Thank you Netgalley & Atria Books for the e-copy of Island Time. Unfortunately it was a DNF for me. It did not hold my interest.

It took me a little while to get into the book but after about 30% I really enjoyed it. I thought it would involve more drama but I enjoyed all the time the characters had to reflect about their lives.

Synopsis: When a stressful family vacation faces a natural disaster things escalate quickly.

Thoughts: With lots of family drama and a stressful natural disaster this book was stressful but also shared some difficulties and stresses. I thought that this book was an interesting read and not what I was expecting. There were several different plots that were going on and sometimes hard to follow. I think that this was a fun vacation read.

I wanted to love this because I really enjoyed the author's past work but... I ended it thinking I should have DNF-ed the book and went on with my life. First off, there are a million characters to keep track of and they all have some personality quirk that is absolutely frustrating. There is a love story for every person involved, which just adds to all the information that as a reader you have to keep track of. And by the end I just... didn't care about them.

If I take a step back I can see that this book is much closer to Women's Fiction than Romance, in my opinion. Each coupling goes through some sort of growth or huge life decision or fight to get to their end point (which isn't necessarily a HEA completely). And I know that those types of books are not my jam. I much prefer my very clear HEAs in the Romance genre and I generally try to steer clear of books like this - SO my point is maybe take this review with a grain of salt if you are someone who loves the Women's Fiction genre. It could just be your next 5 star read and you'd miss out just because you're listening to me.

Basically, it was extraordinarily average for me. There is LGBTQ representation which is always appreciated. There is also very random bird watching content which didn't add anything to my personal reading experience, but hey I don't judge what people like.

I honestly wanted to love this book more. The premise, flow of the story, and setting were all great. However, I want to point out how there were many perspectives on things that were tackled and I felt overwhelmed reading all about them. I also felt a bit confused with the nicknames and it just did not click with me. It took me a lot of patience to finish this book since I wasn't as enthusiastic about reading the story as to when I started. In the end, I felt like this might just not be my cup of tea. Although I can see that other people might love it.

Late review due to forgotten password in the past months -

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was the first book I've read by Georgia Clark. I will definitely be picking up more works by her! I loved this story and it was the perfect vacation read!

Super cute Beach read. This is a sit down in the sun and finish it in one sitting type of book. I loved the cute story and would recommend this

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't what I expected (I was expecting more of a fun beachy romance) but it was well-written and the characters felt very well-developed.

I really wanted to like this family drama but the plot was so crazy and you were following so many different characters it was to hard to keep everyone straight and to care for these characters. This story follows a family who went on vacation together but a tsunami caused them to be stuck in a smaller house with this couples entire family including both sets of parents. This follows the family as they get to know one another and drama and secrets ensue.

I feel like it this novel was not following so many people I would have enjoyed this a lot more in total their are 9 POV’s. I also felt the plot was a little over the top pulling me out of the story a few times because it was like what else could go wrong. I also felt that the categorization of romantic comedy was a bit of a stretch it was more just a family’s story. I would like to thank the publisher and Net-galley for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Another fun and enjoyable book from Georgia. She is so good at creating these ensemble casts of characters for her books and I really enjoyed this one.

I wanted to like this one more than I did! There was a lot of family dynamics and kind of all over the place. Not really what I expected and was a bit slow for my taste. Still overall a good story. And bonus points for being LGbTq2+ friendly. As this always needs more representation. But I was just expecting more.

I absolutely loved the cover of this book, I however was bored with what was inside the book.

I wanted more....

2 families on vacation that don't really get along, don't really have anything in common other than their daughters are married to each other.

Then there is a volcanic eruption nearby that throws everything off.

They get extended 6 weeks

Tons of family drama

All while thinking if this is really what they want in life.

Thanks to NetGalley for this title to review Island Time by Georgia Clark. #NetGalley

i DNFed this novel after reading the first 50% because i felt like there was too much going on in the storyline to be able to enjoy the book as a whole. within the plot, there are multiple subplots that follow each of the kellys and the lees. the chapters jump around from each of these, making it difficult to keep up and connect with the characters. however, i will say that i quickly pointed out and came to appreciate how the island is described. the nature and living creatures surrounding the land was written beautifully and it felt alive!

I feel lucky to have closed our 2022 with many good reads and Island Time by Georgia Clark is right up there with top surprising reads of 2022 for me!

I saw the cover, read the blurb, and still anticipated something lighthearted, but man was this book far more complex. The premise is a bit far-fetched, but I didn't mind that. The family blending vacation goes awry when the family gets stuck on the island for six weeks after a natural disaster. This book tells the story of each of the family members and two locals as they find their way through their six weeks on an island.

It's clear from the start that each person is fighting their own battle that no one else is aware of. Six weeks starts off feeling like a curse, but is it a blessing in disguise to have time to sit with yourself and see if you like what you see in the mirror? They are all in facing transitions in their lives. What I particularly liked about Clark's way of presenting the various storylines was the genuine way she allowed each character to be self-absorbed. When going through a personal crisis, it can feel like your situation is all consuming and should be everyone's focus, but the reality is that everyone has their own things going on. The realness of this family trying to do what's best for themselves and their loved ones permeates the pages.

I'm sad I didn't read this book sooner, but so glad it was one of my last for 2022, because it has stuck with me!

I should mention it's quite a steamy read. I listened to part of the book via Libro FM and did quite a bit of skipping forward, because we all know the steamy bits just aren't my thing.

Absolutely loved the variety of characters and of course the Queer characters but I also really liked the bond the fathers were able to make. Very well written and insightful book that not only touched on real-life issues but also gave us a wonderful escape to a beautiful place.

I loved It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark, so I could not help but fall in love with this queer romance set against a lush island backdrop.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

Island Time by Georgia Clark takes place in Australia which is a fun setting. I also liked the pieces of history included throughout the story. Overall the multiple POV story had to much drama for me which make it hard to connect with the characters.
