What a ride! I couldn’t put this down!! I went back and forth between who I thought “The Watcher” was, and was very pleased with the big reveal.

I received an advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Privacy is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Very suspenseful with a twist I did not see coming. Looking forward to catching up on her backlist and see what she comes out with next.

Sometimes fame is nothing but a detriment and that proves true in this one. Dr. Landers is a successful therapist and when one of her patients is being held hostage she steps in and in the process becomes a media darling. Someone is not happy with this, however and starts targeting her patients. Someone is sending gifts to her patients, but these are not gits you want. Her home is broken into and all fears are coming to light. Who is out to destroy her and why? I don't want to sway too much but this pays off.

Thank you #RandomHouse and #NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting, gripping psychological thriller that has a little bit of everything thrown in, romance, friendship and mind games. Thought I had the plot twist figured out but alas, it was a shocker.
My first read from this author and won't be my last.

Laina Landers is a therapist who diffuses a challenging situation. But when her other patients begin receiving objects that are borderline-threatening, Dr. Landers wonders who is watching. She turns to reporter/boyfriend Cal Murray for help.
In the beginning, I really liked this story. I wondered who was watching and stepped down several rabbit holes in pursuit of the culprit. But then the content started to be mushy with sexual content and profanity. And it seemed like the author was trying to add in all the modern-day issues just to make the book more appealing. For example, there's a trans male, black star and Asian neighbor. In cases, they didn't suit the trajectory or interest of the story.
I appreciate the theme of "What is the cost of carrying not only your own pain and grief, but that of so many others?" That question is intriguing. But this book falls short for me both in content and how the ending plays out.

I was thoroughly entertained by this story of a therapist and her patients, who are all terrorized by an unknown person. I was surprised by the outcome, which is saying a lot these days, with the thriller and mystery market becoming more and more saturated by the day. Highly recommended to people who like a good, smart mystery.

Patients of prominent therapist Dr. Laina Landers assume their sessions and inner-most secrets are private; after all that confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of therapy. When Laina is thrust into the spotlight after saving a patient who's held hostage by her husband her patients start receiving anonymous "gifts" that are very clearly related to the reasons they are seeing Laina. Accompanied by notes with the phrase "watching you" Laina fears someone has accessed her files and is stalking her patients. New to San Diego, news reporter Cal was the first journalist on the scene when Laina helped rescue her patient. Sparks fly and Cal is determined not only to protect Laina but to also investigate who is behind these threats. As things start to unravel Cal is on the brink of his big break but at what cost? Privacy by Nina Sadowsky explores a variety of themes in this psychological mystery. The twists and turns will take readers down a few paths until the startling conclusion. Overall I enjoyed this novel, however the repetitive observations about Laina and Cal, his background and "voice" (chapters from his perspective) were a little overdone. Solid 3.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

This was my first novel by Nina Sadowsky. I was pretty hooked from the first page. I loved reading about Lana’s different clients and how she was helping them as well as her calm demeanor. Dr. Lana Landers is a therapist I wouldn’t mind seeing, she seems PERFECT!

While I was hooked early on, the story started to take a couple twists and turns that didn’t really seem to add up and the pace picked up so quickly and then the book was over. I think it would have been more enjoyable if the characters and the story could have had more time to develop.

Privacy by Nina Sadowsky was a fun and fast paced read! Dr . Lana Landers is a therapist. After being seen on TV during a hostage negotiation with one of her clients, her other clients start getting bad surprises. It seems that somebody knows everything about Dr. Lana’s patients and is using their dirty secrets against them. Enter Cal—an investigative journalist intrigued by Dr. Lana.. Together they are trying to figure out what is going on. There is some romance in this book between the two. Normally I don’t like romance but it wasn’t overkill in this case. I feel this was an original plot and would love to read more books by this author. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Dr. Laina Landers is a well-respected, intelligent, gifted therapist who is kind and compassionate, and has won the trust of her many patients. Called to the scene by the distraught husband of a couple seeing her for marriage counseling, the budding politician is holding his wife at gunpoint. Dr. Landers is able to approach the man, gun pointed at her as well, and talk him away from the brink of disaster. He flings his wife into the arms of the doctor and allows himself to be taken into custody by the police, knowing his life is over. More than a little impressed by what he and his cameraman have witnessed, charming and upcoming journalist Cal Murray approaches Dr. Landers at the scene, and is promptly shut down. Working his magic, and with more than a few sparks flying between them, Dr. Landers agrees to an interview with her lawyer present to discuss mental health. When Cal throws in a question that has not been approved beforehand, Alaina’s attorney/friend Vanessa puts an immediate stop to the interview. Other upsetting things begin to happen to Alaina’s patients who begin to receive unwanted “gifts” which expose their deep-seated fears and past traumatic events. One patient’s whose secret shame as a Catholic who has had an abortion receives a fetus in a jar, another whose father is a suspected embezzler receives a hundred dollar bill soaked in putrid oil to indicate “dirty money,” still another receives a videotape of his wife’s secret affair. Each comes with a note that simply reads, ”Watching you.” Laina herself becomes the recipient of such a gift and note, left after a break-in to her home where nothing was taken. She recruits Cal to look into her patients while the two slowly become a couple, falling in love. It seems someone is targeting Laina’s patients to destroy her reputation and the practice she intends to expand, and possibly end the doctor’s life as well.

What a stunner of a book! Following along and feeling the horror for each of the gift recipients, the reader tries to figure out who could possibly have the motive, access, and knowledge to target each patient in such an intimate way. Who is “The Watcher?” What is this person capable of, and how far will he/she go to ruin the reputation of a practically perfect woman and doctor? The answer to this question is darker and more surprising than expected. The climax and reveal literally made my jaw drop open as I took one of the red herrings for the truth and thought I had figured out the perpetrator. It’s an exciting, taut, infinitely readable novel, and the pages turned quickly and easily for me as I devoured the book in its entirety in one sitting. It was a psychological thriller from the prologue to the addendum, and it is a horrifying thought that this type of situation (if not the specifics) might actually occur. I think all fans of (medical) psychological thrillers would thoroughly enjoy this book, and highly recommend it.

I’d like to thank NetGalley, Nina Sadowsky, and Bantam Books/Random House for the ability to read and review this ARC.

DNF I tried. I tried more than once. I simply could not finish this book. The characters were unlikable. The plot was slow and more holes than swiss cheese. It was such an exciting premise but it fell flat. Thank for you the arc. I would definitely try another book by this author but this one was just not for me.

This was my first novel by Nina Sadowsky. First of all, the cover art is gorgeous. I really enjoy books with the therapist and patient trope. Privacy did not disappoint. It was an easy read, and one that had me intrigued so much that I didn’t want to put it down. This was a great thriller, maybe a little predictable, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

“ People litter pieces of themselves everywhere, all the time, without so much as a glance backward.” Laina Landers is a therapist that puts her patients well being as her top priority. As tragedy starts to follow not only her patience, but Laina her self, danger seems to be lurking around every corner. “How much paced n can people bear before they break?” This thriller shows that eyes are always watching. One never knows what is being revealed behind closed doors. Who is the Watcher? What secrets will surface as lives are exposed? This is a fast paced thriller with a surprising ending that left me wanting more. Thank you NetGalley and Bantam for my copy.
