This was such a fun book. My daughter is a history fan and this information here was great. Well written and definitely interest catching for a middle grade reader. Thanks NEtGalley for the ARC.

This is an excellent resource for world history. I would love to review it on my homeschool site but the only ARC available was temporary and was deleted before I could finish the book or get screenshots to show readers what the inside looks like. That's a shame, as I think it would be beneficial for my readers.

This is a great middle school history book that students will actually like reading. Its comprehensive, factual, with perfectly laid out visuals. Hopefully, "How to Survive Middle School World History" will be a part of every middle school social studies class as a reference and classroom read.

Enjoyable and informative, with helpful infographics on every other page. There are discussion questions throughout with lines to write answers. While not necessarily geared for a public collection, this would be fitting for homeschool and small classroom use. It breezes through historic periods but is engaging and informative. Highly recommended for middle schoolers and even adults who might need a refresher on world history.

Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and author for providing this copy for my honest review. This is a wonderful resource for middle school aged students. This is a very useful source for students who need more support in world history as well as for those who are history buffs and can’t enough. This book really has it all from ancient times to modern times. It doesn’t go into full complete detail of the times but it really does provide as much information as possible to give an excellent overview of world history. I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing a copy as well.

Thank you to the publisher, author/illustrator, and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback. I would describe this book as a combination of an academic/educational nonfiction and an interactive workbook. This book covers a lot of information: Ancient Civilizations, Classical Civilizations, Post-Classical History, Early Modern History, Late Modern History I, Late Modern History II, The Postwar World, Challenges Today, and "How to Think Like a Historian." At around 500 pages, this book covers a lot information but is not bogged down with just words; there are a lot of images, tables, maps, etc. that makes for an interesting and easy to follow layout.

Here are some of the things I think that make this book interesting:

1 - Content: Lots of content covered, not too wordy. Word choices are clear and age appropriate. Definitions are given when appropriate. Great amounts of visual depictions of information.

2 -- Layout/Visuals: Consistent colors used throughout makes things look professional and coherent. Images, tables, etc. help divide up the sections.

3 - Interactive elements: There are some parts of the book that have sections for notes, answering prompts, etc.

Overall, I think this book is pretty neat for middle schoolers.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to Netgalley & Bright Matter Books (Random House Children’s)!

How to Survive Middle School: World History is an engaging guide covering everything from ancient civilizations to the current times. The colorful illustrations and compelling format create a unique and interesting way for 6th-8th graders to learn about world history. Each chapter includes a glossary of important terms along with a list of additional reading.

While this does cover a wide range, it is more of a jumping off point for discussions rather than a comprehensive text book. It would be impossible to cover all of world history in one book but this does an excellent job of presenting the topics in a way that will keep students interested. My 7th grader has books similar to this but this one is by far better formatted and easier to use. A student could use this as supplementary material without needing help from a teacher or parent.

How to Survive Middle School: World History would be an excellent addition to any homeschool library or classroom.

What a joy to find a book on world history that is so easy to read and is well illustrated. Ms. Fee has done a great job of making it fun to learn about history from the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia to modern issues of today. A good table of contents and index make it easy to find an era you are interested in studying. A great vocabulary section with each chapter. I remember Jeopardy James saying the best way to study a subject is to begin in an junior high library and this one would certainly fill the gap that many adults have in history. Kids will love the colorful illustration and reading about the past. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
