Suspects combines romance, suspense, and espionage in a captivating story of loss, love, and danger.

The protagonist, Theodora Morgan, is a successful fashion entrepreneur who has to cope with the tragic death of her husband and son, who were kidnapped and killed by unknown assailants.

A year later, she meets Mike Andrews, a charming lawyer who seems to be the perfect match for her. But Mike is actually a CIA agent who is investigating a possible connection between Theodora's family tragedy and a Russian plot to sabotage her business. As their relationship deepens, so does the threat to their lives, and they must work together to uncover the truth and stop the enemies who are still after them.

Danielle Steel delivers a thrilling and emotional story. The characters are well-developed and realistic, with flaws and strengths that make them relatable and sympathetic. The plot is fast-paced and full of twists. The romance between Theodora and Mike is sweet and passionate, but also fraught with secrets and lies that test their trust and loyalty. The author also explores themes such as grief, resilience, courage, and justice, and shows how love can heal and inspire even in the darkest times.

Suspects is a must-read for fans of Danielle Steel and anyone who enjoys a well-written and engaging novel that blends romance and suspense in a compelling way. It is a book that will make you feel, think, and cheer for the characters as they face their challenges and overcome their obstacles.

Well, the experienced storyteller comes up with another fun plot and characters you want to cheer for. In the flow of this romantic thriller, you will run into surprises. Theo and Mike are on separate missions but unite to find her family's killers.

Steel brings a love story and hope to tragedy and grief, no matter what she writes. You'll be surprised and on the edge of your seat - and then enjoy a satisfying ending.

I really liked this one. Danielle Steele wrote some great characters that you could root for. One lost her husband and child to a kidnapping gone bad. And the others are picking up the pieces of their life to move one. Great story. Danielle Steele really does have a way of roping you into the story until you find out how it all turns out.

I have been reading Danielle Steel books since I was 15 years old. My grandmother would get them and would pass them down to me when she was done. I absolutely adore her books and was so excited to read a copy of this book. In Suspects, it's told through two POV. Theodora Morgan, whose husband and son were kidnapped. The case has never been solved, just linked to Russian competitors and CIA operative Mike Andrews. He goes on a covert mission when a flagged CIA interest is invited to Theo's launch party. Theo and Mike connection is instant and apparent. Will he be able to keep her safe? Or is the CIA interest out for more blood.
The book is well written, and engaging. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book all thoughts are my own.

Loved it. Begins sort of harshly when a big kidnapping situation goes out of control and the mom, wife and businesswomen needs to find a way to survive and move on. Amazingly written.

A dedicated CIA agent becomes an unexpected ally to a woman haunted by the kidnapping of her family, in this thrilling novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Danielle Steel.

Fans of Steele will most likely enjoy this story. I found it rather unbelievable the way Mike who works for the CIA would approach Theo and use his position to find out more about her. Also as Theo didn’t like meeting new people it was strange how quickly she let Mike into her life. There is some intrigue, the romance a slow burn, and the ending was good.

Suspects

by Danielle Steel

If you want an entertaining romance mixed with some mystery and spies, Suspects is a good choice. It reads quickly and has sympathetic main characters. Theo is a successful business woman in the fashion industry. She is married to an older, extremely wealthy man. They have a relatively happy marriage with one child. Everything changes instantly as Theo’s husband and son are kidnapped, probably by an angry Russian over a business deal that went sour.

Mike is a career CIA agent, promoted up the ladder but still very hands-on. He is married to his job. His path crosses with Theo’’s as he follows up on Pierre de Vaumont, a slimy character who makes his money by matching rich and shady individuals with corrupt individuals who can fulfill their needs. Mike knows about the kidnapping and is immediately drawn to Theo and wants to keep her safe.

Most of the book deals with efforts to find the kidnappers and keep Theo safe. In the process a mostly long distance romance, New York to Paris, develops between Theo and Mike.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Rating: 4/5

Category: Women’s Fiction

Notes: There is steam in this romance as the couple enjoys a “lovefest of tenderness and passion” whenever they are together. Their sexual encounters are closed door, but that part of the story becomes repetitive and does not move the plot forwards.

Publication: June 28, 2022—Delacorte Press (Penguin Random House)

Memorable Lines:

He could feel his good resolutions sliding away, like Jello-O down the drain.

The windows were all tightly closed so tear gas wouldn’t enter the apartment, and they heard the first cannons go off, shooting tear gas into the crowd. Mike was shocked at what was happening, it looked like a war zone in the most civilized city in the world.

“You’re not a normal person. You’re an exceptional, remarkable one that people are jealous of, which makes you a target. And there are dangerous people in the world.”

This was a great romantic suspense. A woman who appears to have it all then loses it in a blink of a eye in a horrible crime. As she starts to rebuild her life, she is in danger and a CIA agent comes to the rescue. I really enjoyed this book.

Suspects is another great novel in a long line by Danielle Steel. Theodora Morgan is the founder of a popular online shopping service, and one of the most successful businesswomen in the world. But her life is filled with tragedy. It was a year ago when her husband an son were kidnapped and held for ransom, and then killed. She has not recovered and has lived a very lonely life.

The case has gone cold, despite evidence that points to her husband's Russian competitors. Theo has reluctantly gone back to work running her and her husband's company. On the flight to New York City, she crosses paths with high-society networker Pierre de Vaumont. It is not a chance meeting.

Senior supervising CIA operative Mike Andrews is tasked with investigating Pierre’s suspicious Russian contacts and clears him to enter the country. When he realizes that Theodora Morgan is on the same flight, he becomes concerned for her safety. Mike, posing as a lawyer, begins a covert mission to watch Pierre. Mike and Theo connect as he works to protect her.

Danielle Steel never fails to make me feel like I am living her stories right along with the characters! This story took me back and forth from Paris to New York as we followed Theo who has experienced more heartbreak then any woman should. Action, intrigue, and most importantly love! A great, quick read.

Theo Morgan seems to have it all. A successful business woman in her own right, she is married to an older successful French business man and has a teenage son. It is ripped away from her when her husband and son a brutally kidnapped and murdered at their chateau. The French authorities have no clue who did this to her family even though she did give them half the ransom. It is thought that it is a business deal of her husband's that went bad. A year later, Theo is in New York for an opening of her pop-up store when CIA agent Mike Andrews enters her world. He is there to follow up on a suspect, but there is an instant attraction. He wants to make sure that she stays safe and the two start a bi-continent relationship. But their relationship is strengthened by the bumps in the road that they must conquer together.

A great novel for Danielle Steel fans. Romance and intrigue take center stage.

I am a huge Danielle Steel fan and have read just about everyone of her books. The Suspects did not disappoint. The story was a bit more suspenseful than her normal books but that just added to the overall enjoyment of reading it. No worries though, there is lots of contemporary romance in the pages which kept me engaged with the story. Loved it!

In this book we follow the relationship between Theo and Mike. She is a high profile business woman who has recently lost her family in a horrific circumstance. He is a CIA agent wanting to protect her from those out to get her to settle their score. This is an easy read like her books usually are. There were some twists and turns that I did not expect. I enjoyed this.
