I really enjoyed this! It was such a great second book to the series. You really were left guessing when it came to who the murderer was but I did have a bit of a suspicion halfway through the book. I'm really excited to see where the rest of the series takes us!

I didn't like the mystery part, but I do like the grilled cheese/food/restaurant scenes. The characters are fun and intriguing, if maybe a bit simple, but on the whole this was an easy cozy mystery that was a quick read. Thanks, Netgalley, for my arc.

The morning after an event in the park, Holly, Ferris Menard’s daughter finds him dead in the sub shop. Circumstantial evidence leads to Ari Mitchell being the prime suspect.

I liked the story, the characters and the support from the townspeople. The interactions of the characters show that they care about their town, the people in it and keeping it a safe place to live.

The characters are varied and unique. I was given an advanced readers’ copy and am not required to leave a positive review. I chose to do so.

A terrific addition to a delightful series. It kept me guessing. Very clever clues. I am eager to read the next one. Linda Reilly kept me engaged and turning the pages. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Linda Reilly wrote a well plotted mystery, the story is well paced, and every character is developped and not a mere appearance.

Take a chance and read this impromptu sleuth story, you will only regret it if you begin this book on an empty stomach because Carly's grilled cheese sandwiches are mouth watering.

When they start looking at her boyfriend she jumps right in and looks for the killer. Through all the twists and turns she takes I guessed wrong on the killer. You will never guess who it is. this is definitely a book you have trouble putting down!

Carly is gearing up for Halloween and the town contest for best eatery with a spooky theme. Grant,one of her part time employees, quits his other job at Ferris Menard’s sub sandwich shop. Ferris reacts badly and threatens Carly. The day after the town contest, Ferris is found dead in his shop.
Carly figures it isn’t her business to investigate until the cops make her boyfriend Ari the prime suspect.
The mystery kept me guessing and I was wrong in who the murderer was. There were several other underlying mysteries and questions that Carly slowly unraveled as the book progressed.
The encounter with the murderer was slightly less intense and scary than the encounter in the first book, at least for me. I’m not sure how Carly would compare them.
The author is building a lovely group of characters and supporting characters in Balsam Dell. The story had a feeling of community and goodness even while the point was to solve a murder mystery.
I enjoyed reviewing a copy provided by Netgalley and the publisher.

This is a delightfully solid cozy series. Reilly's still building up the cast of characters, but they're definitely starting to round out the town. The mystery on this one was really interesting. While I was able to guess some of the contours, the story was definitely a bit unusual in a good way! There were plenty of suspects with motives, keeping things interesting.

A grilled cheese shop and a Halloween themed book that takes place in Vermont, could this mystery get any more cozy!

No Parm No Foul by Linda Reilly is the second book in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries and this one serves up a double helping of wonderfully written characters and fantastic food scenes, with bonus recipes at the end.

We get to learn more about one of Carly’s employees, Grant, in this one and I love the direction his life ends up taking. I’m still waiting to learn more about her other employee, Suzanne… here’s hoping we do in the next book.

Ari and Carly’s relationship progresses… although Carly has a moment where she starts questioning everything… and I’m really glad that didn’t last too long. We also get to meet some more of the customers that come into the grilled cheese shop, and one of them helps Carly solve the mystery with her beautiful, poetic notes that she leaves.

I was completely taken aback with who the killer was. I’m sure there had been some clues before we got to the speedy end where everything came together, but I completely missed them. This always makes me enjoy the cozy a bit more when I have no idea whodunnit.

I devoured No Parm No Foul over a day, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I could have stayed the Halloween cooking competition for the whole book! That was a wonderful fall festival that I have never heard about. That is one thing that made this book special.
I like the futher development of Grant and his decisions about his future. I like to see Ari and Carly slowly moving forward and having some struggles and doubts. I like the various grilled cheese sandwiches that were described. I like getting to know some of the regulars at her restaurant.
Carly is slowly working towards being a better slueth, but her interview techniques need some work! I found myself wanting to give her advice to help her interview people better. Evelyn made some odd choices that made some of the mystery feel contrived instead of a regular pace for a mystery. That is a really nit-picky thing and the only complaint I had about the book.
The mystery is well done. There are lots of suspects holding on to secrets, so a lot of them look suspicious. The pace at which secrets are revealed is well done as well. I figured out who it was before Carly, but really had no clue why. So part of the reveal was still a surprise for me.
Good mystery, great characters, wonderful setting, and a fun fall festival!

No Parm No Foul is the second installment in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series. This book is a rather fast read with lots of suspects and clues. For some reason, I am just not that interested in the characters anymore.

Book 2 in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series was a solid read! I liked reading about her budding relationships, with both Ari and everyone else. The mystery had plenty of suspects and clues and was a zip to follow along with.

NO PARM, NO FOUL is the second book in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries by Linda Reilly. With the delectable setting of the Grilled Cheese Eatery during Halloween, the reader’s senses are in for a treat! Scrumptious food—check. Close-knit friends—check. A Scary-Licious food competition—check. A dead competitor that bodes ill for protagonist, Carly, and her friends—check. A missing vampire cape that might be a clue—check. Ms. Reilly weaves together a tale worthy of Halloween with characters and clues alike lending spirit to the holiday.

Despite the murder mystery genre, the author creates kind and caring core characters, particularly Carly. She’s one of those people you’d love to count as a friend with her trusting nature and her loyalty to those she cares about. Despite the short time that she’s been in Balsam Dell, Vermont, following the death of her husband, she’s managed to fit right in and her grilled cheese restaurant has developed quite the following amongst the young and the old alike. And, of course, who can resist her little Morkie, aptly named Havarti? The sweet dog has such a delightful personality that complements Carly’s character.

With clues surrounding the murder pointing to Carly’s love interest, Ari, being the culprit, Carly can’t help but get involved trying to figure out who wanted her restaurant’s competitor dead. I loved how the author uses one of Carly’s elderly regulars as a source for clues via the former teacher’s unique poetry. As someone who loves to learn, I appreciated the inclusion of the poetry and was even more impressed with the author’s skill at writing it to fit the needs of the mystery. As the pressure mounts to clear Ari’s name, there are many suspects who pop up. I was kept guessing as the clues unfolded and at the surprising reveal the pieces fell into place with a highly satisfying conclusion.

With a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches being served throughout the story, I’d suggest having one on hand every time you pick up the book. Ms. Reilly includes a couple of recipes at the back of the book and they sound fantastic.

Carly is competing in a taste off for Halloween. When the local sub shop owner turns up dead the day after, Carly and Ari become prime suspects. In this second book of the series, the writing and plot remain excellent. The twists and turns keep you reading past bedtime! Great read with recipes that make your mouth water for grilled cheese.

Foodies, especially cheese lovers, will enjoy this series. I love the protagonist Carly, and her co-workers Grant and Suzanne. Carly's relationship with Ari as well as other relationships in the book promise to be fascinating. This book is so good that I read it in a day. You will crave grilled cheese and tomato soup while you read it. For me, Halloween food competitions are perfect cozy mysteries.

I look forward to seeing the series continue and reading the next book. Throughout the book, I wasn't able to guess who the murderer was--and that kept me hooked, because the book kept me on edge. I am grateful for the advance reader copy of this book provided by Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley.

It's fall in Vermont, and Karly excited about participating in her first Halloween food festival. Days before the big event, though, the owner of one of Balsam Dell’s food shops storms into her eatery, accusing her of sabotage and more. When his body is found and a friend of Carly’s becomes the prime suspect in the man’s death, she starts asking questions, more than some of the other town residents are comfortable with.

This is the second book in the Grilled Cheese series, which I enjoyed as much as the first book. One of my problems with the first book was the viability of an ‘eatery’ serving only grilled cheese sandwiches and soup, so I was glad to read of a few other additions to Carly’s menu. I liked getting to know more about some of the recurring characters, but there were a few from the first book who only put in cameos in this one. The food festival sounds like a fun way to bring the community together to celebrate, as well as a way for local businesses to showcase their creations.

The victim wasn’t very well liked in town, so there were plenty of suspects to choose from, and the person at the top of my mental list kept changing as the story progressed. I had narrowed it down to one of two people, neither of whom was the actual killer, although I did get the motive almost right. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it comes out next year.

That's what caught my attention to the first book in the series, Up to No Gouda. This second book is just just as good as the first one. A truly fun read! I really like the characters. Carly puts the clues she finds together and does a great job sleuthing. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is the Book #2 in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series.
I read "Up to No Gouda" the first book in the series and loved it.

Story is based in the small town of Balsam Dell, Vermont.
In Book 1 we learn that Carly Hale and her husband Daniel Brownell were very happy but he died in a tragic accident. He was delivering firewood to a family in desperate need. Carly pleaded with him to wait until the weather was better. He assured her he would be careful but his truck skidded off an ice covered bridge. The memories that surround Carly made her return to her hometown where she opened “Carly’s Grilled Cheese Eatery”.
Story is set in the fall near Halloween which is my very favorite mystery story time!

Cozy Mysteries typically have a twist but usually not a big shock as the bad guys are usually obvious.
Nope not in this case! Love the twist and also love that Carly’s mom’s ‘acrostic poetry’ helped in solving the case.
Note: I am sure you know the meaning of ‘acrostic poetry’ but just in case. . . is when the first letter of each line forms a word or words.

This is series was truly an enjoyable read and I look forward to Book # 3 [book: Cheddar Late than Dead] which will be out in January.

I always enjoy reading the author’s acknowledgements’ as well as the ‘Author’s Note. In this case, Linda Reilly tells us when she was a child in the Berkshires she practically existed on grilled cheese sandwiches

Linda Reilly has my taste buds hungry again in this second book of her Grilled Cheese Mystery series! Carly Hale can't seem to get away from murder and mystery. Whenever she's out to solve a case, Carly tends to push questions that tend to rile the feathers of a few suspects. Proving her boyfriend, Ari's innocence gets Carly in some sticky situations. Linda Reilly has created a wonderful character in Carly, and her grilled cheese restaurant is a place I would love to visit. Carly has all kinds of different versions of the delicious sandwiches, and Linda has put recipes of some in the back of each book. Cozy mystery lovers will definitely fall in love with Carly, and will try to solve the mystery right along with her.
