**Thank you to NetGalley for gifting me an eARC of this book in return for my honest review**

This story begins with our main character, Elizabeth / Ellie / Liz, being rudely woken up by her cousin Fred, telling her that they needed to go to her sisters.
When they arrive things are as bad as they could possibly be. Meredith is dead.
Liz's life spirals out of control at the death of her sister, and the story unfolds that not everything is as it seems.

Her sister had led a secret life, one that she knew nothing about.
As she digs deeper into the cause of her sister's death, her whole family as she knows it comes undone. Everywhere she turns, there are more lies and more secrets.
Who should she trust? Who can she trust? And what can she believe?
Liz's resolve to help find her sister's killer, the cause of it, and all the secrets that had been kept from her is astounding.
The love she has for Meredith is endless.

The twists and turns in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. When you think you know the answer, another one pops up and makes you rethink it all over again.
If you like murder-mystery-whodunnits then this book is definitely for you!

I was so happy to get an ARC of this book since it’s just the type of book I like to read. I loved this book. It had so many secrets involving so many people. It draws you in like the characters are real. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. There were some parts that went pretty overboard but it was still so good and I would highly recommend it. I would also read anything else written by this author.

What a riveting, eloquently written novel! A perfect thriller that I could not put down. Richards brilliantly weaves a tangled web of secrets. With his amazing writing and great cast of characters it was a hard one to out away.
All in All I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was intriguing and super fast paced straight from the beginning. He knows how to weave a great story.

Liz and Meredith McCallister have always been there for each other, raised by stepparents after the deaths of their own parents, they were always able to count on each other. So when Meredith is murdered in her home, it becomes a mission for Liz to find out what happened to her, and why. Liz discovers that her sister was hiding some pretty big secrets, among them, the fact that she gave up a baby for adoption. Liz tracks down her niece, she discovers that the tough and bitter teen and her associates may very well be the reason Meredith was killed. A book that makes you wonder just how much you know about your own family

Brilliant.
Liz and Meredith McCallister are the only constants in each other’s lives—until Meredith is murdered in her lake home. Devastated by the loss, Liz becomes desperate to know why Meredith was killed. But the more she digs into her sister’s past, the uglier the story gets. As a teenager, Meredith gave up a child for adoption. When Liz meets her niece for the first time, she finds an angry, troubled teenager, whose reappearance in her mother's life may have been the catalyst that got Meredith killed.
Everything was in the story. I loved it. This is a complex thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for giving me an advanced copy.

This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. This is a story of mystery and intrigue, a page turner. The protagonist works to solve the murder of her beloved sister while contending with the man of her dreams. Secrets abound. Adoption...a baby...loved ones...enemies...old friends...new ones...money...trusts...missing persons...wealth...debts...insurance fraud...these themes run throughout this book...I enjoyed reading this story so much that I look forward to others by this author. Enjoy.
