This is not your typical romance - it doesn't always give you the warm and fuzzy's, it gives you some real life relationship issues.

Abbie and Matt have been together forever, literally - 20 years or so as they were childhood sweethearts.

No one knows them better than the other, which is a good thing and a bad thing..

Abbie struggles with being with Matt for the rest of her life or walking away from her marriage.

She decides she is going to take a walk down memory lane, hoping it will save the day!

I liked this book, gave it 4 stars..

I just reviewed P. S. I Hate You by Sophie Ranald. #PSIHateYou #NetGalley

Really enjoyed this book. It put me in mind of Sophie Kinsella with a highly relatable set of characters and plot.

Abbie and Matt are in a rough spot in their marriage. Trying to conceive has taken all the fun and all the love away from the marriage, and Abbie is unsure she will be able to get it back, but at least she’s willing to try. She begins taking trips down memory lane to try to bring her and Matt back together again

A nice story of making relationships work during the hard times too, and not giving up. It didn’t hold a lot of emotions, I didn’t feel for the couple, as well as I could have, so that’s why it’s only 3*.

I thought this book would be a bit different to how it turned out to be. The name itself P.S. I Hate You wasn't completely accurate because at no point did I feel she really hated him, think she was just a little lost and didn't know where to go.

Regardless of slightly misleading title, I did enjoy this book. I don't know if that's because 10 years down the line, I could find myself in a very similar position to Abbie and Matt, having been with my boyfriend since we were 17. Reading about the rekindling of romance just sorta gives you hope, even if you're not at the point yet where it needs rekindling.

I thought the storyline was very relatable and real, lots of people would find themselves in similar positions, particularly when struggling to conceive. Though why adoption wasn't an option I'm not sure.

I would recommend this book though, was very easy to read despite the slightly tense topics at times.

'P.S. I Hate You' by Sophie Ranald is a poignant and, at times, heartfelt look at a marriage in trouble and how life challenges can dent even the strongest of bonds.

High school sweethearts Abbie and Matt have been together for twenty years. But now the spark has gone and Abbie wonders whether she still loves Matt every time she sees his dirty teaspoon sitting near the sink. None of this is helped by the fact they are both working from home in their kitchen.

Her close-knit group of friends - Rowan, Kate and who envy their long-time marriage advise her to undertake 'Operation Memory Lane' where Abbie and Matt to revisit their happiest moments. In doing both learn you can't revisit the past, but maybe just maybe by learning where and how things have gone astray they can create a happy future for them.

Through flashbacks and present day scenes, we learn their secrets and how one of their biggest challenges lead to present-day circumstances.

Both characters are relatable and you find yourself rooting for them to make it. It's clear both Abbie and Matt lost their ability to properly communicate and have each other's backs while battling their own feelings of grief, relief and sadness.

I particularly loved Ranald using animals cleverly as part of the plot - Abbie and Matt first meet at the bus stop thanks to a peanut-butter sandwich loving pigeon, Matt's birthday gift for her are a pair of rats, and in the present day Abbie and Matt find themselves feeding a neighbourhood street cat each day.

If you like to read how couples have to keep the love alive after the 'happy ever after', 'P.S. I Hate You' is one to read. It's moving, touching and a good reminder that love does take work at times to navigate through those hard bits.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Thanks NetGalley for this arc ! This is a second chance romance/ highschool sweethearts.
Abbie is a little stuck she’s been with Matt for 20 years. I honestly didn’t really like this book. I didn’t like the writing either. It took me a long time to read this book because it wasn’t as interesting to me

I always enjoy Sophie's books and this was no different. A meaningful story at its heart, but with the perfect balance of an entertaining rom com. A great read and I'd definitely recommend it to fellow lovers of uplifting rom coms with heart!

It was surprisingly super entertaining, It passed my expectations! So if you are looking for an easy, fun, but meaningful story, pick this book up!
I am living for second chance relationship and this story felt like one of the best ones! It was realistic, picturing all the struggles couples come across the years and then the revisiting the past theme hit hard!

This seems like a sweet love story but it’s actually a tough one. It talks about infertility and the possible loss of a marriage because of it. This is something I cannot imagine. It’s a great book but could be hard to read for some

I really enjoyed this book. I love how the character reflects on her marriage and her current relationships with others in her life. The way she is able to self reflect and remember her past is beautifully written.

A great read. Lovely story of the trials and tribulations that Abbie and Matt have to go through in their relationship. Some very emotional parts in their journey.

It’s normal to hate the man of your dreams, right?

Once upon a time, Abbie and Matt had swoon-worthy mini breaks in Paris, and Abbie would cook him steak wearing nothing but an apron and high heels. These days, they’re experiencing the longest dry spell on record… And Abbie is keeping a very big secret.

But she’s not ready to give up. Nobody knows Abbie like Matt does, and it helps that he’s tall, dark and handsome, with hazel eyes and dimples to die for.

Determined to reignite the romance, Abbie initiates Operation Memory Lane and recreates their happiest memories. Maybe breakfast in bed, sexy lingerie, dirty martinis and a romantic weekend in the countryside will bring back Abbie’s butterflies and make her giddy with happiness…

But revisiting the past is a risky business, and secrets always come out in the end. Will the truth ruin their second chance at love?

Laugh out loud, funny, Rom com, loved it

A wonderful #womensfiction book about high school sweethearts married & later in life, have lost their spark. They don’t hate each other, just not lovey-dovey anymore.
I love this story of catching a romance later in life after the honeymoon stage is over. In love with this love!

2 stars. I wanted to enjoy this one so much more but it fell pretty flat for me.

Definitely for you if you enjoy:
- Second chance romance
- High school sweethearts
- Alternating timelines

Abbie and Matt fell in love when they were 17 and 20 years later, they’re married but not completely in love. When Abbie realizes this, her friends suggest a trip down memory lane and trying to reignite the flame. While recreating dates and trips and trying to fall back in love, it uncovers secrets and that they aren’t exactly who they were when they were 17. It also opens their eyes to who they are and how they can grow up together from where they are now.

ugh I soooooo wanted to like this one! this book was just very boring and really didn’t pick up until about 65% of the way through. even when it did pick up, it wasn’t anything incredibly exciting. i wanted more humor and more arguments and more of a moment when one of them realized they were still in love (a la You Deserve Each Other).

i has to mention this was taken place in england and maybe people in the UK would find this book funnier? i found some moments funny but it didnt even get a smile out of me. abbie and matt were flat characters and there seemed to not be any chemistry as lovers or enemies (which the tagline on the cover insisted). the summary was misleading to what this book was, which is boring and very tame. i love second chance romances with hijinks but this book unfortunately did not deliver.

I also didn’t like that the present timeline was in first person narrative and the past timeline was in past tense. it made for something a little more confusing and i believe the author should’ve stuck to one or the other instead of including both.

This one took a long time to read. I just had no urgency or want to pick it up because it was so slow and not as fun. There were some moments that were humorous and touching but they were so sparse, it was hard to connect to the characters.

thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in turn for an honest review.

I was drawn by this cover and excited to dive in. I loved the premise of falling back in love with someone, which is so much more realistic and warrants more representation in the rom com world. In practice, though, I struggled with the back and forth POV - it felt like the story was more about their past than their present. I ultimately did not finish the book. Thank you for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Abbie and Matt were high school sweethearts brought together by a pigeon but twenty years later, it's the little things in a marriage that have Abbie questioning if she still loves her husband, after all they are always together as they both work from home and the small things he does have come to irritate Abbie.
.With the help of her friends, Abbie concocts a plan to rekindle their love, what could go wrong!

I felt Abbie with my whole soul. Being married is hard enough without being together 24/7.
I don't think it was even Matt's fault, you become complacent and you have to work on a marriage and choose to love your spouse every day.

I enjoyed reading the misadventures and it was a really enjoyable read.

I received an advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

Second chance romances, especially those revolving around saving a marriage, tend to be very hit or miss for me so I was a little nervous going in. Turns out, I had no reason to be.

As long as you know what you are getting into and you aren't expecting a meet cute, first kiss, etc., this is a great story about love, marriage, and connection. I really enjoyed watching Abbie and Matt work through their differences and find one another again.

Overall, Abbie and Matt's story was very realistic and believable which was different from a lot of the typical romance stories I read where things are so outlandish, they'd never happen in my reality. For example, a lot of the stress on Abbie and Matt's relationship stems from the fact that they were spending so much time together while working from home. This is a situation many people unexpectedly found themselves in these last two years and such a drastic change in routine is bound to disrupt the flow of a relationship.

Thank you to the publish and the author for providing a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Abbie and Matt were a perfect couple ... at first. Now, they're fighting all the time over silly things, and the magic has gone. So Abbie hatches a plot to remind them both of why they got married in the first place!

I was expecting something light, but this book was actually a bit heavy in places. I enjoyed it well enough, but something about it just didn't pull me in and I found it a bit forgettable.

I adore Sophie Ranald, I always know I’m going to have a read with great characters and a lot of laughs. This book definitely hasn’t disappointed.

This is another fun and addictive read. I have devoured page after page in just one sitting. I found myself completely captivated and unwilling to put this down.

Abbie and Matt are wonderful characters and have made this book a great read. I’ve loved the journey throughout this book with them.

Ranald has made me feel all the feels as I’ve read this one. I cannot say anything negative about this book. It’s a fab read and quite possibly my favourite.

I’ll definitely be recommending this book.
