This was a decent first book in a series. World building was good and it had a quick pace. Ending sets up the next one in the series nicely. I liked that the next book is about another character in the story rather than continuing Tomas's story. Only thing I didn't love is that half the book they referred to him as Tomas, the other half Tom.

My kids really enjoyed this book. Action and dragons for the win! The only problem was the formatting.

This was a fun book! A nice, easy read for newer readers. Kids will love the dragons and the adventure in this book. Great artwork!
If your kids love Dragon Masters, this is a wonderful book for them to read next.

Although rumors of dragons destroying villages abound, Tom doesn’t think dragons really exist until one day he sees the image of a dragon in his fathers forge. Later he believes he’s signing up for an apprenticeship to be a clerk for the king. Instead he is taken to a magical place to join a guild of dragonseers. He summons his dragon and tries to create a bond with her, but his heart still aches for his parents, which causes his dragon to disappear, and he has to figure out how to summon her back. I loved how this story showed that you don’t have to forget those you love to love someone else because can always make more room in your heart. If you love dragons, adventure, and a good ending, you’ll love this story of Tom and Ironskin. I can’t wait to read more in this series!

This story was adorable. It was such a quick read. I loved the artwork and I loved the immediate connection between the children with each other and with their dragons. They all bonded over the fact that they all had this special secret to keep and Tom's growth was just beautiful.

This was a fun first chapter book with dragons! I liked the concept of "seeing" dragons and being able to summon them. I think this will be a popular series and it is perfect for those graduating from the Dragon Masters but not yet ready for Wings of Fire.
