Sorry, I just couldn't absorb this story properly with the 3rd person/present active tense narration style of writing in this book - not a style I have read much in a romance. My brain kept trying to convert everything to past tense, as that would have made way more sense to me. I would have enjoyed this story in first person too, as I felt the way it was written actually threw me out of the story and made a personal connection with the H/h impossible. Also, there are lines in italic that are obviously internal observations from the characters, which is awkward, as it breaks the whole point of the third person narration style.

If you like this POV trope, then I'd stay it's a well written and entertaining story and I note many other reviewers loved this women's fiction/romance. I just couldn't make myself like it, which is very disappointing, as the story itself is fun. My thanks go to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the eARC in return for my honest opinion.

With Neighbors Like this is the perfect “mom-com” (mommy fiction or women’s fiction)! I loved it so much that I devoured it in one sitting. The characters are phenomenal, and readers everywhere can connect with Amelia as she depicts motherhood remarkably! And the way she handles her issues and connects with her kids is really sweet. I just adored her to pieces! I love a story like this because its realistic, relatable, and truly down to earth. We all face problems and being able to say “yup, I know what she’s going through” makes it so easy to fall into the story and feel like you’re right alongside the characters. Tracy Goodwin really hit this one out of the park.

If you’re a fan of “mommy-fiction” (if that’s not a thing them I’m making it one LOL) with a dash of romance and characters that will do ANYTHING for their children (including going against an HOA- the main plot of this story) then this one if for you! It’s a sweet read and I am hoping that Amelia’s two best friends will have their own stories. I just love how Tracy wrote this one!

This is a cute rom-com about Amelia having a second chance at love after her divorce. At the beginning I really struggled with the writing style, the different tenses kept throwing me off. It felt like as the reader we were being spoken to rather than the characters to each other at times.

I loved Amelia as a main character and how great she was with raising her two kids in Houston. All she wants is to live a quiet life with her kids but the HOA rep Carla starts sending law violation letters to her at every whim. It starts with a garden gnome in Amelia's front yard that her kids gave to her for mothers day. I loved that Amelia stood by her values and fought back against them.

It was interesting to see the dynamic with Kyle her neighbour who is found out to be the HOA president. As much as this was marketed as enemies to lovers I couldn't really see that throughout the book as Kyle tried to help her. That being said I really enjoyed their banter and liked that they became friends first as it made their relationship more believable. Please be aware before reading this that it is a very slowburn.

If you're looking for a fun cute romance read with a single mother main character this book might be for you!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review😊

Look, I am not hating on my books. It’s just that some romance tropes are just overuse sometimes. In this particular book, the enemies to lovers trope was definitely overused. I truly did not understand where the two main characters were enemies to lovers. I just don't get the vibe. I felt more of neighborly rivalry than enemies per say. And don’t get me started with the characters' chemistry.

This was a fun and funny story about a newly divorced single mom who moves into a new neighborhood and is stuck fighting against the HOA rules to keep a beloved gnome. Lots of laughs with some romance in the form of the HOA president, I really enjoyed this women's fiction/love story perfect for fans of Christina Hovland's Mommy wars series. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced digital copies in exchange for an honest review!

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casa for an advanced copy of With Neighbors Like This.

As someone who lives in a HOA with a few power hungry neighbors I had to laugh at a lot of this book. It was cute book and I liked everything Amelia did for her kids. Though at times they felt like they should have been younger than they were.

The story of Amelia and Kyle. She is new in town and clashes with the HOA.
He can't keep away from her, even if it breaks his self imposed rules on dating a single mother, so will they have a future together?
A great read - I hope that Amelia's friends get their own books too!

A single mom moves into a new neighborhood with her children and almost instantly gets into a battle with the HOA over a lawn gnome. But when she meets the HOA president, he is very attractive, and as gnome-gate gets more intense, Amelia and Kyle become good friends, and maybe even more.

This book was so cute. I really appreciated seeing Amelia as a mother throughout this story. I loved how she was really there for her kids and was so wonderful and supportive as a parent. Even better, we saw her go through a healing journey of her own and still have time for herself. I’m not a parent, but I felt this was a really good depiction of motherhood. In addition to that, this book had some really funny moments. I loved the HOA battle and gnome-gate was so entertaining!

I switched between ebook and audio and really enjoyed Eva Wilhelm’s narration.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the advance copies.

With Neighbors Like This is a cute mom-com/ rom-com about second chance love. Amelia is a single mom raising her two kids in a new to her Houston subdivision. She somehow gets the wrath of Carla, the management company’s rep on the HOA board. Carla sends HOA law violation letters at every whim. And at every turn, HOA President and fellow neighbor, Kyle, becomes friends and maybe something more as Amelia makes it her mission to take Carla down.

This book combines the second chance romance with cute kids and a group of friends that I would like to be a part of!

Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for the eARC.

Reading this book was so much fun, OMG!! I was looking for a book that I could binge read and I found With Neighbors Like This to be perfect for that case! ❤️ This book is more of a women's fiction rather than romance. I finished reading it in a day ~ that’s how amazing the book was.

Amelia was such a lovely protagonist! I was surprised seeing how much I could relate to her, even though she is a lot older than me. I cannot obviously comment on motherhood personally, but I felt that the portrayal of the issues that Amelia faced as a mother, were so realistically written. It was really touching to see her grow as a character. I loved her conversations with her kids so, so much. We love to see healthy communication + a safe safe between parents and kids. 👏

Now about the romance. The relationship between Amelia and Kyle followed a friends-to lovers kind of pattern and I really enjoyed that. Of course, with that trope a lot of slow-burn is involved and I quite enjoyed that aspect of the relationship. The the banter between them so enjoyable!!! I love witty dialogue and this book and a lot of it. The humor, the drama, the plot twists - everything was pitch perfect. ✨

I cannot recommend this book enough! Go order a copy for yourself today 💜

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

Fighting an HOA over a gnome are the exact right buzzwords to make me want to read a book. The fact that the gnome was given to Amelia by her kids and is helping them feel like their new house is a home after the divorce from their dad - cute fodder for the fight, and makes you want to root for her. Doesn't hurt that the person who keeps picking these fights is a terrible human, so you want to see them fail. HOA president is a cute guy who loves her kids? Great, we see where this is going.

Pros: it was written well, it was easy to read, and it was cute. It shows a really human aspect of a messy situation, and Amelia is doing a great job being a mom & trying to raise her kids in a positive manner. There are a lot of good morals being taught to the kids in this book, and overall it does a great job showing single-moms trying hard and being good at being moms, while still being human and struggling.

Cons: I wanted her to go to therapy *SO BADLY*. The fact that it wasn't until 90% of the way through the book that it even crossed her mind that her kids - and she herself! - might need to talk to a professional about the major events that had just transpired, was infuriating. I am glad it did finally get there, but, so much of the relationship drama could have been avoided if a professional counselor had been involved. I also was frustrated by the entirety of the romance in this book. Like, I understand the wanting to protect your kids, but some of the relationship back and forth that was happening felt a little too excessive for me. However, I am not a mother in any way, so I have no idea if this is realistic, so I could be completely off base.

Overall, the book was cute, and there were a lot of great moments in it. I think it really just wasn't for me though - I think I wasn't quite the right demographic/my interests didn't align right, for me to fully appreciate this book the way others will I'm sure.

This is a Romance. I loved this book so much. I found this book funny at times, cute at times, hard hitting at times, and just a great read with great characters. Amelia is a newly divorced single mom that is trying to move on after her ex-husband cheated on her. Kyle is a good guy that is the HOA President that has also been burned in the past. This is just everything I wanted, and I loved seeing both these characters moving on and getting stronger. This is a fun read, but this is not a cute sweet romance book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Sourcebooks Casablanca) or author (Tracy Goodwin) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I love me a good mommy drama! There’s something about a single mom standing up for herself and her kids in the face of a snooty neighbor that I just can’t resist.

With Neighbors Like This reminded me of The Truth and Other Hidden Things, Welcome to the Neighborhood, and Mom Jeans and Other Mistakes. Wow, this genre loves its long titles!

The scenes of Amelia putting Carla in her place were, of course, my favorite.

I enjoyed Amelia as the main character. She was strong, confident, and a great advocate for her kids. I liked her wit and sarcasm. I’m not sure how she balanced a full-time job, single motherhood, researching tenant’s rights and still had time to organize Easter egg hunts, but somehow she stayed on top of it all! In fact, she was such a good mom that her worst offense was having to move her kids’ gnome from the front yard to the back.

Kyle was so sweet, especially with Amelia’s kids. I wish we got to see more of his backstory and what hurt him in his past. I do think I wanted a little more out of the romance than we got. Both Amelia and Kyle were frustratingly wishy-washy about whether they wanted to be together. I liked that the romance took a back seat to Amelia’s relationship with her children, but I feel like there still could have been a little more, given that we got to see a decent amount of Kyle’s thoughts!

I absolutely loved this book! If a book could be an anthem this one would be a Single Mom's one. Amelia is one hell of a mom doing all she can for her two sweet children. She is being both the mother and the father and giving her all to the kids. If anyone deserves a happy ending it's her!

I wouldn't say this is the standard romance book it's so much more than that. This is a story a recently divorced mom of two rebuild the life of the kids and herself. There is a slow burn love in the mix but the book doesn't center around it and that's what makes this one so special.

Amelia Marsh is recently divorced and she has just moved with her two kids to the Castlerock development in Texas to be closer to her best friends. The only thing that the kids asked of her with the move was that she placed the gnome they made for her in their front yard so that it "feels like home". Enter the manager hired by the HOA of the development to tell her that the "atrocity" has to be removed as per the bylaws. Let the Game of Gnomes begin! The only thing throwing her off her game is Kyle Sanders, her neighbor with "the abs", who's also president of the HOA...

I had a little trouble writing this review because I can't figure out what this book is: rom com? Women's fiction? Comedy? Family drama? It never sticks to one focus and it leaves you a little confused. I was hoping for LOL moments with the whole Gnomegate but they never really came. I wanted an epic battle with Carla, the evil manager, and it kinda came but fizzled out. There IS romance, but it's so in the background and they only get together in a very Hallmark-y way - with a kiss right at the very end. There is tension and there is attraction, so as a romance reader, this is where it hurt most, because Kyle Sanders is prime boyfriend material and I would have loved to see more of the romance.

Another problem for me was how the kids were written. Jacob is supposed to be 10 and Chloe is supposed to be 8, but their voices and reactions read as an 8 and a 5 year old at best, so it was pulling me out of the story all the time.

It's told in 3rd person dual POV but it's not a problem for me. It's obviously a closed door romance because if anything happens with them it happens after you close the book.

It was a fine book, but I saw so much potential in the blurb that I was disappointed.

Possible triggers: divorce; feelings of inadequacy; voluntary alienation  of children by a parent after a divorc

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you @NetGalley, @sourcebookscasa   and the author for the advanced copy.

Talk about a Super Mom! Amelia Marsh is an amazing mom of two who will do anything to make them happy!!! She’s ready to start her next chapter in a northern suburb of Houston until a disagreement arises between Amelia and the HOA representative, Amelia doesn't back down. Kyle Sanders would begin to be a good friend―and something more. I love how they started out as friends and their friendship slowly built. They could’ve had so many steamy moments, however they both learned so much about themselves before they could be together.

HOA twist on the enemies-to-lovers trope

Amelia has HOA problems, and Kyle is right in the thick of it. I loved that their relationship began as a friendship, and pretty much stayed there while they each worked through their own anti-relationship issues. The slow burn was just perfect for these two.

I love when Amelia goes all mama bear for her kids. Her kids were charming, especially when they weren't trying to be. I appreciated that the author showed them as not-so-perfect children, which went a long way towards making Amelia more relatable as a mother.

Their HEA was delightful, and I was glad to see an equitable solution to the main point of contention. I enjoyed the humor even if the book reminded me of why I would never live in a home with an HOA. I really love this author's writing style and look forward to reading more of her books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

With Neighbors Like This by Tracy Goodwin
Contemporary romance. Present active tense.
Amelia moves into a new home with her children after her divorce. A garden gnome causes an issue with the bylaws but Amelia has the support of her neighbors, including the Association President.
Family and housing community issues plus a slow burn romance makes this drama pleasingly sweet. Chloe and Jacob have a fantastic sibling friendship while Amelia works hard at being a good mother. I loved the tickle romps.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.
