"Young Oracle Tarot" by Suki Ferguson is like finding a beautifully wrapped gift that’s just waiting for you to unwrap it. The guidebook is visually stunning, with soft yet striking illustrations that make it a pleasure to flip through. It’s a lovely introduction to tarot, offering clear and simple interpretations that make the mystical world of tarot feel accessible, even for total beginners.
The book takes you through the basics without getting bogged down in overly complex explanations. It’s straightforward and friendly, like having a tarot-loving friend explain everything to you in a way that’s easy to digest. There’s a balance of lightness and depth, with just enough information to get you started on your tarot journey without overwhelming you. For beginners, it’s almost perfect. For more experienced readers, though, it might feel a bit too basic, but it’s still enjoyable.
Art and Presentation: If there’s one thing that stands out in this book, it’s the art. The illustrations are simply gorgeous—soft, yet full of life, with colors that draw you in. It’s the kind of book that you’ll want to leave open just for the pleasure of looking at it, even if you're not diving into tarot readings at the moment.
Final Thoughts: "Young Oracle Tarot" is a great book for anyone starting their tarot journey. It’s simple, beautiful, and easy to follow. I’m giving it four stars because, while it’s a fantastic resource for beginners, I didn’t quite walk away with as much new knowledge as I hoped. Still, it’s a visually stunning guidebook that’s a joy to read and explore. Perfect for tarot newcomers and anyone looking to add a bit of beauty to their practice.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review. Sadly the content within this book is not good for my mental health which I did not realise at the time so I am very sorry for that! I will give this 3 Stars as I couldn't review it properly. Apologies again!

I enjoyed this book and gave it a four out of five star. This is a good reference book if you’re learning to read tarot.

This is absolutely stunning!
The illustrations are all gorgeous, but it is also an incredibly useful book for anyone curious about tarot.
Not only does this book include an explanation of how to read tarot - it also has a section on the history of tarot cards.
Absolutely recommend!

Hmmm, I know I’m late to reviewing this and I’m so sorry to the authors and my fellow reviewers. I personally love tarot decks and I would say this is definitely up my ally and you should check it out if you are into tarot

Thank you Netgalley for sending me an ARC!
This book gives explanations about the tarot cards, which I was very curious to know about. I can not give an opinion about how too much or too little information is given as I did not have knowledge about this topic beforehand. However, I was satisfied with the descriptions and it was simple for me to follow.

Have no idea what tarot is but curious? This is a good book to give those who have no idea about the subject a little information.
This book explains each card in detail that is easy to comprehend, unlike some other tarot books. It even has a section that teaches a little about tarot throughout history.

I thought this was a very interesting book. tarot cards are interesting themselves and pretty much any deck you get are very beautiful. I think this book was very friendly towards people who do not know anything about tarot cards or know what to day with them. It is a great brief history about them and what each card means. Anyone who wants to get into reading them should pick up this book.

I enjoyed Young Oracle Tarot. It was laid out in a format that was easy to read but yet absolutely informative by explaining each card in detail. There are some tarot books that over explain to the point that it gets confusing. This was the perfect amount.

A cute little introduction to tarot. The illustrations are really nice and add to the book. Do get a few topics about tarot and a paragraph about each card. A quick book, really nice.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book has stunning illustrations and is beautifully done. It also includes interesting history and facts that are well done and interesting, and it is presented beautifully and well organized. I definitely recommend if you like to learn about tarot or if you like to read tarot cards. 4.5/5 stars from me

Young Oracles Tarot is a great introduction to tarot reading. It gives detailed information about the different cards in an easy to digest manner. I love the illustrations in this book. Overall it is beautifully done. I enjoyed the first section of the book about tarot through history. I would recommend this copy to anyone who is interested in learning tarot. The only problem I can see with this book is that an ebook copy wouldn't hold the same charm as the physical copy.

As someone that does not know anything at all about tarot, I really liked the information in this book. The illustrations are beautiful, and even if they don't consist of a lot of colors they are beautiful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that would like to learn more about the tarot. It's a great book.

⚔️This is one for the book witches and witchlings amongst you. Young Oracle Tarot is aimed at ages 11+ but I definitely think this would be suited for those who have an interest and want to start somewhere!
⚔️I adored how this book explains the art of tarot in a way that makes it feel so accessible. I’ve read some books before, even as a young teen, that made this all sound impossible and extremely confusing, but this is a breath of fresh air compared to them.
⚔️The illustration and layout of this book is breathtaking and you most definitely will want to find prints of some of the pictures in here. I can imagine teen me’s bedroom would have been plastered in them!
⚔️This guide contains a concise guide to each one of the different tarot cards and carefully explains different symbols and meanings.
⚔️One of my favourite parts is “Tarot Through The Ages” which gives a brief history of it’s uses. Now I want to go and read about the Victorian era and their obsession with magics and tricks!
⚔️I do feel this book would carry better in physical form and I believe the physical edition comes with foiled pages and a ribbon marker so it makes it that extra special.
⚔️This would make a perfect gift for the teenage witch/astrologer in your lives or even just someone with a fleeting interest wanting to know more!

A gorgeous introduction to Oracle Tarot. I would have adored this book in middle and high school. The illustrations are stunning and it's very readable, giving a wonderful introduction to Tarot and its history. This would make a great gift!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

Great beginner's guide to tarot! I've been wanting to start learning about it, and this was the perfect introduction for me. It's a good book to keep on hand as you start experimenting, so that you are able to refer to the techniques and card meanings explained. It really doesn't need any more information as it is, although it wouldn't suit a more experienced tarot user, this is a great way to start.

This highly illustrated guide to tarot is written for young readers. Described as a tool to solve problems and make decisions, tarot is designed to “unlock inner wisdom and steer destiny.” The goal is to enhance the reader’s intuition by connecting with the unconscious mind. The book is divided into three sections: “What is Tarot,” “About the Cards,” and “Reading of the Cards.” There is a brief interpretation of each card found in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Symbols are discussed, history and cultural issues are also addressed. Various card spreads for reading are included. While this book is designed for young readers, adults would find it simple way to use tarot as a tool for inner growth and intuition.

This book was absolutely beautiful! As an experienced tarot reader I was super excited to receive an early copy of this and boy am I glad I did! The drawings were breathtaking, I loved all of the information. The timeline of history, symbolism, definitions, etc. 10/10 recommend this for beginners!

Better explained the tarod, impossible!
What a beautiful book. It explains the tarod very well, from its beginnings to its current development.
Beautifully illustrated.

Tarot is something I've always been vaguely interested in but knew very little about. Young Oracle Tarot proved to be very informative in providing historical context for cartomancy, and I can see my teen patrons getting a lot of information from it as well. The images all seem appropriate and wholesome, along with the overall vibe of the book itself. There are frequent reminders that tarot is a tool for introspection, and to make sure that the reader is taking care of themselves throughout.
While I appreciate that it focuses on a single, readily available deck of historical significance (Rider-Waite-Smith deck), there are times when the description of each card seems almost excessive. This would be beneficial should this ever become an audiobook, but there were times when it was hard not to skim a card's description. I also had to get used to some of the side-by-side formatting for the cards and descriptions, but this is in no way a deal breaker.
I can imagine some of my teen patrons looking for a good resource for learning tarot basics, and this is absolutely the book I'd hand them. While I had some minor issues with it, this is still a great place for anyone looking to learn cartomancy basics to start.
