DNF @ - 22% . I found the main character in this book unbearable. I have found that cozies mistake judgmentalness for sass. Also, all the characters were introduced at the same time making it confusing as to who was who. The story also didn't flow well.

Every time I see that Britney King has a new book coming out I get very excited because I know I am in for a really great read.

Passerby is a wonderful suspense novel.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. There is this feeling that the story could turn in any direction and I was never prepared for which way.
Her character development is utterly fabulous.
The storyline is dark and addictive, so consuming.
I am very happy to say that Britney did an amazing job with this one!
I was shocked with how so much of the story played out.
I had to see how it ended... And man I was blown away.
Also the narrator was great! An easy quick listen. Loved it.
Once you start, you won't want to stop as you'll want to know the outcome and it will keep you guessing until the last page.

I can't wait for more, because I'm completely obsessed with King!
Thank You for the opportunity to read this title!

Thank you to NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for the opportunity to review this audiobook!

Ruth Channing runs charming bed and breakfast, Magnolia House, in tiny, quiet town Jester Falls. Ruth's life gets turned upside down when her brother, Davis, returns from a road trip with Ashley Parker in tow. Things in Ashley's past don't add up to Ruth, and neither does her insistence on staying in Jester Falls. Ruth starts to dig, and what she unearths is pretty unbelievable. Jester falls will never be the same...

I sooo wanted to love this, but I just didn't. Overall, I thought the story was definitely intriguing and the overall plot points were clever and unique. However, I often felt the book was jumping around and on a few occasions I found myself reversing the audiobook, thinking I had missed something. While there was a fair amount of character development about the main character, Ruth, I would have appreciated a bit more about the other characters, particularly her brothers. My main complaint about this book is that the Passerby character, the book's namesake, played only a small role and was only featured maybe 5 times. For the book's plot to be centered around this character, I would have appreciated much more suspense built up around this person's identity and true motives.

All in all, I was riveted by this book throughout and felt the narrator did a great job. I think Britney King ALMOST did something great and, with a little tightening up of the plot, I think this could easily become a 4-5 star read. I look forward to seeing what else Britney King writes in the future!

This is not a job for an immature...

The Channing family owns an enchanting Magnolia House in Jester Falls. Like any other family, the difference and rivalry between the siblings are common, but nevertheless, they all are guided by love for each other... a truth or a myth? That's for you to find out.

A massive rip in the family dynamic take the place when one of her brothers brings a mysterious woman home. While everyone in town is captivated by a "fresh blood" in their small part of the woods, Ruth sees nothing but trouble coming from a newcomer.

I can't find words to describe the novel... but one very good piece of advice - do not read this before bed - guaranteed nightmares. Wow, I do not even know where to start. First, Ruth is a badass girl who keeps her family and business in check. Loved her character - strong and fair with no room for any nonsense. Her brothers - one big bag of surprises. The novel is full of new revelations in each chapter. It is easy to predict that a newcomer stirs up a lot of drama between the siblings, causing a very unfortunate set of events. I loved the idea of the book, and the last few plot twists were entertaining, however, I feel the novel lucked the suspense. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed the read and will continue to look forward to the author's new books. Thank you NetGalley and Hot Banana Press Publisher for a free and advanced copy of the novel.

I have such a tough time giving books less than 3 stars, I believe that authors work so hard. But this one wasn’t it for me. I had to DNF. I listened to a good portion of it, but could not figure out what was going on…

The narrator was good, but it wasn’t worth it for me to continue.

It’s more ⭐️⭐️.9 could be a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me

I was able to get an advanced copy of the audiobook thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook for my review.

Novel-
This was a very interesting book. I’m really finding myself getting into thrillers and I found this book to be exciting and yet quite confusing. Absolutely and 30% of the book I did not know what was going on. I wasn’t able to piece two into together until finally I really listened to what was going on. A lot of characters names were thrown around and did not make sense to me nor did I feel like storylines were needed. But once things started to piece together it did make sense.

I found the story to be a bit intriguing and it became fun and exciting to try to figure out what was really going. I felt that no one was really doing stupid things which was very good, I hate when characters make really stupid mistakes. I had such a fun time reading about Ashley, Cole and Ruth. I enjoyed everyone in this book.

I did feel like the timeline jumping from past and present was a bit All over the place. I would say that the author needed to let us know that it could have been two days prior or two months ago in order for you to really understand that they are talking about the past and not the present.

I really wanted to enjoy this book but I did find that by the end of the story I caught myself very confused, I think it was an expectation that since Ruth seem to have figured out everything and then plan for certain things to work out and it looks like it worked but we never got an explanation of how she figured out things who did what it was left almost open ended which made this book not a three star for me. I thought the epilogue would’ve explained everything but it really did it.

audiobook-
I thought the narrator was very good. I liked when she voiced Ashlee and Ruth‘s character, but I did have issues when she voiced the male characters. It really was not my favorite. At some point I could not tail between whether it was a male or female talking. And I felt like the male voices were very cheesy. Other than that I thought the narration was really good. I enjoyed hearing her sarcastic voice and when she would voice frustration, Irritation, fear, concern all of those emotions I felt the narrator did fantastic

Conclusion-
Overall I thought this book was a nice introduction to Britney King for me , I enjoyed the book and I look forward to reading more from this author. This book is a fast read, The audiobook was also a quick listen and I think a lot of people will enjoy this book, unfortunately for me I was a bit more confused they I would care to be.

Thank you to OrangeSky, Britney King and NetGalley for opportunity to listen to the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

I thought the story was going to pick up a little more, but it was a quick listen. It felt a little all over the place and the story wrapped up, but I was left a little disappointed.

So many twists and turns and this one will keep you guessing right up to the end. I was not sure most of the way through this one if I was enjoying this story but I wanted to know who and what and why so I kept going until I was sucked into the story and couldn't stop. That is all I'm going to tell you about this one other than to keep an open mind when starting this one and don't give up when it doesn't make sense because it won't and it is not supposed to.

This was a unique story told in a unique way. Our narrators are Ruth and (occasionally)the mysterious passerby. *cue spooky music*

I liked the creepy mystery aspect to this story but mostly, I liked Ruth. It was funny seeing her deal with her goofy brothers and the goofy, clingy girl one brought home to annoy everyone and win over the locals with her ditziness and.. charm?? A real barnacle, that gal.

One word I’d use to describe this book is random. One minute we’re discussing a Miss Watermelon pageant, the next we’re being run off the road. This is just a normal day for Ruth in the resort town of Jester Falls!

I think it’s a cozy night in book. Nice little mystery and a quick read/listen. I switched between ebook and audio. The narration was great! She brought Ruth to life.

I’m partial to mysteries in the setting of an Inn or a “snowed in and something weird is happening” story so this is right up my alley.

Thanks to NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for the chance to read it. I have already been looking for more from this author.

Thanks NetGalley, OrangeSky Audio and Britney King. This book was just okay. It has some interesting parts but was not strong enough to hold my interest for the entire book. The narration was not bad it, the reading was done well but the story was not very interesting as thrillers need to be. The book was not very long so it has to be full of interesting moment to keep the story strong. If you like Britney King's writing style, you will like her book.

This one was tough for me to finish. I had a hard time keeping up with it, because it was so choppy.

Passerby by Britney King.
Narrated by Almond Eastland.
Jester Falls has always been an idyllic town. Perfect for a getaway. And what better place to stay than Magnolia House, the tourist trap's most popular bed-and-breakfast, run by the eccentric Channing family. Ruth Channing loves her family - at least what's left of it. She'd do anything to protect them. But it isn't until her brother picks up a mysterious woman on the side of Route 78 that Ruth realizes how many definitions the word anything can have. Everything about Ashley Parker rings false: her past, her profession, even her name. Most worryingly of all, her reluctance to leave. When guests start disappearing, it's clear there's more at stake than just the family business...a lot more.
I did enjoy listening to this audiobook.
I liked the narrator. Great story and characters. 4*.

DNF at 40%. I wanted to lose myself in a psychological thriller that would make it hard to stop listening. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me here. The way the plot is moving around is making it hard for me to feel connected to the story or the characters. Ultimately, I’m just not feeling interested to keep going long enough to see how it all comes together. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the free audiobook to review.

This was the first Britney King book I’ve read, and it won’t be the last, it’s a huge surprise for someone who reads a lot of psychological thrillers to read something completely other in the genre. The characters were well rounded, the storyline gripping edge of your seat stuff and I was actually still guessing to the end. The narration was great too. On the lookout for more by the author.

I really could not get into this... it felt too choppy for me, maybe it would be better reading it and not listening to it but I just could not connect. I liked some of the twists! However, the SA at the beginning- I really did not like how that was addressed and did not understand why it was even included. It added nothing to the story other than a reason for one of the characters to go after another side character and literally ANYTHING ELSE could have been used in place of this scene. The narrator did a good job though!

Thank you to NetGalley, Britney King, and Orange Sky Audio for an advance listening copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was my first Novel by the author and I cannot wait to read more of her work. I loved the setting of Magnolia place & Jester Falls in this book and the family dynamics that were a huge part of the plot. I wasn't expecting the big twist and in my book that always makes for a great read. Pick this up if you enjoy quick and engaging psychological thrillers.

Wow, what a great story, so well written and told to you. Loved the way that the reader kept you on your toes. Twist and turns that you wouldn’t expect. I was interested to see how it went right to the end. Family drama, murder love it has it all. Thank you so much for letting me listen to this book. I hope many people enjoy it as much as I did.

This was a quick, fast paced thriller that I finished over 2 days. While I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the story, I had a hard time following all the characters. Because of that, it was difficult to feel any strong connection to the cast other than Ruth. Overall a fun psychological thriller.

Synopsis:
When Ruth's brother brings home a way younger woman, she has her suspicions right away. Something just doesn't feel right about Ashley - which doesn't even seem to be her name. And while Ruth's still about to find out who her sister-in-law-to-be really is, more and more people turn up dead - killed by someone who calls themselves Passerby.

My thoughts:
I LOVED the language of this! While the style of writing seemed a bit confusing to me (maybe because I listened to the audio), the tone of Ruth's inner monologue sounded just like the voice inside my head, and I saw myself in her in the first few chapters. While I really liked the story and was so surprised by who Passerby really was, there were still some open questions, and the whole thing felt a bit unorganized to me. Also, I kept mixing up the side characters since they didn't have any depth.

Parts of this book reminded me of:
- The Fiancée by Kate White

This was my first book by Britney King, and I will definitely try more of hers!

First Impressions

Being fair I didn’t really understood what was happening in the beginning it was weird but the more they keep talking and doing the plot it got easier.

It did got me very confused there but it wasn’t a bad thing really, I did went and couldn’t really put it down so it was something.

Characters

Ruth was curious I mean who does that after finding what has been happening in her house and all the weird things, but thinking rationally maybe everyone who knows.

The family was so weird really I mean after a while you really begin to challenge your sanity with them, like omg and the villain you will not see it coming.

Final Thoughts

By the end I was totally invested and the feeling of deja vu never leave my side but it was fun to hear it and trying to connect the dots, totally a page turner.
