This was a romantic suspense book that was a fast read and very entertaining. If you read the blurb, then you know Theo Morgan has suffered a terrible loss, her husband and her thirteen year old son were murdered. Between her and her husband they are very wealthy and live in Paris. Her husband and son were kidnapped for ransom but things do not go well with her son and husband murdered. It has taken her a year to finally go back to work. In comes Mike Andrews who works for the CIA and they are watching this Russian man for other reasons. Theo and Mike meet in New York at one of her pop up shops and there is an immediate attraction between them. He tells her he is a lawyer. Eventually she finds out he is with the CIA. They are such a delightful couple . More intrigue happens to Theo and also to Mike but without giving away to much all ends well. I received this ARC from net galley and the publisher for an honest review. Thank you net galley for this ARC.

Danielle Steel has been one of my favorite authors since I was 12. I have read every book that she has published. While Suspects has some darker content than her other books it was still an enjoyable read. Theo Morgan is a business-owner that was widowed a year earlier when her husband and 13 year old son were kidnapped and later murdered by a group of Russians. The kidnappers escaped and Theo went into isolation. She eventually returns to the land of the living and is brought to the attention of CIA agent Mike Andrews. Steel does a great job combining the darkness of Russian kidnappers and CIA, MI6, and the French equivalent with a love story to keep readers interested. While this was not one of my favorite Steel books it was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to readers that enjoy Steel’s writing.

Suspects by Danielle Steel is an intriguing romantic suspense. The story is told from the point of view of Theodora “Theo” Morgan and Mike Andrews. Theo owns an online clothing company that is a success. She married an older Frenchman, and they had a son, Axel. Unfortunately, Theo’s husband and son were kidnapped, and the case went sideways. The kidnappers killed both the husband and son leaving behind a devastated Theo. The case has yet to be solved and there are worries that the kidnappers will strike again since they only got half of the ransom. Mike Andrews is a CIA agent in New York. When Theo flies to New York to oversee the opening of a pop-up shop, Pierre de Vaumont is on the same plane. Pierre must be vetted before being allowed into New York which is how Mike becomes aware of Theo. Mike attends the opening of Theo’s New York pop-up shop and there is an instant connection. Mike wants to protect Theo. The only way to keep her safe is to find the men who kidnapped her husband and son. I enjoyed Suspects. I thought it was well-written and engaging. I liked the characters. Theo is a smart woman with a head for business. She is also creative, hardworking, and down to earth. Mike is man with a good heart. He is also intelligent, strong, and a diligent worker. He has devoted his life to his career. I liked Mike’s sister, Fiona. She is a lively character and added humor to the story. Suspects has tension, romance, drama, mystery, and intrigue. The second half of the story moves at a quick pace. I liked all the action. There is some repetition, a small amount of foul language, and there are intimate situations (just so you are aware). I found myself drawn into Suspects and quickly devoured it. I liked the descriptions of Paris and the fashions. I enjoyed reading Suspects and I look forward to Danielle Steel’s next novel. Suspects is a gripping tale with crazed kidnappers, a keen CIA agent, a withdrawn widow, a creative sibling, a smarmy matchmaker, and a rare romance.

TheodoraMorgan is fashion royalty. Founder of a popular online shopping service one of the most successful business women in the world although she keeps a low profile. It was a year ago the unthinkable struck her family her husband Matthieu Pasquier and their son were kidnapped held for ransom a nightmare that ended in tragedy. On a flight to a launch party for one of her highly anticipated pop-up shops in New York City. She crosses paths with high-society networker Pierre de Vaumont and invites her to her event not knowing he has been flagged by the CIA. Senior supervising CIA operative investigates suspicious Russian contacts but becomes concerned for Theodora’s safety. When Mike meets Theodora their connection is instant. Theo is completely unaware of Mike’s true objective or identity nor knowing the life she is rebuilding is in danger. This story was another excellent book by Danielle Steel. An amazing story of espionage and suspense with great characters.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and recommend to all Danielle Steel readers and every else that enjoy a well written book. A great beach or vacation book.

Excellent Story. Another Danielle Steel winner. Theo had tragedy in her life a year ago and was just now leaving the house She runs her business and her late husband's business from her home office mostly. Mike is a CIA agent that wants to meet her and feels an instant connection.. He thinks she is still in danger and wants to follow through with different agencies in France and England. They are very different people but they just fit. There was lots of intrigue, suspense, near tragedy and love.. I love how down to earth Theo is and as rich as she is, she likes simple things.

Danielle Steel books have always been my go-to relaxing reads. This one is no different. The beginning started a little slow, I wasn’t sure who the main character were supposed to be. But as I read on it got better and better. Great poolside read - and yes I actually did read it by the pool while the kids played! Can’t wait to see what comes next from Danielle Steel!

Suspects isn't your typical Danielle Steel book. Suspects features her typical romance with a bit of espionage. I enjoyed reading something different from her. The story follows Theordora Morgan, a wealthy Parisian, Mike Andrews, an American Federal agent, and Pierre Vaumont, a seedy character who infiltrates himself into Theodora's life.

Unlike most of Danielle Steel's books, Suspects weaves a story of mystery, romance and a little thriller thrown in for good measure. The story introduces us to Theordora and her family, and we quickly realize that Pierre has something to do with an unfortunate situation that takes places at Theodora's country estate. Because of this, Theordora builds walls around her that only one person can break down and that's Mike Andrews. She tries hard to protect herself from falling in love and its when something happens to Mike that she realizes the events of the past are behind her and it's time to open her heart again.

I flew through this book as it is quick-paced and has the reader on the edge of the seat. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

There is so much about this book that I absolutely love. The characters are so likeable and you feel for them. The location is in Paris and New York and set in the Fashion Industry which was captivating for me. There was mystery, romance and emotion all in one. Such a wonderful escape. I didn't want the book to end so I found myself slowing down half way thru to make it last longer, but I wanted to rush thru it at the same time because it was so good! Danielle Steel never disappoints!!! Thanks to #Random House Publishing Group and #NetGalley for the opportunity to read the ARC of this amazing book!

This was a quick and easy read that lives up to all the expectations of a Danielle Steel book. I just really enjoyed this book all the way around. I don't know why I was so drawn to these characters, but I was. Theo and Mike were so great together, and I found myself rooting for them from the moment I started the book. There aren't a lot of twists or surprises, but I was okay with that, because I really just wanted to enjoy the relationship between the characters and let their story play out. I wish I had more to say about it, because I feel a bit like I'm cheating a good book out of a review. Fans of Danielle Steel will enjoy this one; for those who are just getting started with her books, it’s a great one to begin the journey wit

Intrigue, glamour, spies, and romance are all the elements found with in this juicy new book by Danielle Steel. Theo Morgan is a fashion icon and owner of her own online clothing business and married to a billionaire Frenchman with his own empire business. But, then Theo lost her husband and son in a kidnapping gone bad when they were murdered and the kidnappers have never been caught. Now trying to pick up the pieces one year later, Theo is trying to go back to work. On a transatlantic flight to NYC, she meets Pierre de Vaumont, a sinister fellow who is pretty shady. Enough so that he is on everyone’s radar as he has “business connections” with notorious people from all over the world while he wheels and deals to line his pockets. Theo also meets Mike Andrews, a CIA agent who takes an interest in Theo’s case but then it becomes personal. Sparks fly when they meet while he is tailing Pierre de Vaumont and its electrifying. Theo is still in danger and Mike is going to make it his mission to protect Theo at all costs.
Fast paced and intriguing with lots of suspense, this book is a page turner that I could not put down. Steel does a great job in developing her characters and letting their stories unfold slowing throughout without giving it all away. Theo, although rich, is so down to earth and admirable, a truly likeable character. Mike is someone whom you want on your team. Love the setting of New York City and Paris with a splash of the French countryside thrown in. This is another classic Danielle Steel book that you can get lost in and solve the mystery along with the characters. Well done.

Many thanks to #netgalley #suspect #daniellesteel for the opportunity to rad and review this book.

Theodora is a classic Steel character, she's wealthy, beautiful, and she's suffered loss. In this case she's lost her husband and her child to kidnappers and she has to live and rebuild her life while potentially being in danger herself. I enjoyed this quick read--Steel's books are nice escapist page turners and this one has some elements of suspense to it. If you like Danielle Steel novels you'll enjoy this one too.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Theo Morgan lost her son and husband to a kidnapping gone wrong in Paris. Now she lives almost as a recluse while running her successful fashion company as well as her late husband’s businesses. She encounters CIA agent Mike Andrews when he attends one of her pop up shops in NYC. His fascination with her leads him to follow her back to Paris and they start a friendship. It quickly becomes clear that Theo isn’t safe. Mike tries to keep her safe in Paris while pursuing his own cases in the US. There are heroes, villains, a mystery, and romance. This was one of Steel’s better books. I enjoyed it and recommend it. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒
Suspects by Danielle Steel is an emotional story about a woman who lost her husband and son in a kidnapping gone wrong. But, one year later and the kidnappers still have not been caught, and she’s in as much danger as she was before.

Theodora Morgan (Theo) lives in Paris and has a wildly successful online fashion site, and for years has been known as the queen of fashion. Her life took a quick turn for the worse a year ago when her husband and thirteen-year-old son were kidnapped and then murdered. Still reeling from their deaths, Theo barely manages her own company as well as her late husband's global businesses. The kidnappers were never caught, and Theo still has 24-hour bodyguards to keep her safe.

Theo finally decides to go out into the world and travels to New York to oversee a fashion pop-up store for her fashion line. While in New York she meets Pierre de Vaumont, a jet-setting networker, and invites him to her exclusive opening of the pop-up store. She doesn’t realize that Pierre was flagged by the CIA, and that’s when she meets Mike Andrews, who poses as a lawyer but is actually a CIA agent who is tailing Pierre. After meeting Theo, Mike decides to have another look at her husband and son’s kidnapping and decides to see if he can find out more about the kidnappers, especially if they are still alive and active.

This is a complex mystery and a very emotional story. Theo is a broken woman and is slowly healing as she gets back out in the world and oversees her business and her late husband’s business. Her life since the kidnapping has been one of solitude, except for the 24-hour bodyguards.

Suspects has something for almost everyone. It’s a thriller, with a mystery with just a bit of romance as we get inside the world of high finance, and global espionage. It’s not a long book, so it’s a quick read, but very satisfying too. It’s set in Paris, but we go to New York and French Chateau in the countryside.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Theodora Morgan is a high fashion businesswoman. She doesn't like to be in the limelight and keeps a low profile. A year ago her husband and 13 year old son were kidnapped and held for ransom. Things did not go well and they were killed.
It is still an ongoing investigation where there doesn't seem to be any leads. Theo has decided she needs to get back into work and goes to NY and a few other places to open up pop up stores.
She crosses paths with high-society networker Pierre de Vaumont. Theo politely invites him to her event—unaware that Pierre has been flagged by the CIA.
Senior supervising CIA operative Mike Andrews investigates Pierre’s suspicious Russian contacts and clears him to enter the country.
Posing as a lawyer, Mike begins a covert mission—starting with Theo’s opening party. When Mike and Theo meet, their connection is instant. He doesn't know why he is drawn to her and she is really nice to him.
The friendship these 2 make seems instant but natural and they start seeing each other. He is very concerned though for her safety and has people checking up on her and about the case involving her husband and son.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the Ebook to review.

“Suspects” like all Danielle Steel stories start with tragedy. “Suspects” had a different tone to me than most of her work. Even with the wealth, fame and beauty it is still easy to connect to Theo and feel the loss she has suffered. Some of the scenes were a little unrealistic but in true Danielle Steel fashion it was a great read and provides an escape into another world for a few hours. Thank you Danielle Steel, NetGalley and Random House Publishing – Ballentine for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sorry but a pass from me because of the unrealistic portrayal of a CIA officer (not agent), I've always been a fan of Steel and I'm willing to grant more than a little license to authors who want the CIA to do things it doesn't and isn't legally allowed to go however this time, it's a no. This would worked nicely had the hot CIA "agent" been say, an FBI agent or a DHS agent. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to Steel's next offering.
