"My husband was a monster."

This book had me hooked from the first line. I listened to this entire book in one sitting because I couldn't wait even one more second to find out what happens next. The books starts out in present time with a wife, Ainsley, and her husband, Peter, at marriage counseling. While I can't say much for fear of spoilage I will say this. This was exactly what I love in a psychological thriller. The twists and turns and absolute shocks never stop coming. I did not realize this was the second book in a duology, and while it's not needed because most of the first book is explained in this one, I do think that I will need to read it just to get more of this completely dysfunctional and disturbing couple. I hope we get much more of Peter and Ainsley to come and I will definitely be reading much, much more from this author.

This was a good read! Entertaining for sure. There weren’t a whole lot of twists in my opinion. It was entertaining to listen to while in the car.

Ainsley and Peter are having marital difficulties. Peter seems to have an addiction and Ainsley will do anything to keep Peter’s attention. What could go wrong?

I have listened to about 3 Kiersten Modglin books, and I’d say this one was at the bottom of the list. Still give it 4 stars, but did like a few others more.

Kiersten's books are always a thrill and you never know what to expect!
This was the perfect sequel to the first book. I love how Peter and Ainsley's characters have developed - Ainsley's in particular. She just might be more crazy than her husband!
The way this ended makes me think there just might be a 3rd book and I hope so!

This book was the perfect follow up to The Arrangement! This marriage is full of deceits and you never know what either of them has up their sleeve! The ending left in a bit of a cliff hanger, so I'm hopeful there will be a 3rd in this series!

This is the second book in the Arrangement series. I was so excited to see there was a sequel. I enjoyed how the story picked up, and the twists- oh my! I do love a good twist. I didn’t see any of them coming, and they were well written. The audio is amazing too! I did not want to put this book down. I just had to know what was going on, what was going to happen next? It was a wild ride that I enjoyed very much. I really hope there’s another book too!

Kirsten Modglin is a queen of the twist. Her books are always a wild roller coaster ride that leave me with whiplash. This book was no exception! As a follow up to The Arrangment, which should be read first, The Amendment plumbs the darkest depth of the human psyche. I’d recommend to anyone who has read The Arrangement and wants to take a deep dive into some twisted minds.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kiersten Modglin for this audiobook. I was SO excited when I got the email saying my request to read this book was approved! 🤩

I loved this fun read! So many things happening in this story that flow together perfectly. It gave me huge “You” vibes and at some point it also turned into a cat and mouse game.

The things you do to save relationships..

The narrators in this audiobook took me right back to when I first listened to The Arrangement! I just loved it. A lot of the story tied back to what happened in The Arrangement, so definitely read that one first!

I somewhat saw the ending coming but still thought it was a great twist! Now I wonder.. will there be a third book in this series 👀

In this book, we find Ainsley and Peter dealing with the aftermath of their agreement to date other people in an attempt to bring some excitement back into their stagnant marriage. While the idea seemed to work initially, the consequences of their choices quickly spiral into a disaster. It takes the 'How well do you really know your spouse?' question to the next level by asking 'How far would you go to hide their secrets?'.

To start, I didn't realize this book was a sequel. While the description illudes to the fact that these characters had an arrangement, it doesn't actually specifically say there's a whole book about that arrangement. It just seemed like saying they had one was setting the stage for how they got here. I only realized there was a whole first book when I saw people chatting about it on the book blogs. In any case, I bought 'The Arrangement' and listened to that first, and I'm glad I did because without that this would have seemed a little too out there for me. The setup in the first book definitely makes it seem like a slippery slope rather than a jump off a cliff into the craziness. Even having read the first book, this one requires a pretty extreme amount of suspension of disbelief.

While it was a little crazy of a plot, overall, I still really enjoyed it. I love Modglin's writing style and her characters, and all her books are really quick reads. I would recommend one of her books to anyone, but this particular one I would say is best for fans of 'You' who enjoy seeing the darker side of normal life.

Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Kiersten Modglin. Here's to another excessive eyeblinking book. Kiersten Modglin can write a steady paced and easy to read book. No hiding around the bush when you read this and the twist are always at a maximum in her books. As this being a sequel, you need to previous book to enjoy this one but her books are not very long so it will not take long for you to read the previous book ( The Arrangement) to get to this one. I am still excessive blinking.

My Goodness!!! WOW! What a roller coaster twisty thriller ride! From the first page to last, I was hooked! This was one book I inhaled, gasped, screeched, and had my mouth literally drop open at the ending. With my eyes about the size of quarters!

Seriously, The Amendment by Kiersten Modglin, gobb-smacked my noggin in a way that I won’t be forgetting this one anytime soon! Just go ahead and put it on the TBR, move it up to the top of the list, and get into it!

The audiobook was great fun to listen to. Narrated by George Newbern & Sarah Mollo-Christensen, they were so believable and made the story come to life making a great book amazing!
5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Coming Out Feb, 1, 2022 - grab it!

Notes: Contains brief graphic sex.

My thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for a digital AAC in exchange for an honest opinion. All opinions are my own.

*Thanks to Netgally, Dreamscape Media and Kiersten Modglin for the advance audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

Definitely be sure the read The Arrangement before this one or you’ll be totally lost.

4 secretive ⭐
This continuation of Ainsley and Peter’s story was a thrilling ride. They have quite an interesting marriage that’s for sure. More secrets are flying all around ~ can they really trust each other?
I think there was supposed to be a shocking twist, but honestly I found that part to be predictable.
I’m glad we have the same narrators again, since they do a stellar job sucking us into the story.

I am usually not a fan of cliffhangers, but in this case I quite liked it (I didn’t see that part coming, but I probably should’ve) and I hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next installment.

This was quick paced and I recommend for thriller, suspense fans.

THE AMENDMENT was a surprising twist on a seemingly normal suburban family. Kiersten Modglin tells a story from both sides of a marital relationship, building a plot much deeper than it seems.
Ainsley and Peter seem to have a regular life, with normal professions and well-balanced children, but a closer look at their marriage reveals something deeply disturbing. Ainsley feels her husband is slipping away from her, and in an attempt to make him more open with her, she proposes an amendment to their marriage, But does a person who has kept secrets for so long ever reveal all of them?
I enjoyed the story. I was a little confused in some places until the plot caught back up with me in the next chapter. A surprise at the end rounded out the book well.
Sarah Mollo-Christensen voiced the parts of her family well. George Newbern did a fabulous job detailing Peter's feelings and compulsions. I truly felt like he was the voice of the character!
I recommend the book to mature readers, as there's some sexual scenes and triggering content.

Thank you Netgalley for this audiobook edition of The Amendment by Kiersten Modglin.

Here's the thing, I feel duped and I want my money back! I did not know what the whole premise of this series of the book was going to be until the very end of the first one. By then, I was already committed to the second one, and right out the chute, it's vile.

I've watched Dexter, I know how these things go. But when we're talking about just torturing and killing innocent people (mostly women), but still trying to make you a sympathetic character, I am clocking OUT. Nope, can't abide.

Could this be my favorite Kiersten Modglin novel ever?! I think so! I should start by saying that I don’t like sequels or series. As a rule, I don’t read them. But I read everything Modglin writes, so I broke my own rule with this one and I’m so glad I did. Sharp, sexy, and incredibly dark, this is my favorite author at her absolute best.

The Arrangement was probably my favorite book of 2021 and the sequel did not disappoint! The audiobook was short and sweet. The narrators totally nailed it again. The plot twists at the end get me every time! I hope there's a third book in the future!

Binged this duology today! The first one blew me away in the last two chapters... but after that incredible conclusion this book felt like a big let down. It was mediocre at best and I don't feel like it was needed. While The Amendment did it's job and entertained me, I would have been fine if I never read it and lived with the ending of the first one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

• sequel to The Arrangement
• entertaining and twisty
• more lies and secrets

I went back and forth between reading this one and listening to it. So I could finish it faster! 😂 It was so good and carried the story from The Arrangement perfectly. I also really liked the new characters. And that ending... 😱 Kiersten, we need more!!

This book drops on Tuesday and you should pre-order it now! It will also be available in KU.

🗣️ Thank you to Kiersten Modglin for the opportunity to read and review your book via eARC! And thank you to @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for the audio version. All opinions are honest and my own.

This book had so many twists and turns that I got dizzy!

If you want morally grey characters doing crazy things while you are suction-cupped to your book like a Garfield cat, this is your book.

I absolutely loved the thrills and twists/turns in this book. The ending...left me wanting for more! I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a fantastic job! I look forward to see what other "secrets" are hiding in Modglin's work and I truly hope there is a third book to follow. Thank you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for the advanced audio preview in exchange of an honest review.

Have you read The Arrangement? If not, you probably won't much enjoy The Amendment, as I'd consider it required reading before jumping in. Thankfully, The Arrangement is also an excellent Kiersten Modglin thriller, full of all kinds of twists and turns, so you'll love it. And then you'll eagerly dive right in to The Amendment, and drown yourself in new decadent thrills!

The first half(ish) of the book isn't slow, but it's also not breakneck twists and turns, while we settle back in with Peter and Ainsley and their super weirdo dynamic. But after that things pick up fast and we're hit with what seems like another twist every chapter. Every time you think this has to be it for the twists, another WTF bombshell hits.

I don't want to give anything away, so just know things progress from where we left off in The Arrangement into a whole new bizarre level of THIS COUPLE NEEDS SERIOUS HELP. There are some lies, and there are some devious schemes, and yup, some decent people die. Bad ones too, but that's not nearly as shocking. It happens, and we know it's coming, but it's all so amazing as it unfolds.

I received the audio version of The Amendment from NetGalley and Dreamscape media, in exchange for an honest review. And quite honestly, I loved it.
