I was able to read the first 5 chapters as a preview in Netgalley. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley I am now eagerly counting down the days until April 5th and have pre-ordered my copy of The Close-Up. Five chapters just wasn’t enough! I can’t wait to read more of Naomi and Simon’s banter

This was only a preview, which definitely has me ready to go and get this book to read more! It was captivating and grabbed my attention from the first chapter! I am so excited to see how the rest if this book plays out!

As always Sarah smith nailed it! One of my all time favorite authors, she always produces a masterpiece and I cannot wait to read the entire book instead of just the preview

Okayyy I know that this is just a preview, but my god am I already hooked!!! First of all, the concept is AMAZING! I mean... a male therapist who literally calls out the toxic masculinity of other men... I'm in LOVE. I am also already in love with Naomi as well, and cannot wait for April to get here so I can devour the rest of their story!!

Okay, wHAT?? This concept is sooo cute. Hot therapist who calls out toxic masculinity and gender inequities within relationships? Heck yes. I am SO HERE for that. The writing also flows nicely and is just very, very readable. The beginning feels a little rushed and I didn’t get the best sense of setting, but I’m assuming that this wouldn’t be such an issue if you’re reading the whole book and not just a sample (plus, I’m guessing long descriptions of pretty scenery is NOT why most of us would be picking up a romance novel like this one, lol)! This definitely seems like a good lighter read or palate cleaner, and there’s definitely lots of fun chemistry between the leads even from these few chapters alone. Ultimately, I’ll definitely be checking out the finished copy when it’s released!

Only the first five chapters were provided, but it was so sweet and endearing. The writing draws readers in to what seems to be the beginning of a beautiful romance novel. Looking forward to continuing the story.

I was hooked from the first couple of pages.

Wow!

Loved everything about the preview.

The tension, flirting and awkwardness.

The laugh out loud moments.

The hilarious cousin.

How dare you leave us hanging like that on chapter 5.

I need the rest of the book now!

The Close-Up Preview is a sizzling, lighthearted, funny read! We are immediately drawn to the relatable protagonist Naomi as she struggles to prioritize her career aspirations over falling for swoon-worthy Simon. Can’t wait to read the full release in April!

Such an amazing preview!!! I was hooked from the first page and I don't think I could have possibly laughed any more during just the first chapter!

So much to love about this one! Super witty, non-stop laughs, awesome female friend, INCREDIBLE chemistry between the two main characters! I'm already basically obsessed with Simon and so ready for him to be my next book boyfriend.

I cannot wait for the full version of this, I'm so excited!

Just one word... WOW! Sarah Smith sure new what she was doing by giving us this sneak peak, the first five chapter are captivating, you get a good presentation of the characters Naomie and Simon, I'm already in love with them and their chemistry!! I know this is about to become one of my favorite books! In Rom-coms, it's often hard to balance the romance and comedy but from what I've read, this is going to be simply perfect.

Needless to say I'll be waiting for the whole book to be published!!! Thank you Carina Press & Carina Adores (Harlequin) , Sarah Smith, and NetGalley for this Preview !

This book will be published on April 5, 2022.

What an exciting first 5 chapters!
What I LOVED about the preview is that I was hooked and interested from the very first line. The execution of the budding romance and all the flirting were realistic and I feel like some people may relate. A romcom indeed! The preview showed me the direction of where the story is going and I felt like I grasped enough information for me to want to purchase it and read it ASAP once it's out. Also, I NEED TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES. I loved the ending of chapter 5!! People should try to read this once they see the preview available!! I'm definitely picking this up once it's up on NetGalley/published. For now, I'll give this 5 stars. Really looking forward to the whole chunk!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Carina Press & Carina Adores (Harlequin) for the ARC Preview (5 chapters)!

While I've been a fan of all the Sarah Smith books I've read, they all have something different to offer. I enjoyed the off the bat spark we see between Naomi and Simon in The Close-Up and how they fumble to find a level place between being colleagues, becoming friends and wanting more. These first five chapters seemed quick to establish Naomi and Simon, with them being in close proximity, leaving me to wonder if they'll be able to keep their strictly business relationship much longer. These first five chapters definitely left me wanting more, calendar has been parked for pub day!

from the preview i'm excited to read further. the opening was certainly interesting, and the entire premise of the story is unique and one of kind. this has me really excited for the next chapters. the idea of a camguy turned therapist is quite outlandish and bizzare, but the way it was tackled (even from just the first 5 chapters) showed the author's skill. i love the storyline so far and im really excited to see where it goes. the characters don't seem one dimensional, which is great and really sets this read aside from other novels.

I’m really enjoying the tension between the two main characters in this book, and I’m excited to see where the rest of it goes. I wish there was a little more build up before they are forced together on the work trip, but maybe the rest of the book will resolve that lack of balance. Definitely excited to keep reading!

Seems like it will be a quick cute read. The characters were interesting and the premise was unique. The plot progressed pretty fast given the fact it was only 5 chapters so I’m not sure how long the overall book will be or if it would feel rushed once you had the whole story but I’d probably pick it up when it came out to see what happens next.

In a wild night out at a bar with her best friend Harper, Naomi meets Simon a man she had a crush on in college when he used to be a cam guy. In a twist of events, the next day at work Naomi’s boss asks her to interview Simon for a new video feature. The two quickly hit it off and have great chemistry. I really enjoyed this preview and can’t wait to read the rest of the book!

From the very first line, you just KNOW that this is rom-com is going to be hilarious. Tick tick tick. The chemistry is fantastic and I was hooked from the get-go!

I really liked how unique the plot and characters seem, particularly Simon as a male lead. Simon is a former cam guy and now works as a relationship therapist; he's very open and in touch with his emotions, openly discussing mental health and how to communicate in relationships. This is super refreshing and I'm really intrigued to learn more about him as we're seeing everything through Naomi's POV.

One minor downside I found was that it seemed to jump timeline quite a bit, for example, on the retreat days - and weeks prior to this - were skipped over. I was also keen for a one-bed trope scene *shock* but didn't get that as expected although it is super early on in their interactions so this makes sense. Maybe we'll see tropes we know and love later in the book. I actually really liked how organic their interactions were and that they both have their flaws, which they openly see in close confines together. It was so nice to see them getting to know each other on the retreat and I sense this story developing as friends-to-lovers.

It's safe to say I cannot wait to read on. How can you tease us like this with just five chapters?! Dying to find out what happens next with Simon and Naomi so will be counting down till this release...

The story of Simon and Naomi. She knows him from college, where she had a crush on him, and now they are working together to he is off limits. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book to see what happens next.

What a preview! I mean the first page alone got me entirely hooked and the rest did not disappoint. The premise of this book is so interesting and I cannot wait for its pub date so I can read the whole thing!!! The chemistry between Naomi and Simon was so palpable and I just want so much more!! I am already so in love with Simon.

Thank you NetGalley and Carina Press & Carina Adores (Harlequin) for this preview.
