I was excited to see there was a sequel to the 1st book which i loved, and it was lovely to be back in Mulberry on Sea. The characters were as warming as ever however this being a short follow up I felt it didn't flow as well as the 1st book and i felt the story was rushed which was a shame. That said i would still recommend and hopefully there will be a longer follow up before too long.

A Summer Holiday at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery: A Short Story by Alex Brown was great. Loved spending time in Mulberry-on-Sea again and meet up with the characters once more. In this book Bridget decides to reopen an old, abandoned bakery, however things do not go as straight forward as she planned. I loved it.

Fabulous short story following up on the first book in the series. It may be short but it is chock full of sumptuous treats, drama and romance.

Thank you Netgalley

A Quaint Read.
This is a lovely edition to Alex Brown's published works, it brings Bridget closer into the community and strengthens the relationships cultivated in Book 1.
Highly recommend

A lovely summer novella, which takes us back to Bridgette's Bicycle Bakery. As life continues, she decides it's time to expand her bakery, and hopes that get future with Jack is also settled, but doubts start to creep in with both. Will she get her happily ever after? A lovely short, summer read.

A lovely little follow up to the first book. We know see Bridget trying to open the old bakery in town, but has to take a big risk when no one actually knows who owns it. All the usual characters appear, including the dogs, for a light quick read full of fresh baked treats

I loved my first visit to Bridgets bicycle bakery, and it was great to get back there.
The shortness of this book ledt me wanting more, but getting back to mulberry on sea was as enjoyable as the first time.
I love the characters and the location and really hope we get to go back again soon for another visit and update.

It amazes me just how much can be shared in a short story!

The information we find out is important to Bridget’s life in Mulberry-on-Sea.

Loved spending a short time with the community again, in fact, this story highlights just how important community is 🙂

Bridget can be her own worst enemy …

The scrumptious makes and bakes left my mouth watering. There’s even a recipe for Biscoff croissants if you want to try your hand at baking.

I was left with that warm fuzzy feeling that all was right with the world.

If you haven’t read any of these books, I recommend you start at the beginning with the Carrington’s series.

I’m quite sad this is book 2 of 2. Fingers crossed Alex Brown feels drawn to writing about this world again in the future (although maybe not a gap of 9 years next time though 🙂 )

This was a short story, the next book in the bicycle bakery series. Bridget decides to take on physical premises and open her own bakery . A very enjoyable, feel good story but felt it deserved a full book
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins, One more Chapter and Alex Brown for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

This book is a short novella, a follow up to Christmas at Bridget's Bicycle Bakery. You definitely need to read the previous book. I enjoyed reading this book, even though it is very short. I'm really hoping that there will be more books in this series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

Next book in the Bicycle Bakery series. Bridget decides to open her own bakery & nothing goes as planned. A lovely feel good story, but I'm sure it could have been less rushed. I know it's a short story, perhaps more could have been made of the characters & the leading up to the conclusion.
In saying all that, I did enjoy this book.

Ever since I finished reading A Cosy Christmas at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery when it was published around Christmas of 2021 and subsequently discovering that there would be a follow up I was absolutely delighted as I loved the first book so much. Fast forward to summer 2023 and now we have A Summer Holiday at Bridget’s Bakery. I’ll be 100% honest and say I was disappointed to discover that it was only a short story and given the long wait to continue reading Bridget’s adventures you couldn’t really blame me when I found out how short it was at under 90 pages. But look pushing this aside, hopefully there will be more from Bridget in the future and I found this to be a short and sweet story which I sped through and did enjoy even if it did leave me hankering for more.

Bridget has been back in her hometown of Mulberry on Sea with her young family for quite some time. She returned after the sudden death of her husband and financial pressures grew and grew. Luckily, her husband’s parents stepped in and offered her a small beach house in the town and she has resided there ever since. The bicycle bakery she set up has gone from strength to strength and Bridget is renowned for her bakes and cakes leading to demand outstripping supply. The business has long outgrown the beach house just like her children twins Olly and Oscar and daughter Freya. People come from miles around for her breads, pastries and delicious cakes, cookies and so much more. So when an opportunity appears to buy the derelict bakery in Mulberry on Sea she jumps at it with the backing of her family and boyfriend Jack.

With so many memories of the bakery from her childhood when it was run by Jilly, Bridget hopes she can recreate those and add her own touch of magic. The only problem is the council do not know who owns the building so it can’t be used for commercial gain. That doesn’t stop Bridget and I adored her idea of a community space to be run alongside the bakery. Given the short length of this story there wasn’t much room for extensive character development or really much to happen in terms of events but Alex Brown does manage to fit in what she can. Bridget is a fantastic character who came from the depths of grief and followed her dreams and made a new life for herself and her children and she did this all through her passion of baking and along the way she met some incredible characters. I loved the little side plot with herself and Jack even if I could guess straightaway what was going and yes it was predictable. As for the owner of the building well that brought a smile to my face for sure.

For me, A Summer Holiday at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery was a tantalising teaser returning to Bridget’s world for the briefest of times. It’s a lovely, easy, super quick read but that feeling of wanting much more lingered once I had read the final word. Fingers crossed Alex Brown will be bringing us more from Bridget in the near future.

A Summer Holiday at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery is a novella sequel to Alex Brown’s lovely 2021 A Cosy Christmas at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery. In this story the reader finds widow Bridget Carrington three years later as she works to reopen the boarded up building that once housed the only bakery in the small hamlet of Mulberry-On-Sea.

The story follows Bridget’s quest to reopen the facility. No one seems to know who owns the property and the town council seems unable to help. But Bridget hasn’t come this far and been this close to stop now. Through perseverance the plan comes together and she is granted a six month lease to be renewed if she can make it work. With hours of elbow grease and an investment for repairs Bridget is able to realize her goals, but not without personal setbacks and surprising results.

This is a fun follow up to a very good novel and I hope there will be more in the future. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

What a cute little revisit to this world of characters! I always enjoying seeing characters I know and enjoy and seeing where their lives have headed! I found this to be quite a jump from one book to the other, but a necessary step in the progress of their lives!

I was happy to see the bicycle aspect of deliveries was still around even though things with the business are changing! I love that the older members of the community are so valued and cared for!

Hoping there is more to come with these characters!

Thank you to NetGalley, Alex Brown, and One More Chapter for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!
