I really wanted to like this book, but I struggled with it. It did not resonate as something that would convince anyone to return to the Catholic Church. It was a personal narrative that heavily relied on quotes from Matthew Kelly and other writers.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Berry Tree Press for gifting me this audiobook by Susan R. Dolan - 4 stars!

As a lifelong Catholic, I never experienced the break from the Church that the author did. However, I felt that this short book contained lots of good information on having a good prayer life and being more mindful to our faith. I will definitely listen to this one again in the future to continue to commit to my faith.

The narration by Susan Bennett was well done as well.

This was a quick but poignant audiobook. I immediately felt a connection to the author, as I was also raised Catholic. I recognized the warmth and emotion she felt occasionally during mass, and the leaders in her church she felt drawn to who radiated joy. Dolan said that when she was younger, the mass made no sense to her so she closed her mind to it. But later in life, she reconnected with Catholicism in a deep meaningful way through study, prayer, and meditation. She says that, “silence and prayer are life’s great resets.” I believe people of all walks of faith will be able to connect to Dolan’s journey of rediscovering her spirituality.

I loved hearing Susan's journey of faith. It was real and open and wonderful. She gives her experiences with faith and her relationship with the catholic church that I could relate with even as a member of a different faith and with a different faith journey. She made her experience universally applicable and understandable, really well done.
