THE CLOSE-UP BY SARAH SMITH

As this was a preview, I only received the first few chapters to review, and I must say: the plot makes this one a riveting and intriguing romance.
Naomi gets cheated on by her boyfriend of a year and a half, so she does what any self-respecting woman would: she leaves is dumbass and gets sloppy drunk.
Deciding there and then, at that run-down bar, that se will go on a self-imposed (committed) relationship hiatus, after encouragement from her cousin to rip the band aid off, and tick off a to-do from their Fuck-it list, she approaches a man in a bar. Her alcohol infused brain is sloppy and must be hella cute, because the handsome stranger isn't taken aback, moreover, seems to be on her wavelenght.
But as luck would have it: as their conversation steers towards more flirty topics, she realises something:
The handsome stranger? Not really a stranger at all. He was her wet-dream personified in her college years, when he did cam work.
Even worse?
After the realization, Naomi gets rid of the alcoholic content of her stomach - right on camera guy, Simon.

I will say: this opening scene left my jaw on the floor! The hilarity, the second-hand embarassment..oh, god!
I am definitely interested to learn how the romance will preceed after this chaos!
Totally buying this one!

I love love LOVE Sarah Smith. Not only is she super nice to interact with online, but I love her books so much. I was given a preview of this book and I can't wait to read the rest. If you haven't read her other books - GET ON IT!

I loved this!! It was so easy to read that I didn't even notice I was reading so fast. I love the way the author built the relationship between the main characters and the way it was developed.

I really did not enjoy this preview unfortunately. I think it started out promising but I was struggling to get through even the first few short chapters (the preview). I found the writing to be not really enjoyable for me, and the story repetitive - how many times did the MC say she needs to stop thinking about Simon because its unprofessional? Then it just kept going in circles. The preview did not hook me, and I didn't end up liking the story or any of the characters, so I would not be interested in reading further.

Thanks to NetGalley for a chance to preview this book!

This is hot. I loved it! I cannot wait to read the rest of the book. The first 5 chapters were wonderful.

This story is a little too farfetched to relate to, but that doesn't mean I haven't gotten a bit caught up in the whirlwind. Simon is just perfect. And the banter is plenty witty. I look forward to finishing the book!

I really enjoyed the first 5 chapters of this book. I really love Naomi and Simon together. There's just something about their chemistry together. I love how Simon is sweet but confident at the same time. Naomi has a lot of issues to work through but I hope they get their happily-ever-after. I do like her sass and professionalism. :) I also appreciate the multi-culturalism in the book- like it happens in REAL life. It's not in your face and it just reflects our world.

Thanks to the publisher for the preview. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book!

This book is giving Hitch vibes. Except he gives relationship advise to men and couples. I'm looking forward to getting the full book to see how the story ends. Could you imagine your crush popping back up looking just as sexy if not more and he's actually into you. However due to reasons you can't date. Oh the push and pull between these 2 makes you side with the cousin. And its like just get together already. ❤️

I have to start by saying that I haven't read anything by the author before but I wanted to request this preview of her newest title beacuse the cover and the synopsis peaked my interest. I have to say that I was not dissapinted with the content of the first five chapters of this book and I obviously want more. I'm really intrigued of what's going to happen next in the story and I really enjoyed Naomi and Simon and, of course, their chemistry!

Sarah Smith has become a can’t miss author for me, and The Close-Up does not disappoint. My jaw dropped (that’s a good thing!) from page one and while I couldn’t put it down, I also didn’t want it to end. This one will join my bookcase next to Smith’s other hits.

This was a fantastic preview and I can't wait to read the full book! Also, did I totally start to write my own f**k it list? Yes, yes I did, because Sarah Smith is brilliant and I wish I had come with that. Sarah Smith is one of my go-to authors and the characters she's created in Naomi and Simon seem so fun. I'm excited to get my hands on the full book when it releases.

I’m very intrigued with just these first few chapters! Naomi and Simon have great chemistry from the get-go and I like the refreshing sex-positive aspect of it so far. Excited to read the rest when it comes out.

Thank you to NetGalley and Carina for the chance to read a copy of this book!

This sample didn't work for me. We open with our heroine getting drunk, and alcohol abuse is a big pet peeve of mine. I wish they'd had an amazing one night stand and then were forced to work together knowing how good their chemistry was! This book also has "The Roommate" problem where...are sex workers actually famous in real life? Everyone seems to know and talk about Simon's past. Finally, while I admire Simon's portrayal as the perfect man, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of a couples therapist that only works with one side of the couple. This idea that women are amazing and men are doing the bare minimum and should shower them with affection bothers me--my partner and I both have flaws and if we needed to work on our relationship it would need to come from both of us. Unfortunately, there are too many issues I have with the way the book is set up to be interested in reading more.
