This is the first book that I have read by @sarahaldersonauthor but it will not be my last! This thriller is told with alternating timelines and it has you wondering why a woman is living in a cabin with no electricity, hot water, and no transportation in the middle of nowhere in winter. It had me up way past my bedtime and just wanting to read one more chapter! If you love thriller novels, especially psychological thrillers, then I highly recommend this book. It was published this week, so no need to wait to pick it up!

Thank you @netgalley and @avonbooks for allowing me to read this book ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

This was such an intriguing story and I really appreciated that it was told in both past and present POVs.

This is one of those stories that is difficult to review without giving too much away, but the author did a wonderful job of building up the story and creating an intricate web of details that doesn’t reveal the entire picture until the very end. Rose was a fantastic character, and at first I thought seemed a bit weak and too dependent on the man that she married, but she shows her true strength and determination, as well as cunningness, as the story progresses. I couldn’t help but root for her and hold out hope that she would get the ending she deserved.

Definitely recommending this one!

Ok, this definitely was more serious than I expected it to be.
There was not nearly enough suspense moments and high tension scenes as I wanted however, I did end up enjoying this a lot.

We start off following a woman who is hiding out in a cabin from something but we don't know what that is yet and as each layer is peeled back and we learn more of her past and what brought her to this secluded cabin in the woods, the story takes a very serious and somewhat important turn.

Each chapter switches between 2 different timelines, present and past with the past being counted down to present times so we get this woman's entire life story and what exactly leads her to where she is now.

I loved Isabel and Gwen so much. We need to showcase strong and powerful woman like them more often because ooof they held this story together.

Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy!

The Cabin In The Woods gets an easy 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me. The story had me gripped from the first chapter where we find Rose hiding in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. I just had to know why she was there and who was she hiding from.

The story unfolds with short chapters alternating between past and present. It's a twisty story which is fast paced and tense. I loved that the plot was unpredictable and I found myself thinking about the characters when I wasn't reading.

I would definitely recommend this book to thriller fans. I'm very much looking forward to reading what Sarah Alderson writes next. She's become one of my favourite authors.

Sinister and scary in the best way possible. I absolutely think this book would be ideal for all thriller and mystery lovers. The characters are perfectly sketched and easily identifiable with.

This was perfect! Gripping, compulsive reading that had me reading until the early hours.
I loved going into reading this with very little description, it keeps it cryptic and surprising.
I really enjoyed the short punchy chapters, it made it hard to put down. The sense of foreboding is tense and brilliant. The perfect life laid out after such misery, you really root for Rose. She's a great, well put together character and being told from her point of view really helps you get on board.
A fantastic read, a great setting and brilliantly tense! Another spectacular read from Sarah Alderton.

In a cabin in a wood,
A woman by the window stood.
Glancing out, she thought she heard
Footsteps, whistling, something stirred.
Hiding here, she fears the night,
For what’s done in the dark will come to light.
She must run fast to escape her lie
Or she’ll be the next to die…

This is a gripping read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.

There are so many aspects of this book that I LOVED!! The short chapters, the character development, the progressive pacing to the ultimate twists, and the twists themselves! Alderson writes a captivating story that I couldn't put down for long! The empathy I felt for Rose can only be credited to the writer in crafting such a complex and likeable character that also made you wonder if you should actually be hating Rose. The twists and turns in book the past and present were equally interesting and when the timelines came together I had no idea what was about to happen! The suspense of it all was fantastic!

One frustration was with the highly unlikely ease of getting out of difficult spots. There was a bit much that I needed to ignore and not base in reality because of how conveniently situations unfolded. I was able to overlook most of this due to the equally poor luck in life that Rose endured. The story did balance well in that regard. Another issue I dislike with any book is the tagline on the cover alluding to something and then nothing ever coming of it. I expected the cabin to be a more pivotal location to the story and not simply a hideout.

I look forward to reading any book Alderson writes next!

Sarah Alderson captured my attention in the first sentence and never let it go with The Cabin in the Woods. 4.5 Stars!

Rose Reid is quietly hiding in this cabin and as the story unfolds we go back in this dual timeline to discover exactly what she is hiding from.

I don't want to say anything else about the plot, and the less is known, the better. Suffice it to say, this was a very well paced thriller that had me thinking I knew what would happen, yet it went well beyond.

I flew threw this story and possibly made my mom feel bad as I was so focused on it instead of chatting with her on the plane ride to NYC the other day. Sorry, Mom; I hope we made up for it!

I really enjoyed the twists in this story, even though it made it more horrible. I loved the characters who risked helping and exposing. I almost loved the ending and when anyone reads this, please, let's chat about it!! It was incredibly satisfying and necessary, so don't think I didn't like it.

Thank you @NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. It is available tomorrow and if you have any enjoyment of a true page turner, this must be put on your list!

Yet again, I am left impressed after reading a Sarah Alderson book!

The synopsis sounds sinister, doesn't it? Go in as blind as possible folks!

We meet Rose and her sister, Daisy in the beginning of the book and that section grabbed my attention and heartstrings and I wanted to know what became of them. I learned, boy did I learn. Rose meets Ryan when she waits on him and they have a fairy tale romance. He is her handsome prince who has swept her off her feet. It's the classis rags to riches story - with a twist.

All that glitters is not gold. Soon her dream come true, becomes a nightmare.

I loved that I had no clue where this book was going to go. I rooted for Rose throughout the book. She is a sympathetic character who deals with a lot in this book.

I didn't want to put this book down. I loved how the author told the book in various timelines. That really worked for me and kept me guessing. I also enjoyed how the sections with the cabin felt atmospheric and tense.

Another solid book from Alderson. She always nails the twists, turns, and reveals in her books!!!

Thank you Netgalley & Avon for the early copy of The Cabin in the Woods

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a suspenseful & twisty ride, that I read in just a few sessions. I did find it to drag in some parts, but that’s my unpopular opinion. Overall, great twisty tale!

In a cabin in a wood,
A woman by the window stood.

Glancing out, she thought she heard
Footsteps, whistling, something stirred.

Hiding here, she fears the night,
For what’s done in the dark will come to light.

She must run fast to escape her lie

Or she’ll be the next to die…

I think they left the synopsis vague intentionally, because you learn so much about the main character in each past/present chapters, the story unfolds itself.

Rose marries Ryan and she hopes this will erase her terrible upbringing. We first meet Rose hiding in an isolated cabin and bit by bit going back in time we learn what has brought her there. Heart pounding, jaw dropping , shut the front door good. Will be reading more from this author.

The book begins by us meeting Rose the main character who is out in the woods in a cabin after something terrible has happened. The book skips in time between past and present where we gradually find out more of the story and past with her and her husband Ryan. A lot of topics are covered in this book and some quite graphic, these include drug use, child abuse, death and sexual assault.

I found this book to be a good fast paced thriller which did keep me turning the pages although some things did seem to conveniently slip into place in the storyline which sometimes made it seem unrealistic.

Omg brilliant read. Couldn't put it down. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read in one sitting. Twisty and tense. Definitely highly recommended. You will not be disappointed. 5*.

I read this in one sitting as it was tense, fast paced and had my heart racing on more than one occasion.

Rose and her sister Daisy didn't have a great childhood. Their parents were both drug addicts and died when they were young. This left  them being brought up by their Grandfather.

Years later, Rose works as a waitress, which is where she first meets Ryan, her future husband and a gifted lawyer from a very wealthy family.

The couple soon marry and have a daughter. Things seem to be progressing well with Ryan's career going from strength to strength, until a guest at a party drops a bombshell to Rose! Is her husband really who she thinks he is?

What follows is a web of lies leading to a devastating chain of events for Rose. Who can she trust and will anyone believe her side of the story.

Written in chapters from the point of view of Rose in the past and present. This made me want to turn pages even faster. My favourite format in a thriller for sure.

A couple of twists and some edge of my seat moments, making this another massive hit for me.

Sarah has this special knack of creating truly believable characters (and evil ones)! Highly recommend this one if you enjoy a great thriller.

📣 Mentions rape and drug misuse.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and author for an ARC. Loved it!

Thank you to Netgalley, and Avon Books UK for an e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I actually think I'm in the minority for this book, it just wasn't the right fit for me and I think it comes down to the blurb and my initial expectations for this book. I expected a more fast paced thriller based on the description but this book is slow paced and doesn't really pick up until halfway throughout the book. The book is told via dual timelines, which I did enjoy for the most part.

After the real plot of the story begins things just seem to get far fetched to say the least and then everything got resolved so quickly at the end. I won't say that this was a bad book but it certainly wasn't what I was expecting.

Important note: this book focuses heavily on a lot of dark material such as drug abuse, physical abuse and rape.

Rose Reid went from rags to riches to alone in an isolated cabin hiding from something or someone. Hers is in first person POV and really takes you through her fear. Each chapter shows us both her past and present. The flashbacks work pretty well and we really see who Rose is.

This psychological thriller really puts the reader through the paces and when I got to one of the reveals, it was more shocking than I thought it would be. It’s a tense book that’s a page turner.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the eARC.

This is a brilliant book that I’d highly recommend.
I’m not sure that the title does the book justice as Rose’s stay in the cabin in the woods is a small part of the story.
Rose meets Ryan while she’s working as a waitress as a student. Their relationship takes off very fast and they’re soon married.
Ryan is very wealthy and likes things his own way but this doesn’t become clear to Rose until later in their marriage.
I won’t go into too much detail as you need to see how the story develops and how Rose reacts.
This is a great read that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I’m such a huge fan of Sarah Alderson and love the fact that I can never predict what she will come up with next! The Cabin in the Woods is set in the USA and teases the reader from the start by not telling them exactly what has happened but hinting at an horrific crime. Hiding out in a remote cabin is a woman fearing discovery and jumping at every little noise. Who is Rose Reid and what has happened to her to make her the suspicious, terrified woman hiding away? We gradually come to find out as we see Rose as a child and how she goes from rags to riches to….well, this!
It took me a while to get into the storyline initially but I quickly became gripped by the intensity of the emotional tension. Highly enjoyable with a few unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Sarah Alderson is fast becoming a must read for me. The Cabin in the Woods is the second book of hers I’ve read this year, and I am hungry for more.

Rose, a daughter of drug addicts, sees her life change drastically once she weds Ryan Reid, a billionaire who is planning to run for the governorship of New York. But we soon realize her life hasn’t changed for the better and in fact has become a terrible nightmare.

First we see Rose living in an abandoned cabin in the woods and it is obvious she has escaped from something traumatic. Told from two different time lines, we learn about Rose’s past and follow along with her life present day. This is a quick paced thriller and totally unputdownable. I was on the edge of my seat and finished this one in a day. The ending was completely satisfying as well. If you love thrillers you will definitely enjoy this one.

Note: this book can be triggering to some as there are themes of sexual assault and rape.
