I gave it a lot of my time but I suppose all books are not for everyone. I wish the author all the best. Thank You for sending me a copy.

While I tried to get into this book, it just wasn't for me. I didn't realize that it was number 5 in a series. I didn't get the humor and a lot of it was lost on me.

I love Lucy's story. Initially I was not sure what to think, but the further along I listened, the deeper and more real her character became to me.

Lucy is quirky and outspoken and I think that's what I like about her the most.

Kristen writes to us a story that is incredibly relatable. A story of a woman with freedom who, through her recovery, seems to show us not only how to appreciate our life, but to enjoy it and stop worrying about what other people think.

While I enjoyed the book, I had to stop reading the audiobook. I wasn’t a huge fan of the narrator and the way it was being read.

#amiallergictomen by #KristenBailey is book five of a series I hadn’t heard of! Nevertheless I enjoyed it. I must say the title grabbed my attention. It wasn’t as frivolous as I had expected. The main character Lucy wales up after being in a coma for ten years - just a little adjustment! Many thanks to #Netgalley and #bookoiture for gifting me an #ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I went blindly into this book figuring it would be a cute rom com based on the cover and title but I was completely wrong. I think that is partly why I did not like it as much as I did because I felt I was trickled. It also took me a while to warm up me to Lucy and the style of writing. It was still an entertaining story about family and rediscovering yourself after suffering from amnesia. The humor was very raunchy and it was hard not to laugh out loud with some of the things Lucy said. I also loved the bond the sisters had with each other and the narrator helped bring those relationships and characters to life.

I tried really hard to like this book but the problem is the main character. She’s utterly unlikeable in any way and I just did t care about her at all. why would you write a character like that? I’m not sure, but I’m not reading any more of it.

This was a fantastic story line. It was both interesting and funny. I loved the fact that it was a very unique story-line that I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact the way it was wrote had me connected to the story and engrossed for the star. I thought the main character was so funny and whitty. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator was perfect really brought out the joy of the story. This is just the perfect book to provide a change in genres. I have been reading plenty of non fiction books recently and this was a Very welcome change in pace. So this book is brilliant for those that need a lighthearted read. I have to say the book flowed so well that I read it pretty fast. Just wanted to say this book is part of a series that I didn't know when I started it but I had no problems following the story and it works well as a standalone book.

Many thanks to the author and publishers for allowing me to read this fantastic unique story-line.

My Rate: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5

My rate: This book was fascinating. Lucy had the “opportunity” to analyze her own life and choices as an outsider. I loved her journey of understanding who was, who she became and who she wanted to be. It was amazing to see her journey, in acceptance and find out how she became who she was in her 30s. I believe most of us, also get to a point in life and think “How did I get here?”, just like Lucy. To be fair, I’m 20 years old, not exactly questioning much of my life decisions yet, but I loved seeing Lucy going through that.

It was hilarious and interesting and it hooked me from “page” one.

My audiobook rate: ⭐⭐⭐ 3/5

The narration was a bit confusing. A lot of the characters had very similar voices, which confused me at times, but it was still very awesome to listen to this book.

Adjectives and general thoughts: This book is about a fascinating, hilarious, and interesting journey, into finding out “How did I get here?”

Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for for providing me with arc of this book in exchange for an honest review, All opinions are my own.
This book was so much fun! I really enjoyed the listening experience. The first 2 or 3 chapters didn't grab me right away but once the ball got rolling I was hooked and laughing out loud. I think my main criticism is actually the title .This book really does not deal with men and dating but rather really deals with Lucy's trying to find herself after losing her memories of the last 10 years and, if anything, explores her relationships with her sisters. I absolutely loved the family dynamics and interactions. These characters are so full of personality and I really enjoyed the banter between them.
I should note that before starting the book I didn't know that this was the 5th in a series. I didn't have any trouble understanding what was going on and this book basically worked as a stand alone (though there were clear references to things I assume happened in the earlier books in the series). Part of the reason why his might have been the case was because the MC literally did not remember anything that happened either :)

This was an easy fun read, I had no idea it was one in a series and felt it read as a stand-alone just fine, the story was simple enough and a light beach read, very predictable in places but nether the less in did enjoy

When Lucy wakes up from a coma after being hit by a bus with no memory of the past and a legion of ex-boyfriends, she wonders if her pathological singleness translates to an allergy to men. Slightly dramatic but a fun story. This is definitely a unique take on the romantic comedy.
Evidently, this is the fifth book in a series. I had no trouble reading it as a stand alone. This was the first time I’d read anything by this author and I fully plan to revisit the rest of the series. Lucy was very entertaining and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I absolutely loved the family dynamic. It made me feel as though I was a part of it and I was sorry when the book ended. My favorite thing, however, was the fact that this book contained very little actual romance. It was a refreshing take on the “romantic” comedy and I found it absolutely amazing. I will definitely seek out the rest of Ms. Bailey’s books.
Note: I read both the e-book and the audiobook. I enjoyed both versions but the audiobook had a narrator that made the story come alive for me. Good job!

This is the first book I have read by Kristen Bailey even though this is technically book 5 of the Callaghan Sisters series. It can be read as a standalone. However, there are obvious back stories to each of the sisters that are mentioned in this book. I will definitely be going back and reading the first book in the series- Has Anyone Seen My Sex Life?
.
Lucy Callaghan is an absolute riot. She is a tattooed and pierced, bisexual who has been in a horrific accident that has left this almost 30 year old with no memories of the last decade or so. She believes that she is 17. At first glance, Lucy seems self- centered and the epitome of the party girl. However, she is so much more than that. She is a fighter, full of unabashed confidence, and loves her friends and family deeply.
.
Going into this book, I thought it was a romance. It could technically be classified as a Romance, but this isn't your typical romance. Which is why I put it in Women's Fiction/Chick Lit. I was awed by Lucy's strength and determination. I wish I could be as adventurous and unapologetically myself with no hesitations of being who I'm supposed to be like Lucy is! I also really enjoyed the family dynamic between all the sisters and even the parents.
.
When I found out the mystery behind the note "Oscar, February 9," my heart exploded.
.
I laughed. I cried. I was incredibly touched and moved by Lucy Callaghan's story.

This book surprised me! From the cover, title and blurb, I was expecting a revoltingly cheesy rom-com. Instead, I found myself enjoying a funny and honest story about a girl who wouldn't be tamed, her heartwarming love for her sisters and the knickers department at M&S. There were definitely a few laugh-out-loud moments in there, and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a main character who is often inappropriately explicit.

Kristen Bailey does it again. The Callaghan sisters are just such a delight, so complicated and different from each other. I loved picking up in the life of Lucy. And miraculously enough, this was not a romcom! It's just a feel good love story between sisters and Lucy's place in the bonded group. I really enjoy how Bailey writes- being so personable and with some of the best jokes. Nothing ever feels contrite, and nothing feels overwritten. I've only read the last two books in this series, and now I have to go back to fully meet the other three Callaghan sisters. I can't wait to dive in! And I can't wait to see what else Bailey brings to the table.

I really enjoyed this book! I was such a good journey on Lucy discovering herself and I absolutely loved being on the journey with her.
I have not read any of the other books in the series and I did not realize it is part of a series until the end. I’m intrigued by all the sisters, but Lucy as a character is special and I l really enjoyed getting to know her. The sisters are all great and they make the book so interesting and funny.
The plot of the book is easy but complex. There are some real issues with Lucy and obviously the accident is freaky and terrible. But it does build a perfect and super addicting plot.
I loved this book and now I want to get to know the other sisters.

The narrator of the audiobook is good. I enjoyed their voice and they make the book alive. It is a very enjoyable audiobook.

I feel like I got duped! The cover, title and blurb made me think this was a romantic comedy. It wasn't. I didn't find Lucy funny and there was very little romance.

# Am I Allergic to Men?

The novel follows Lucy, in her late twenties, still living in a house share and trying to make it as an actress while working as a princess for children’s birthday parties. She is the youngest of four sisters, but the only one who looks like she doesn’t have her life together. Then following an accident, she wakes up in the hospital without her memories from the past ten years and she’s reverted to her 18-year-old self. The story is about her family coming together, trying to piece together 28 year old Lucy’s life from calendar appointments, steamy texts and racy images on her phone.

I thought this book would have been more banal, more cliché and more annoying, just from the title and cover but I was so pleasantly surprised. I expected it to revolve around a series of exes and current boyfriends helping the recovery process, but in all actuality, it was a story about self-discovery, supporting family through tough times, personal growth and striving for your goals, even when things are difficult.

I really liked Lucy and the whole Callahan family. They were all such distinct characters with vibrant personalities and clear goals, that I loved reading about them and learning more. They were all spitfires in their own way and the family dynamic reminded me slightly of both Pride and Prejudice and Little Women.

I feel like the title and cover wasn’t well suited to the content of the book. I could see this book being marketing as the great feminist novel of our generation with a rebrand. I would highly recommend this to anyone in their mid to late 20s who’s feeling a bit stuck in their career or passion projects. Alternatively, this is a great novel for someone who’s off to uni for the first time to see how many different ways there are to achieve what you want and even if it doesn’t work out the first time, maybe it will the second, third or fourth.

Listen if:
💙 You like to laugh out loud
💙 You love a strong independent female Mc
💙 You love a strong family unit

I loved this audiobook! This book is part of a series ‘The Callaghan Sisters’ this one being #5… I listened to this without any prior knowledge of the other books & it made no difference at all…so don’t be afraid to dive straight in to this book!

Things I loved:
💙The Humour. Lucy was a brilliant MC & I honestly couldn’t stop laughing at some of the things she said and did.
♥️Lucy’s family. I loved her pack of sisters & how they fit into the story
💙The storyline. Who doesn’t love a book where someone has lost their memories & is on the hunt to find them. You bet the journey to get them back is going to be interesting!
♥️The Narrator - Sarah Durham was an absolute gem & I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to her again.

Things I struggled with:
💙The story was a little slow to start but once you got going it was really hard to pause & I found myself happy to go for a walk or do the dishes just so I could listen!

Overall I’d definitely recommend this audiobook for anyone looking for a lighthearted, fun listen! I can’t wait to go back & pick up Kristen Bailey’s other books. I think I might start with book #1 ‘Has anyone seen my sex kids?’ 🤔
