A thoroughly wonderful romance that is perfect for any adult collection. I was completely invested in it from start to finish, and can see it circulating well!

With her latest novel, A Remarkable Rogue, Anna Harrington takes us back to the Armory and the men who serve the king there.

Captain Nathaniel Reed has been assigned to investigate Baroness Sydney Rowland and her involvement with Scepter, the group of revolutionaries attempting to overthrow the government. Nate is attracted to Sydney but doesn’t trust her. She is equally attracted to him but doesn’t trust him either. As things progress, they slowly uncover each other’s secrets and test the limits of their attraction.

Combining mystery and steamy romance, Anna Harrington’s fifth book in the Lords of the Armory series is a great story.

A Remarkable Rogue feels like a continuation of the last book in this series, Relentless Rake, and possibly the last of the Sceptre series. This book has more of the scepter plot than the prior but the hero and heroine are just as steamy. We haven't gotten to Clayton which makes me think that maybe it's not the end.

Captain Nathanial Reed is tasked with following Baroness Sydney Rowland to see if she will lead to the criminal masterminds behind the Scepter organization. Both Nate and Sydney are mourning lost loves and quickly connect but before they get together, they need to work on their trust issues and process grief. It's also a race to figure out who is blackmailing Sydney and how to disentangle her from Scepter.

The best part about this series has been the male heroes and their equally strong female counterparts. Nate is wrestling with guilt and issues from war and Sydney has her own demons, together, they find a way to heal each other and help the other move on. I loved the emotional depth of these characters and how much Nate and Sydney connected because of their similar histories.

One of the things I love about Anna Harrington's books is that her writing draws you in and even with a spy plot, it's not so overly complicated that you need to catch up on a lot of backstories. From the first chapter, I was committed to Nate and Sydney's HEA.

Thank you NetGalley. This is the second book and will help some to read the first one but Anna Harrington refers back enough to fill you in on what happened before this story. Nate has assigned himself to Baroness Rowland to see what her part in the espionage is but he is attracted to her. Actually they are attracted to each other. She is worried for her son who no one is suppose to know about. Nate takes her to see Robert and others in the plot become known. Both the Baroness and Nate learn things about themselves and how to look to the future and leave the past behind. A good message there.

Captain Nathaniel Reed is searching for the leaders of Sceptre . They are trying to assassinate the Prime minister and the Prince regent. The next person on his radar might not be as she appears.
Lady Sydney Rowland has a secret that she will protect with her life.
This historical romance is full of mystery and adventure. Our characters are in grave danger all the way through. This is part of a series and while you could read it on it's own, it's much better to read the series in order because the conspiracy runs from the first book until this one. The people our hero is hunting come from many different walks of life. It's, very hard to tell just who they may be.
Very exciting.

“And be assured that your enjoyment would be for much longer than a few minutes”
“She wanted nothing to do with any of them. And absolutely nothing to do with Captain Reed”
“Oh, this man was dangerous”
I absolutely loved this book!!!
This is the fifth in the “Lords of the Armory” series and I had already read the fourth one, also through NetGalley!
But this one … if possible was even better than the last one!!!
With some enemies to lovers trope, some forced proximity and even some “who did this to you” trope … this story will enchant you till the very end !!
Nate and Sydney’s relationship was just amazing to get through and all the pain and the struggles they had to overcome to get to happiness … it all made me laugh and cry and feel pain and happiness too !!!
I absolutely loved this story !! The writing style was easy enough to made me dig into the book without the sensation of a too complicated plot (despite it being really mysterious and engaging) with the right about of fluffy scenes and spice !!!
Omg the spice !!! It was really great !!
It seems this author as an ability to make me lover her stories !!! And this Lords of Armies … well they’re something else !!
“His body wanted her, even if his heart was too dead to admit it”
“The most impossible, obstinate, challenging, and alluring woman he’d ever met”
“He wanted her with a primal need he’d never felt for any other woman”

I really enjoyed this story. Although I didn't hear about the series before, so came late to the party, because of the author's great writing, I wasn't lost. Nate and Sydney are instantly likable and make you yearn for their happy ever after. Both carry scars from the past, some physical and dome emotional. And the author does a wonderful job of making you understand their actions. It is steamy but in a way that is a slow burn. A highly addictive read from a favorite author!

I loved Anna Harrington's last book in the Lords of the Armory series, but unfortunately this one was not my favorite and pretty much the entire reason comes down to the hero of this story, Captain Nate Reed. At the beginning, Nate is single-minded in his quest to bring down Scepter, the overarching villainous organization from the previous books, leaving no room for romance or family. His estranged family does reach out to him but he is too hampered by the past to allow them into his life. As for romance, Nate's wife died three years ago in childbirth and the experience has left him in deep mourning for her and no desire to find another woman to fall for. All of this is good set up until he begins to take every chance possible to lecture the heroine, Sydney, about all the things she needs to step up and do better.

He lectures her on how she needs to step up to be a mother to her illegitimate child, while not at all recognizing the sacrifices she has made for her child, and then also lectures her on how she needs to open her heart to loving him despite him spending the entire first half of the book refusing to sleep with her because it would be a betrayal to his former love. All of this just irked me and made me want Sydney to find a love interest who didn't spend most of his time judging and lecturing her.

I loved Sydney; I thought her struggles and her character was well drawn and that's what made Nate so frustrating for me. It's rare in historical romances to find a character who is self-sufficient and bruised but resourceful and fun and fiery from the very beginning. Sydney is all of those things, but Nate just judges her constantly.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first book I’ve read by Anna Harrington, but I will be reading more. This isn’t your typical regency romance, which I liked, but I prefer a little more steam.

In A Remarkable Rogue, Captain Nate Reed and Baroness Sydney Rowland are at odds in a plot to overthrow the government. As the attraction between them grows, the Baroness has to decide if she can trust Reed with the secret she’s trying to protect.

I read this book in a day. It’s a quick, fun read. Overall I liked it, although I don’t think it was well named as I don’t think Reed is a rogue. And, while I enjoyed the spy/government agency storyline, I would have liked a little more chemistry/steam between the main characters.

A Remarkable Rogue delivers intrigue, danger and romance in a delightful package. Terrific escapism into the Regency Era with steamy scenes.

Captain Nathaniel Reed is on the hunt for information about Scepter, a shadowy figure with secret ties to the organization determined to overthrow the government. A lead has him investigating Lady Sydney, Baroness Rowland. Sydney has spent years keeping secrets...the biggest one a secret child she is determined to protect. Nate needs to get to the bottom of the blackmail scheme, but can the two trust each other and work together to catch a killer?

This is the fifth book in the Lords of the Armory series. It revolves around a group of military men and government agents tasked with bringing down treasonous group. The individual pieces are resolved at the end of each book, but the larger investigation continues. This book can mostly stand alone, although I recommend reading book four where Nate and Sydney were introduced into the storyline.

This was another fantastic addition to the series! Nate and Sydney were easy characters to connect with. They had both been married and, although their previous relationships were completely different, they both continue to be weighed down by their pasts. They are both assessing the other, trying to decide how much faith to place on each other. It doesn't come easily, but it felt authentic and their early attraction grows as they have build trust in one another. The intrigue and the heat built beautifully throughout the story.

Tropes: Widow/Widower, Spy/Govt Work, Protector, Secret Baby

Now that the husband Lady Sydney despised is dead, she'll do anything to get her son back and protect him. That includes risking her life when she's coerced into working for a revolutionary group determined to overthrow the government.

Captain Nathaniel Reed has heard of Sydney's involvement with Scepter but he quickly learns that Sydney is innocent. He's determined to keep the secretive widow at arm's length despite the attraction that burns between them. But when she turns to him for help, nothing will stop him from coming to her aid and showing her exactly what she means to him..

Another terrific romance from Anna Harrington. :) Love the chemistry between the 2 main characters. Lady Sydney is a great character and so likable. Captain Nathaniel is so honorable. They both have their own issues to work through and it's so nice to see them together at the end. :) Really enjoyed this book.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc. .
