This was such a fun romance read. I am a SUCKER for the enemies to lovers trope and this didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed how the connection between our characters developed. I also loved that there wasn't the usual third act drama that you can sometimes see in romance (there is some tension to work out, but it was different than what I read in a lot of other romances).

This saddens me as I have LOVED the two previous books by Farrah Rochon but The Hook Up Plan didn’t work for me and I stopped reading after 35%. London was intolerable with her inability to listen to Drew who was there to help her save her hospital not sell it. Drew felt entirely one dimensional and a prop to London vs an equal player in the game. And as a nurse, the medical inaccuracies were glaring and distracting. A resident in a specialty service like surgery would absolutely not be having nurses come to her about staffing which has less than nothing to do with her. Surgical residents barely have time to sleep let alone be involved with multiple disciplines and specialties that she’s not a resident in.

Another great standalone in the Boyfriend Project series! This group of friends continues to be amazing and I am so excited we finally got London’s book, which did not disappoint!

💜 childhood enemies/rivals to lovers with some serious chemistry 🔥
💜 workplace romance
💜 a strong AF heroine (who is a surgeon!!) and a hero who may be book boyfriend material
💜 strong female friendships

There’s so much to enjoy about this book. Alongside this friend group, which is still 💯, I loved the journey London and Drew’s story took that went from just a hook-up to more💘This book also explored London’s family and her motivations behind being the hard working and driven women that she is (TW - her dad is TERRIBLE). London and Drew had some seriously awesome banter and I just loved that Drew was a secret cinnamon roll - he would do ANYTHING for London.

The Hookup Plan is my first Farrah Rochon book, but won’t be the last!! This romcom had everything I love- a compelling enemies to lovers plot, witty banter, a medical setting, and representation! We need more people of color in rom-coms and I can’t wait to see what Farrah Rochon writes next.

Thank you toForever books and Netgalley for the arc of The Hookup Plan in exchange for the honest review.

So, I have this horrible habit of buying books I really want to read and not reading them, creating a next-level TBR list. This neverending list includes the first two stories in the Boyfriend Project series by Farrah Rochon (appalling, I know). But when a friend noticed book #3, The Hookup Plan, was an enemies-to-lovers, millionaire, workplace, get it out of our system turned enemies-with benefits rom-com, I was clearly the first person she needed to tell. Let's just say I couldn't have requested this advanced copy any faster.

And I LOVED it.

This story is everything I want in a romance. London and Drew are relatable characters in their 30s who have been enemies since their high school academic rivalry. They are both experts in their respective fields (yay for a woman in STEM), overachievers, and committed to making the world a better place. I enjoyed the snark, the banter, and the humor from all the characters. There was chemistry, swoony moments, and some steam.

I am not sure if this is the case with all of this author's books, but I was a HUGE fan of how she tackled the character's personal and professional issues including mental health, sexism, and burnout in the workplace- and the effects on your overall well being. There are also family/parental issues for both characters that are unpacked. While the relationship part of the story is fairly low angst, London and Drew deal with some very real things. London also has an amazing support system in her two best friends, who I am sure I will get to know soon enough when I read the first two stories in this series.

The Hookup Plan has placed Farrah Rochon on my list of new favorite authors from this year.

Thanks, NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this advanced copy!

Is it wrong to pick a book based on its cover? Specifically, the super cool shoes on the cover? Well London’s amazing shoes didn’t steer me wrong—The Hookup Plan is a delightful enemies to lovers romance that I’m thrilled I picked up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

London and Drew meet up again at their 15th high school reunion. They were always ultra competitive, at least London was. Now London is a pediatric surgeon and Drew’s made millions. The two hook up at the end of the nostalgic evening. But then London finds out Drew is in town to head up an audit of her beloved hospital. She’s furious he didn’t let her know. But, now that he’s going to be back in Austin for a short time, Drew becomes her perfect hookup buddy. No romance, no feelings, just a way to blow off some steam in their stressful lives before they go their separate ways. What could go wrong? 😂

If you are a fan of enemies to lovers romance, London and Drew are perfect. They are both smart, interesting, and strong characters as individuals. But it’s their continual banter and bickering that show off their chemistry together and ensure that London in particular will fail at her attempts not to
catch feelings.

Another highlight of The Hookup Plan is London’s friendship with Samiah and Taylor (the main characters of book 1 and 2). They are the friends that share professional struggles and triumphs, support health scares, and of course, offer romantic advice. I also liked the focus on the importance of self care, especially since it’s something women tend to be good about recommending for others, but have a tough time creating space for in their own lives.

The Hookup Plan is the third book in this series, but as someone who hasn’t read the other books, I had no problem keeping up. This book was my first by Farrah Rochon, and it won’t be my last.

If you like romance with strong women and the confident men who love them, The Hookup Plan belongs at the top of your TBR. London and Drew are fantastic people who definitely deserve their HEA.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Hookup Plan is the perfect conclusion to Farrah Rochon’s Boyfriend Project series. This book features pediatric surgeon, London Kelley, and her old high school nemesis, Drew Sullivan.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers vibes, even if the “enemies” element was pretty much one-sided. I’m a sucker for a tender-hearted male protagonist, and Drew completely delivers this energy throughout the story. I appreciated the dual POV, so I could understand how both characters were feeling and perceiving their interactions.

There’s chemistry, important discussions about the status of healthcare in the United States, fantastic and fitting representation of healthcare workers, and great character arcs.

Once again Rochon shows us why she has such a command of this genre. Don’t sleep on this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the advanced copy!

I’ve loved this series by Farrah Rochon, and The Hookup Plan was a great ending to it. The book follows London, a pediatric surgeon, and her former high school rival, Drew. They run into each other at their fifteen-year reunion and have a one-night stand. Then one night turns into another hookup the next day. But the day after that, London shows up to work and finds out Drew is a partner in the company hired to do an audit of the financially struggling hospital.

Initially, she’s pissed off he didn’t share this with her, but soon she sees he’s there to help save the hospital from shutting down entirely. They have undeniable chemistry, and agree to keep hooking up while Drew is in town. I love it when characters think they can just keep hooking up and not get their feelings involved. Drew falls for her pretty fast, and while it takes London some time to get there, she realizes she has feelings for him, too.

Watching these two grow closer was a delight. This book manages to pack in a lot in addition to the romance—there’s the plot with the hospital, London’s relationship with her terrible dad and her desire to grow closer to her much younger siblings, London trying to figure out the next steps in her career as she’s nearing the end of her final year of residency, and Daniel’s grief and guilt over the loss of his mother to cancer the previous year. (He needs to clean out her house while he’s back in town.)

Slight spoiler in this paragraph: Usually I like a third-act break-up, but it makes sense that this book doesn’t have one. The characters have enough to deal with, and as you get closer to the end, you see them—London especially—go through the work mentally to choose to be with each other without going through a break-up.

This book had a lot going on, but it never felt like too much because Farrah Rochon is such a deft writer. I think she’s one of the best romance writers working today. Her characters and plots feel real, and she weaves all of it together so skillfully. She writes lovely romances that will tug on your heartstrings and have you rooting for the couple the whole way. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Hookup Plan! This was exactly the kind of book I needed. I love a good enemies to lovers trope! The banter between London and Drew was hilarious and realistic. The book kept me wanting to turn the page and not put the book down until I was done. Not only was the romance done well but all the relationships London and Drew have with their families, friends, and coworkers. I was invested in them all. I’ve never been to Austin but this book makes me want to visit. I have really enjoyed this trilogy and I cannot wait for her next book to come out! Thank you again for the ARC of one of my most anticipated 2022 releases!

The Hookup Plan is the third in Farrah Rochon’s Boyfriend Project trio, but could be enjoyed as a stand alone. London is an ambitious type A ambitious doctor who needs to de-stress with a hookup. Enter her HS nemesis, Drew. A fairly well done enemies to hookups to true love ensues. The author has a knack for banter in both female friendships and romantic relationships. She also write characters who are self aware grown ups who recognize and deal with their daddy issues. My only quibble was Drew’s career journey from hedge fund manager to hospital turn operations consultant didn’t make much sense to me (pretty wildly different tracks), and I honestly thought he would have been even more interesting as a normally successful consultant, without the hedge fund mega millions. That “picnic” scene set up was weird, for sure.

Overall a fun steamy summer read, and probably the best of the Boyfriend Project trio.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
4 stars for "The Hookup Plan," an excellent book full of second chances, intelligent characters, and steamy hookups!

London Kelley and Drew Sullivan were high school rivals and co-valedictorians. They haven't seen each other since high school ended. London is now an overachieving pediatric surgeon devoted to her patients, and Drew is an ultra-rich hedge fund manager/money genius. One thing leads to another on the night of their 15-year high school reunion, and London and Drew find themselves agreeing to a one-night-only, no-strings-attached hook-up. Shortly after, circumstances at her hospital find Drew and London working closer together than she would like, and their one night together becomes an ongoing fling. Could they stop being enemies and start being lovers? Heck, Drew will settle for just being friends.

After reading "The Hookup Plan," I immediately added author Farrah Rochon's other two books to my TBR. I did not know this title was part of an ongoing series, but I'm keen to catch up because I adored this book!

London and Drew are such well-written characters that I found myself unable to put this book down. Their banter, their chemistry, and their connection made me want more, More, MORE of them! London is a strong, independent character, but her past experiences have made her wary and untrusting, especially when it comes to forming a friendship or relationship with Drew. Drew might seem like he has it all, good looks, a nice car, a sweet disposition, and tons of money, but his trauma is also holding him back in different ways. Farrah Rochon balances the humor and heart with a touch of drama and a big helping of steaminess and sensuality to form a well-rounded, awesome book. There is also a lot of great "girl time" between London and her friends Taylor and Samiah. I loved their interactions with each other, and I found myself laughing out loud during most of the scenes featuring these three women. My one critique is that maaaaybe it could have been a tad bit shorter in the middle and a little longer towards the end. It feels like the ending is a bit abrupt (even though I like how it ends!).

(Tropes: high school enemies-to-lovers, cinnamon roll MC, forced proximity, workplace romance, he falls first, dual POV, second chance)
(TW: heavy themes involving death, terminal illness, absent/neglectful parents, gaslighting)

Thank you to NetGalley, and the author, for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated in any way for my review.

What if your best friends told you the best way to de-stress from your busy doctor life would be a casual, no strings attached, hookup? What happens when you take their advice and end up in bed with your high school nemesis after your fifteen year reunion!

Landon Kelley and Drew Sullivan are a fiery match, their story unfolding between the sheets and the hospital. Will their past keep them apart or will their attraction to one another rule out?

If you are a fan of a strong female lead and enemies to lovers trope - with the perfect hint of heat - The Hookup Plan will be your next great read.

✨Book Review✨

The Hookup Plan
Farrah Rochon
Pub Date: August 2, 2022

“Yeah, I already know what you want from me, London. But I think we need to redefine this imaginary line that you’re not willing to cross.”

👠 Synopsis:
Successful pediatric surgeon London Kelley just needs to find some balance and de-stress. According to her friends Samiah and Taylor, what London really needs is a casual hookup. A night of fun with no strings. But no one—least of all London—expected it to go down at her high school reunion with Drew Sullivan, millionaire, owner of delicious abs, and oh yes, her archnemesis.

Now London is certain the road to hell is paved with good sex. Because she’s found out the real reason Drew’s back in Austin: to decide whether her beloved hospital remains open. Worse, Drew is doing everything he can to show her that he’s a decent guy who actually cares. But London’s not falling for it. Because while sleeping with the enemy is one thing, falling for him is definitely not part of the plan.

💭 Thoughts:
It took me a little bit of time to get into this book. I hadn’t read the previous two books in the series, though this can be read as stand-alone. It wasn’t until about 60% in that things started happening and I started really loving Drew and London. So don’t DNF early!

This was a fun, enjoyable read. I really like the heroine, London. She is a strong willed, well educated, independent woman. The banter between her and Drew was great. Drew had me rooting for him from the moment he was introduced. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves a sweet cinnamon roll hero!

I also loved the hospital setting. I’ve been an ER nurse for the last 15 years and found a lot of the hospital references to be very relatable.

Read if you enjoy:
❤️ Enemies to Lovers
❤️ Cinnamon Roll MC
❤️ References to Doctor Life
❤️ Strong Female Friendships

The Hookup Plan is the first book I've read from Farrah Rochon and what a delightful read it was! Although this book is the 3rd book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. London and Drew are two high-school rivals who end up hooking up at their school reunion. For London, this was a one-time deal until she realizes that Drew is actually in town to stay for awhile. In fact, Drew is now audit the hospital she works at!
London is your bold and passionate pediatric doctor with a mission to save her hospital. I really appreciated how Farrah wrote London to be a complex character through her relationships to family. However, Drew was the reason I enjoyed this book. His sensitivity to London's needs, patience to wait for London to fall in love with him, and the fact that he had a longtime crush on London just made him the Perfect Boyfriend. Okay, also being rich and hot is an extra bonus. Highly recommend checking this book out just for Drew alone!

Thank you to Farrah Rochon, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) , and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
The Hookup Plan is the conclusion to Farrah Rochon’s Boyfriend Project trilogy, and this is the best of the series yet. The recurring cast of three unexpected friends brought together by betrayal by the same man have come so far together, and I love the subtle ways their friendship is highlighted with two of them happy in love, and London on the precipice of finding her match.
Some of the tropes here could be very hit-or-miss, like enemies-to-lovers who sleep together. I had a moment of panic early on when the book pulled the line “we don’t have to like each other to have sex,” which had also appeared in one of my worst disappointments of the year. But the self-awareness in the writing and the fact that the two leads have such a complicated history together helped to endear me to them.
London is incredibly sympathetic. She’s an overachiever who is seemingly doing very well as a doctor. But she has a lot of baggage from growing up with a father who had high expectations of his kids, and nothing his daughters did was good enough.,.but once he had a son, he was prepared to go to the moon and back for him. The fact that she has reasonably normal relationships with her siblings despite this is shocking…although the pressure to be perfect explains her animosity toward Drew, who was her academic rival in school, even if he never actively tried to outdo her. And the fact that his firm is involved in a work thing that could affect the future of the hospital does not help the situation.
Drew is a generally solid, good guy, and while he does make mistakes, like not being straight-up with London about why he’s in town at the start, he doesn’t do it out of malice. He‘s always liked her and doesn’t want her to dislike him. He also has family issues of his own as he is still working to process his grief at the loss of his mother, which allows for him to relate to London, once she’s allowed herself to let her guard down and relate to him on an emotional level.
They have pretty great chemistry together from the first moment they encounter each other again, and I love the balance of the emotional side of their relationship with the more sensual side.
There’s a lot to love about this book. Fans of all three will be happy to see all three heroines happy and in love, and continuing to support each other. And even if you haven’t kept up with the series so far, it’s a fabulous read if you love Black contemporary romance with a well-executed enemies-to-lovers arc.

A fun enemies to lovers romance, this was my first book from the series and I overall enjoyed it. I liked London, although she really needed to get past high school. I also really liked Drew, who was a fantastic, supportive "enemy". I think the interplay between the characters was good- it was nice to see how their history made them into how they were. I just wished that London didn't seem so fixated on how Drew affected her high school career (once he came into the picture, she was no longer the "best" at everything so she considered him an enemy from that time forth). Overall, though, I love strong and smart female leads and I felt like the author did a fantastic job with the set up and bringing us through their story. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an early read!

I'm clearly in the minority here but The Hookup Plan was just okay for me. This is a high school enemies to adult lovers troupe - which is normally a troupe I enjoy. However, I felt like London and Drew were very stereotypical characters - both driven/super successful and generous - which meant you could almost predict how they were going to act/behave in any situation. I also didn't fully buy into the love between London and Drew - it seemed to blossom out of no-where sort of randomly.

Thanks, Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

This series has included one was my favorite female friend groups, and it’s always sad to see them go.

This book has a blend of enemies to lovers, with a strong female lead. The heroines in this series have been amazing, all needing partners, not someone to save them.

One of the things I liked best about this book, is that the 70% ‘crisis’ is not centered around the relationship. It’s an external issue, which as a reader you will want to see resolved, but as a romantic, you can see how they already have moved past that possible drama.

Drew and London have so much history, and I really appreciate that they talk through the reasons why they had so much animosity between them. Especially since Drew has been harboring some feelings.

An enemies to lovers romance with a fun completing storyline. There was a great chrmistry and romance between the two main characters as they also navigated through some tough personal issues. I found bthe steamy parts to be rather lacking.

London Kelley, superstar pediatric surgeon (and one of the three women who became good friends after a live tweet incident outing that they were all dating the same jerk at the same time), is at her 15 year high school reunion when she reconnects with her nemesis Drew Sullivan. The thing is, he never knew how much London saw him as competition (and still does apparently) because he was half in love with London from the minute Drew moved into her high school Junior year. London needs stress relief, so she propositions Drew for a one-night-stand, thinking he would be out of her life after the weekend was over. Much to her annoyance, Drew shows up at London’s hospital Monday morning.

The Hookup Plan is the third in Ms. Rochon’s delightful Boyfriend Project series. While the main female characters are all connected, the stories are standalone. London is a strong, self-made woman who likes to have control. Drew Sullivan messes that up because she cannot help herself around him. At first I was annoyed that a woman as smart and progressive as London keeps having sex with Drew then hating herself for it. However, the author does a nice job of transitioning London from someone who despises Drew to someone who recognizes why she’s held onto that anger and that Drew is not competition.

London has so much to offer and has had so many disappointments. I loved watching her learn to love herself not for all she’s accomplished but because she’s a decent human being. I loved how she stands up for others. Drew is sure of himself, but needs to heal a large wound before he can move forward. I loved seeing their friendship develop. The characters are both relatable and real, despite their wealthy and influence. The author got me inside their minds and hearts, and I understood their motivations and actions.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed getting to know these characters who’ve come a long way since we first met in The Boyfriend Project. Each woman is unique and her story true. This series is wonderful and I highly recommend picking up The Boyfriend Project first, and read all three titles.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot
