This is a really cute, summer beach read. It's an enemies to lovers, opposites attract romance with a little fake dating thrown in for good measure. The NC barrier island/beach/aquarium small town setting are perfectly summery, and the scene-stealing supporting characters, from Ursula and the town dogs to the Charlie's Angels octogenarians make it a fun ride. I haven't read the first in the series, but this one stands alone quite well. That said, I'll definitely read more in this series!

A Line in the Sand is a well written romantic journey with relatable characters and emotions!
Molly’s not open to love but her friends and puppy Ursula want to change that!
Max isn’t impressed when Ursula is a continual interruption to his research project, but soon he thinks otherwise. Ursula is the perfect addition to the storyline, distraction is bound to turn to attraction when Max keeps bumping into Molly!
I loved this book, plenty of intrigue, warm characters and romance, a perfect beach read!

Congratulations to the publisher, NetGalley and, a new author for me, Teri Wilson on a wonderful read of romance and cuteness!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Line in the Sand is an adult contemporary romance by Teri Wilson and it is completely adorable. I enjoyed this book. Obviously, my favorite character was Ursula- the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppy, but the human characters in the book were pretty good too. :p If you are in the mood for a quick read that is perfect for lounging by the pool or sipping a cool beverage of your choice at the beach, A Line in the Sand hits the mark for a carefree cute romance.

In A Line in the Sand, we meet our main characters Molly and Max. Molly is a town staple and local and Max is new to town marine biologist who has come to help his uncle out in running the town aquarium. I instantly liked Molly. It took me a little while longer to warm up to Max. After Max fires Molly from her gig as the aquarium's resident Mermaid in an attempt to save it some money, the hijinks ensure from there. This book was legitimately funny and I loved seeing all of the town's residents butt their way in between Max and Molly.

I found a Line in the Sand to be a super quick, easy and fun read.

This read was just what I needed to get out of a slump I have been in! It was engaging, easy to fall into and kept me thoroughly entertained. I love it when a story becomes like an afternoon spent with a good friend and "restores your soul" with its goodness and delight. This is a book of that nature. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and it will not disappoint!

A Line in the Sand 4/5 Stars
Summary from Goodreads: USA Today bestselling author Teri Wilson brings you the perfect beach read rom com with a bright, sparkling love story featuring:
A heroine who's vowed never to date again-for real, this time!
Her rambunctious Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy
The handsome and brilliant marine biologist she can't ignore
And the nonstop antics of her friends determined to be matchmakers
Sparks fly when Molly Prince's puppy Ursula constantly disrupts the beachfront area where new-in-town marine biologist Max Miller is studying sea turtle mating habits. Max and Molly are instantly attracted to each other, but Molly dismisses Max out-of-hand. She's not dating anymore. Maybe not ever, since her last relationship ended in a spectacular disaster. As for Max, he refuses to take Molly seriously when her job is to play pretend as the aquarium's mermaid. But when Ursula won't stop digging in Max's beachfront yard and reveals her unique ability to sniff out sea turtle nests, she might bring these two opposites close enough to help save the turtles, and maybe even save the aquarium...

This was such a cute book! I loved everything about it! From the setting on a beach in NC to the aquarium to the meddling seniors to all the cute pups, there was nothing not to like about A Line in the Sand! It was just a fun, quick, cute summer read, and it was exactly what I needed this month. I really enjoyed all of the characters- especially our geriatric Charlie’s Angels- and Ursula the dog. The turtle hospital was super cool (I think there’s actually one of those at the NC beach I’m going to later this month, so you can bet that I’ll be heading there). Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I think y’all definitely need to check it out this summer!

Molly saves a stranger from drowning in the ocean, only to find out later, he's her new boss! But not for long, as Max wastes no time firing her AND her dog from their position as mermaid and lobster at the aquarium. As Molly scrambles to find her way, Max quickly realizes Molly wasn't just a mermaid and he might actually need her.

First of all, did I request this book from Netgalley, solely because it has a King Charles Cavalier on the cover, without realizing it was a sequel, well yes of course.

Secondly, did I go ahead and read the first book and end up finding the most adorable perfect small town romance series with all the dogs? Also yes.

If you love a good, innocent romance, with not a lot of spice but will make you smile, this series and book is where it's at. If you love dogs, then this is definitely a series for you. I love how all the dog names fit with what their human loves and how their personalities match their humans. I did like the plot/story in A Line in the Sand more so than the first book. It was just soooo sweet!

Molly is a mermaid at her local sea turtle hospital and aquarium, greeting guests and bringing fun and laughter to visitors of all ages. Her adorable dog Ursula even works with her dressed as a lobster! But Max moves to town to become the new director of the aquarium and Molly and Ursula are the first things cut in an effort to save the financially failing organization.

While Molly is lovely and creative, Max is very buttoned up and focused on succeeding in his work life. She is convinced she’s done with dating forever and he can’t see much past the weight of saving the aquarium. The two butt heads but still feel a pull towards one another.

One night they discover that Ursula can track sea turtle nests and it slowly starts to turn around their tense relationship. You’ll have to read to hear about how everything turns out.

This was a very cute, lighthearted read, perfect for a beach vacation. It did take me until about the 50% mark to be really invested in the story, but I flew through the second half. The people in the town are super quirky, there was an enjoyable storyline with Molly’s fundraising ideas coming to life, and of course it was filled with lots of adorable dogs. I do wish there was a bit more of a build up between the main characters to show a reason for their attraction/love but I’m also a huge slow burn fan, so that could just be me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This is the perfect beach read , it's fun and super sweet..The story follows Molly and Max who, after a life saving first encounter, don't get along well..I loved the enemies to lovers romance between them plus it's a small town romance and I really like this combination!

"Mermaids? Little toy spaniels named Ursula? And why so many dogs? An enormous poodle with pink bows on its ears poked at Max with a narrow snout. He felt like Alice, falling down a very deep and uncommonly sandy rabbit hole."

The author does a very good job as describing the atmosphere and details of the surrounding world, I loved the writing style a lot, it's in 3rd person.

If you are looking for an easy read and fun this is what you need!

Molly saves Max from drowning and it just may be a case of kismet. Except shortly after, Max fires Molly. What could have been destiny instantly turns into a case of "this town ain't big enough for the both of us".
Teri has been a long-time go-to author for me when I need a sweet and quirky, easy, breezy romance. I can always count on her for a romcom with a fun cast of characters. I haven't been much in the mood for a contemporary romance lately but, even so, I enjoyed the return to Turtle Beach and the cameo appearances of characters from A Spot of Trouble.
Thank you to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This was such a quick and fun summer romance read!! I loved the writing style and was transported to the cute small town of Turtle Beach. I loved the community aspect of it and the daily activities such as yoga and bingo for everyone to join in on.

The start of the book starts with Molly rescuing Max from drowning at the beach where they both have an instant attraction to each other. However Molly has sworn off dating after her last relationship and Max struggles to take her dress up mermaid job at the aquarium seriously after taking over the business. They don't start off on the best foot and you see how their relationship develops over the course of the book. I was so here for the town antics of trying to set them both up with each other.

I liked Molly as a main character and her cute little puppy Ursula. I loved how passionate she was about her job and saving the aquarium. Max on the other hand was very serious and focused on the logical side of things rather than emotional. Over the course of the book you see how Molly helps break down these barriers. They had great chemistry and some of the moments between them were so cute! One of my favourite parts of the book was the aquarium and the focus on rescuing the turtles and seahorses. This is where the book really shined and was different to anything else I've read in a contemporary romance.

I didn't really like the reason for the conflict and what happened afterwards, I thought this part could have been written slightly differently to make it more impactful. I also really wish we got an epilogue to see more of Max and Holly together as a couple because the ending felt quite abrupt. Overall it was such a cute and fun read!!

Read this book if you like:
✔️ Grumpy x Sunshine
✔️ Opposites attract
✔️ Small town light beach romance
✔️ Are a dog or turtle lover

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review 😊

The story of two very different personalities finding themselves constantly shoved together by circumstances and some very nosy geriatrics is fun and a great beach read material. This is why it took me a while to fully process how I felt about this one because I enjoyed the antics of the people of Turtle Beach and the opposites attract romance had some fantastic moments, but, in the end, I could not get over how annoying I found leading lady Molly's supposedly charming quirkiness. I admit to skimming most of the scenes with her, which is bad because that's more than half the book.
I understand that the weird and awkward things that Molly does are supposed to be seen as cute and charming, but it's very obvious that she is doing everything in her power to not face up to her issues and that's why she acts as she does. It takes away from how smart and determined she is and had me constantly wishing that she'd just fess up to her true feelings.
Overall, this one's fun and the rest of the characters are great, but it lost me with the lead and there's no coming back from that.

Happy thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the quirky read!

Don’t hate me, but I really found the main character a bit too annoying for my taste. Molly was a bit too much throughout the whole book. I don’t understand why she could not chill for a bit. I understand she wanted a break from dating, but did she really? Throughout the whole book, she kept swooning over this marine biologist, Max. And I did not feel the connection between Molly and Max.

A line in the Sand is a cute fairy tail story about a girl, a guy and a dog. I love how the author brings conservation to the book. Sea turtles are amazing creatures that have a special place in the story.

Molly is a mermaid at a local aquarium and Max is the new director. Things start off Rocky, especially when Molly's dog Ursala comes in. Max isn't so fond of the dog but she wiggles her way into his heart, just like Molly does.

I was hoping for more dog finding sea turtle nests, but it was the cutest thing! This book really was a special book that I could definitely see myself re-reading.

So, where do I start? Yes, I had high hope for this book. However, I was very disappointed with it. This didn't really seem like an adult or even a young adult novel. This book seemed to be geared more towards the pre-teen crowd.

Several things I really disliked were that there was truly nothing about the main characters that made me 'feel' anything for them. They were childish, self-absorbed, immature, and silly. Also, the overabundance of dogs was a put-off for me; although dog lovers may like this aspect, I suspect that even the most avid dog-lover will be a bit put off by this many pups.

These are some things that I did like:

Clean -no sex whatsoever, just a lot of thinking about kissing. Sometimes I just need a book with no heaving chests, passionate thoughts, or explicit descriptions of sex. No, I'm not a prude-but I have to be in the mood!!!

Some people won't like the elderly people in this story-it is the one trope that I did love. However, I like the trope of the feisty elderly person, and the twist at the end of the book made this aspect even better.

I did like the idea of the dogs being able to sniff out the turtle's nests. It would be cool if they really could do such a thing.

I loved learning more about how a rescue center like this works, and I also liked learning more about the sea horses.

All in all, this was not a horrible book; it was just a bit too fairytale-ish for my tastes.

A Line in the Sand by Teri Wilson
Turtle Beach series book 2. Contemporary romantic comedy. Can be read as a stand-alone but some characters from the first book play a role though minor.
He fired the mermaid. And her dog that was dressed as a lobster. Even though she had saved his life the previous day from drowning.
Molly loves the aquarium. She loves the children that visit and the social benevolence of saving the sea turtles on the local beaches. What else will she do now that she’s been fired?
Never fear, the elderly group of locals have a plan.

A fun romp of discovering the joy of living and loving in the moment as Max learns more about island life, while being put through the paces of yoga, bingo, wheelchair volleyball, and a Cavalier King Charles puppy that simply adores him.
The interfering elderly were a hoot!
4.5

Molly and Max just too cute!

I really liked the dynamic of the characters here having Max start out the way he did helped make the story seem real. This a great romcom for the end of summer!
