora Charles and her cat partner Nick find themselves investigating the deaths of two PIs. During the course of the investigation Nora manages to get shot at while searching through the office of one of the dead PIs. But that doesn't scare her off the case. I really like Nora's tenacity while investigating. She keeps a cool head even while faced with danger. I enjoyed this intriguing case and I look forward to more Nick and Nora mysteries.

The fifth Nick and Nora cozy mystery is as cute as the others.

Nick is a pudgy Tuxedo cat who spells out clues with scrabble tiles. Nora is a former journalist who returned home to take over the family sandwich shop, is currently working to get her Private Investigator's license, and STILL can't decide which law enforcement agent she prefers. The first PI seemed to have committed suicide, the second was no accident, and the sleuthing needs to get serious now! No spoilers and the publisher's blurb is a great hook! Great read!

Quirky Whodunnit…
The fifth in the Nick and Nora mystery series finds Nora, along with sidekick Nick, delving into a case of suspected dirty dealings. As clues are uncovered is Nora in danger of getting into treacherous territory? A fun, quirky whodunnit with endearing protagonists and a frothy narrative. A fitting addition to the series.

This is a cute series. Nick and Nora are solving mysteries. Nora's love life still seems to be in a bit of a quandary. A fun and interesting cozy mystery. An entertaining bit of escapism. All the usual characters plus some new ones. This can be read as a standalone. As with most series, it is more enjoyable when read in order. I look forward to reading the further adventures of Nick and Nora. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

Nora and her cat Nick are happily living life when Nick draws some scrabble tiles, I S S, and warns Nora of something impending. When her sister soon shows up, she realizes Nick was spelling “Sis”. Then when the PI who was subbing in Nora’s PI class is murdered after visiting her, Nick begins to give her more tiles to help figure out who wanted the man dead and why.

As Nora and Nick sleuth, you’ll find them working together to find clues and finger the murderer…but will Nick and Nora get too close and become the next victims before the murderer is caught? You couldn’t want a better sidekick that Nick, he has a way of getting into things and getting Nora out of dangerous spots. Even with his nine lives, he’s making sure Nora doesn’t lose her one if he can help it.

A cute series that I jut found and am glad to have four previous entries to binge on. This is a well written cozy with plenty of red herrings and a solid whodunit with the cutest tuxedo cat that you don’t want to miss.
