Lottie’s forced to stay at her new stepdad’s ski cabin in Tahoe with her stepsister Jade, while their parents celebrate their honeymoon in Reno. When a solar flare erupts, it leaves the entire cabin without power. As Lottie and Jade look for extra jackets to keep warm and wood to burn, two strangers in a red pickup truck show up looking for a friend. When they realize they’ve got the wrong cabin, they leave. Soon after, another stranger appears and claims to be lost and looking for shelter during the storm.

This story was enjoyable as a whole; however, it was drawn out quite a bit. I found it too slow for my liking. While it was nice getting to know the characters, I kept anticipating what the guys in the red pickup truck wanted and why they were there. It takes a while to get to that point and I was expecting a bigger twist and a deeper explanation as to what was going on, but it’s what you see is what you get. Nonetheless, I enjoyed Parrack’s style of writing. She’s very descriptive, which immerses the reader in the story. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for this advanced reading copy (eARC) in exchange for my honest review.

This was a quick but suspenseful read. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it!

My only critique is that I wish there had been a bit more character development aside from Jade's off-the-cuff comment about her and her dad being the only BIPOC people in the area. That felt a little like checking a box.

OMG!!!!! I loved everything about this book. Don't Let In The Cold is an edge-of-your-seat story I just couldn't put down. This is a great one to read during the winter when you are stuck inside. I'll definitely be recommending this one to people who love a great thriller.

This was such an incredibly, twists-filled, action-packed, atmospheric book! Our story begins with Lottie's mom leaving her all alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere with only her new stepsister as company. And let's be honest, considering how Lottie and her stepsister, Jade, have been behaving, it looks like its going to be a long weekend. It only gets longer though when a solar flare knocks out all the power in the area, and there's a blizzard on the way. Not to mention that there's clearly someone trying to get inside the house while the two girls are sleeping. A fire and quite a few accidents later, they're on the run from some shady characters, in the middle of a blizzard. It would be a near impossible mission for anyone, but Jade has asthma and Lottie has severe migraines. Considering everything they go through, it would be a miracle if they even make it out of the storm alive. Despite all the heart-pounding moments, there was a touch of sweetness underneath. Obviously, danger brings people together closer, and Lottie and Jade were no exception.

I did have one problem, however: why did the author have to ship Lottie and Alex together?? She had a perfect opportunity to create a "sibling-like" relationship, like she did with Alex and Jade. Why must romance be the answer to everything?? Are gay people only able to have platonic relationships? Besides which, romance felt odd in this book anyways because they were on the run and trying to protect each other so much. It just felt so out of place, and I just really hated the romantic arc the author put in. I loved all the thrills, but seriously, this just makes me really upset.

I really didn’t like this book, sadly. The concept and the suspense plot were alright.

But I could not get passed the style of writing and forced dialogue. Just didn’t read as natural for me at all.

I just finished this book and surprisingly liked it a lot. At times the story was maybe a bit unbelievable as in how many times can bad things keep happenings the same group of people, but it didn't really affect the story and a negative way or anything. Basically to new stepsisters due to circumstances are spending the night in a cabin together in Tahoe and unexpected blizzard hits. During this unexpected blizzard they also get some unexpected visitors. It was not only a book about survival but it was also a book about family and coming to terms with your own issues. I really liked that the author used a thriller/survivor format of a book to address some issues in life that you normally wouldn't associate with a thriller/survival book I would definitely say 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this Arc and exchange for an honest review.

Definitely YA. Dragged a bit at times and Felt like the lead up and follow up were not complete.
Good Quick read overall. (netgalley preread)

Phew. What a stressful book! I was dying to know what would happen to these characters and was all in from the start. This book is fast-paced and full of twists and turns. None are too far-fetched where it doesn't feel like it could really happen.

Characters were LOVABLE. I loved them all and was rooting for them start to finish! Some of the characters had to grow on you but I do believe that was part of the growth of the novel.

Some downsides: The misspellings were RAMPANT through this novel. It was on almost every other page. I'm not sure how it made it through editing.

If you're looking for a winter thriller (stranded in a snowstorm) then this is a must read! I love books like this so much. Reminds me of The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley, One by One by Ruth Ware, and An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena but for young adults!

Excellent book! So well written that I felt cold reading it! Great story with well-developed characters. So suspenseful!

I love suspense stories that take place in harsh wintry weather conditions in isolated places, so the description of two stepsisters staying alone in their parents’ cabin one night when a solar flare causes a blackout sounded like the perfect read.

The girls are trying to have a fun evening when the power goes out. A red pick-up truck pulls up with two teenage boys claiming to have taken a wrong turn, I was screaming inside, “Don’t open that door!” They are not the only unplanned visitors, and when a fire breaks out, the girls are forced outside and into the blizzard to try and find help.

More details would give away spoilers, but the story is compelling and leads to a satisfying conclusion. As a Y/A novel, I appreciated the blended family scenario, inclusion of people of color, and LGBTQIA positivity. Recommended for those who love suspenseful winter survival stories with young adult characters. #NetGalley #DontLetTheColdIn

I really liked this story! I was super excited for a survival thriller book and I thought this gave me everything I would expect and more! I was very happy that there was representation from race to sexuality in this novel as well! The pacing was super well and I couldn't put it down until I figured out what happened in the end! I thought the bonding between all of the characters was also done very well too!

I absolutely adored the premise of this book. Isolated cabin (checked) a snowstorm (checked) a survival story (checked).

I dove into this one with a lot of interest and the beginning of the story was engrossing and I was hooked. Except that the middle and end parts really dragged down the story. The creepy and scary "stuck in the snowstorm" part got bogged down with scenario after scenario of improbable circumstances and "bad guys" that were, unfortunately, boring and did not make sense within the story.

Also, one of the characters has a dog and I kept worrying about him throughout the story (although I admit this is more my issue than a problem with the book).

I do like the writing style and the plot certainly captured me.

A one-note survival story with some interesting thriller elements but an ultimately disappointing and forced romance.

I adore unique fiction, and this is such an interesting premise. I recommend because of the story itself, writing style, and its ability to transport you into a different world.
