Sapere Books has reissued the late John Winton's 1979 book "Sink the Haguro, The Last Destroyer Action of World War Two." Winton, true to form does an excellent job of chronicling the exploits of a Royal Navy Destroyer Task Force in the "Battle of Malacca Straights." Five destroyers under then Captain Manley power are tasked with destroying the remaining Japanese Cruiser/Destroyer force in the vital sea lanes of the Malacca Straights. Read about what would be the sinking of the last surface vessel in the Pacific War.

A great read about one of the last destroyer actions by the British navy in the pacific during WW2. The story also told of the British navy’s action in the Pacific during the war. A truly inspirational read! The heroism shown by the the sailors manning these small destroyers against a much larger foe was heroic.

Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A must for Naval aficionados, and WW2 buffs.

Japan's naval fleet and the threat it posed is largely unknown due to tactical errors and blunders by Japans high command. This well written book documents the mostly forgotten story of the tragic loss of the Haguro and the far reaching effects much like the loss of the Indianapolis for the United States. A hidden gem here you will love!
