I always enjoy reading her poems. Some of them are pretty heavy and I don’t agree with everything she says. However, she does paints a vivid picture

DNF @40 pages

How excruciating and mind-numbing those 40 pages were. amanda lovelace is very hit or miss for me and this was a HUGE miss. Like flying past my head and thrown into a lake because my eye wasn't on the ball kind of miss. My main gripe is that every right page was titled "her books say" and was a poem about the collective themes of lovelace's poetry. Imagine pandering your audience into listening to you talk about how great of a poet you are while not actually saying anything. Where's the whimsy and retelling of her previous poetry collections? What a disappointment.

Amanda Lovelace had been one of my favorite poets for a few years now and her collections never disappoints! Another wonderful collection of poems! I definitely need to get the whole collection for my home!

Amanda Lovelace is brilliant. I have loved each and every one of her books.
While this is the end of one of the series, I know she will release many more powerful books.

while not every poem will be a sure hit, there were a ton that hit my heart in different ways.

I may need to buy a physical copy of this one too.

Much of the poetry in this book pertains to themes around finding one’s life purpose and listening to your heart and doing what makes you happy. It also touches on numerous topics, and keep in mind there is a trigger warning at the beginning of each section, as some of the topics written about can be quite heavy. Many of the poems resonated with me, especially those about trying to never take our time for granted, remembering to be mindful and present, as well as staying true to your authentic self. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader copy of this book to read and review.

Unluck Your Storybook Heart is the third and final instalment in the You Are Your Own Fairy Tale trilogy. This wasnt my favorite poetry book by Amanda Lovelace, but I still enjoyed reading it.

As a fan of the previous two installments in this series, I was definitely intrigued when I saw Unlock Your Storybook Heart, the third and final book in the You Are Your Own Fairy Tale series. 📖🗝💕

Not only is Beauty and the Beast one of my favorite fairy tales from my childhood (a bookish princess, hello?), but I myself have dealt with what used to be crippling perfectionism, so I was very invested in this poetry collection from the get-go.

Reading this collection, I couldn’t help becoming completely entranced, and yes, shedding a few tears. 🤧 It was very easy to lose myself in Lovelace’s writing here. And reading her work took me back to the days when my perfectionism was something I really struggled to manage. I also loved the sapphic aspect of this collection (something I don’t think Lovelace has touched on in her previous works?)! Honestly, this poetry book was just a big, bubbling cauldron of everything and anything that gets me in my feelings – and it definitely achieved what it set out to do.

I did go back and forth with how to rate this collection because I honestly really loved it, but I did also find some poems within it disjointed and the flow staggered a little at the beginning. In the end, I think the feelings it invoked within me did deserve their credit, so I erred on the side of more forgiving when rating.

Perhaps it’s my bias – really though, who writes an unbiased book review?! – but Unlock Your Storybook Heart was the right story to conclude this collection with and my absolute favourite one of the bunch. 💓

Thank you to the publisher, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC of this book. All thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed this collection and recommend it! I enjoyed reading it and there were a couple of poems that I truly resonated with. I did give this collection a 4.5 out of 5 stars because I was not as obsessed with this collection as I was with previous ones. I still recommend this and all of Amanda Lovelace’s works. Excited for the next one!!

I also had this collection preordered because Amanda Lovelace is an author I automatically purchase from.

Another solid poetry collection from Lovelace. The prose really encapsulates a lot of the emotional struggles people face, and as always gets me right in the feels. The illustrations were also lovely!

Another great collection from Amanda Lovelace. I adored the connection to books in these poems. Lovelace always finds a way to make her words recognizable and relatable to anyone.

As a fan of Amanda Lovelace, I'm always excited to see that she has a new collection out. I've really loved all the collections in the You Are Your Own Fairy Tale series, and Unlock Your Storybook Heart is no exception. I love how it explored trauma, love, and self-growth. It is another knockout collection, and if you're a fan of Lovelace's poetry (and even if you're not), you should go get a copy. In case you still need convincing, here are some of my favorite verses.

"her cat is always there for her, even when nobody else bothers to be."- her soft companion.

her books say: you don't have to pick the big job in the big city if that's not what you want. it's okay to pick a calmer, quieter life. it's okay to pick the small seaside town where everyone knows a little too much about everybody else. it's okay to pick the job where you get to place your favorite books into eager hands all day long, only to go home & read all night long. no life is inherently more important than the other. the only thing that matters is that you pick the life that makes you excited to greet the morning sky each day.

"put the phone down. no, not forever. just sometimes. not because it's the root of all your problems, like they claim, but because it can make you forget that you even have roots. stop comparing your life to theirs. stop endlessly doomscrolling. stop giving away your energy. even if just for a moment, find your inner stillness. feel mother earth beneath your tired feet. breathe in. breathe out. let her restore your peace."- as many times as you need

I am a huge fan of Amanda Lovelace's style. This poetry collection is about empowering women to take over their own fairy tales. The third and final installment in her feminist collection.is a must-read.

This author has a series of books that are incredibly popular, and this is the latest in that line. However, I didn't like this one as much. It felt less inspired (to me, at least) and just a little passionate. A lot of topics were covered and maybe that was the problem? Each topic didn't get enough time? But the poems didn't feel like poems sometimes - it felt more like a self help book. Not my favorite.
