I simply love these series. Each book is better than the other one. What I truly love are heroines who are fearless and independent yet afraid and fight for the most precious things or persons in their lives. As it was in this book. Duchess Sydney Rowland keeps her secrets sealed yet rebel organization Scepter somehow finds out and blackmails her. Captain Nate Reed serving the crown tries to detect the heart of Scepter. While he firstly observes Lady Rowland as his suspect, he soon sees, that she is the victim because Scepter blackmails her. Now he has to protect not only the crown but also Sydney. While they try to keep their distance they fight the attraction between them. Can Captain Reed protect both his heart and his proteges? Can Lady Rowland stay independent but still fall in love? I loved the interaction between both main characters. I could feel their attraction through the pages. The plot grabbed me from the beginning and kept me on pins and needles throughout until the very end.

I love love love Anna Harrington! I’m a huge fan of her books and this one is not an exception!
Lady Sydney Rowland, Baroness Rowland, has spent a lifetime keeping secrets, one of them being her young son. Now that the husband she despised is dead, she'll do anything to get her son back and protect him however she can. And that includes risking her life when she's coerced into working for a revolutionary group determined to overthrow the government. Captain Nathaniel Reed has heard of Sydney's involvement with Scepter. Though he quickly learns that Sydney is innocent, he's determined to keep the secretive widow at arm's length despite the attraction that burns between them. But when she turns to him for help, nothing will stop him from coming to her aid and showing her exactly what she means to him...
I adored these two, they are both amazing characters. I’ve read all Anna’s books and I think this one is in my top 3. It’s sexy, witty and addictive, but at the same time is full of aghast, emotional boundaries and ghosts of the past. The chemistry between them is off the chart, but Nate has an amazing willpower that makes as suffer and fight his attraction al the way. There’s suspense, a bit of action, lots of romance and steamy times. I couldn’t stop reading.
I highly recommend this book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another great addition to this series. I love the drama and suspense woven throughout the story. I did find parts very slow, but the story picked up quickly. I was shocked when the head of Septer was revealed. I think the reasoning behind Septer was kept well within the time period. I am not sure, but it feels like this was the final book of the series. Regardless, well done!

This is book 5 in the Lords of the Armory series and definitely one of my favorites. It does work as a standalone but I think the mystery and suspense of Scepter is worth reading the whole series. Plus it is helpful to know some of the dynamics and other characters that come up.

Lady Rowland was introduced in Book 4. Here, Sydney is front and center, a widow with a fortune and a secret. Captain Nate Reed is determined to figure out her role in the murderous Scepter organization. The two have immediate chemistry and that makes for great tension and the inevitable sexy times. As they fall in love, each character is dealing with grief in a different way, what family means or should mean, their place in society, who and how to trust, and the mystery of Scepter which has endangered everyone from the Prince Regent and the Prime Minister on down.

The chemistry is great. I love having main characters with tension, that push pull makes this a page turner. I especially loved that Sydney knew her own mind and knew she wanted Nate and was willing to take steps to seduce him. It is refreshing to have a female main character who admits her own lust and desire and acts on it independently. Nate is more reticent, he's afraid he's dishonoring his late wife, but the attraction and chemistry is too strong. Sexy times are obviously on the page and are great. They are both hot and full of the intensity and emotion that makes them work.

I also appreciated the handling of themes of family and grief. They aren't themes that are smacking you in the face, but it's realistic to have characters who have baggage and pasts and need to learn how to move towards the future. Even better, these two main characters talk about it. They admit what they are afraid of, and they help each other see a way forward. It's a mature relationship and they act like mature adults. Such a change and I loved it.

The Scepter plot continues. Harrington has included just the right amount of suspense in the series, to keep you wondering and have a heart racing moment or two of danger. Usually, this kind of suspense doesn't work well drawn out over this many books, but I think it's working. There is just enough foreshadowing and drops of hints, that it's rarely a complete surprise exactly who the villain is in each book, but their motivation is always different and surprising. That's no different here. And while the characters believe they've ended Scepter - another book is coming. So there's more and I'm excited to see what happens next.

This is a great addition to what has been a great series. I highly recommend this to historical romance fans, especially romance fans looking for some suspense and adventure.

Note: This is book 5 in a series, but I read it without having read the preceding books, and was able to understand what was going on without getting lost.

The book opens up with Captain Nate Reed shadowing then confronting Lady Sydney Rowland, suspected accomplice to Scepter, a dangerous organization set on overthrowing the government. From their first encounter, sparks are already flying. The chemistry between these two is instant, and the dialogue is easily flowing and witty. Sydney denies any connection with the rebel group but Nate can tell she's not telling him everything. The investigation keeps Nate within Sydney's orbit, but once he learns she's innocent and is being blackmailed, he sets out to protect her and her secret.

Nate is such a swoony hero, I'm absolutely smitten. While he's honorable, quick to spring into action, and determined, Nate's still grieving and feeling guilt over the death of his wife. Sydney is independent and living an opulent, social life, when all she wants is to be able to openly embrace her secret. The two slowly trust, become vulnerable, and develop genuine feelings for the other. This coupling is healing for both of them, and helps them overcome the insecurities they have.

Along with the romance, there's some espionage and action mixed into the story. I think this would be a great read for anyone interested in getting into historical romance!

There's something so satisfying about a historical romance with threads of espionage. It tickles that part of my brain that needs a little tiny tiny smidgen of intrigue with my fluff and steam and A Remarkable Rogue fit the bill perfectly.

A Remarkable Rogue was published in July 2022. Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca, NetGalley and the author for the ARC.

The fifth book in the Lords of the Armory Series, A Remarkable Rogue, final gives us some answers about the conspiracy behind Scepter that we have been chasing throughout this series. The story begins with Captain Nathaniel Reed of the Horse Guards beginning to investigate Lady Sydney Rowland's involvement with Scepter that was discovered in the previous book in the seriers. With the help of his half brother Alexander Sinclair, Captain Reed relatively quickly discovers Sydney's innocence in the political plot, but needs her continued help to get new clues to the leadership of Scepter. Captain Reed vows to protect Sydney at all costs, as Scepter escalates thier threats to her and her family. Both the Captain and the Baroness lost a loved one in their pasts and sharing this experience brings the two closer, even as the Captain struggles to overcome his loss and his entangled familial relationships. I really enjoyed this story revolving around Captain Reed and Lady Rowland, and as a reader fell a little bit in love with the honorable Captain Reid. It was also very satisfying to finally get answers to the mysteries/conspiracies that have been slowly unraveling in previous books.

I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher for honest review.

I enjoy this series and I've always been a fan of Anna Harrington's writing. This story specifically was a good read I liked the main character's of this story Nathaniel and Sydney. The story opens with Nate investigating Lady Sydney because he thinks that she is connected to the Sceptre. Both characters find it very hard to be open with each other because they are keeping secrets from each other. Although Nate finds it hard to trust Sydney that doesn't affect the way he treats her he's so sweet and gentlemanly towards her. The story really grabbed my attention and I enjoyed that we got more of the intrigue in this book with the mysterious Sceptre. I'm excited for the next book of the Lords of the Armory series. I received and ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

This is a second chance romance but not between two former lovers but two people who has to open again to love.

He wants to bring down a secret society, she is being blackmailed by that secret society, so they work together to try to bring it down, while at it, they both try to don't let their attraction for each other bring out the best of them.

It's such a good book, i recommend it for those who love historical romance.

This was my first Anna Harrington book and I started at the fifth one in a series, but it was FANTASTIC. The plot was compelling, the romance captivating, the pacing compulsive. This is everything I need in a romance novel. I will be finishing the rest of the series ASAP.

Nate is a war hero, a widower and one of the good guys trying to bring down a secret network of revolutionaries known as Scepter. Sydney is a widowed Baroness with a secret son who is being blackmailed into helping Scepter blackmail others. When she and Nate team up to bring down the nefarious network, they must also fight their growing desire for each other, work through their past romantic traumas and risk the connection of a real love.

The action-filled plot kept my pages turning long into the night. It was pure, escapist fun. The romance felt natural, not forced. I'm usually more compelled by the hero in romance novels, but I felt he and Sydney were equally sympathetic and loveable characters in this book.

I believe I read in Harrington's newsletter that her "Lords of the Armory" series was loosely based on different Marvel heroes. I guess Scepter would be Hydra in this case, but I didn't get any sense of any specific superhero from Nate. Maybe I'm just missing it, but I didn't need the comparisons constantly jumping out at me while I read either. So, I'll say I missed the homage to Marvel, but I didn't MISS it. If that makes sense.

Big THANKS to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the chance to read this ARC. Your faith in me has already paid off - I just bought three of the other books in the series. LOL.

This is the story of Captain Nate Reed (half-brother of Sinclair from book#4) and Baroness Sydney Rowland. Nate is tasked with the mission of following and interrogating Sydney in the aim of finding the leader of Scepter, a revolutionary group that has already attempted to assassinate the Prime Minister.

Nate quickly learns that Sydney is innocent and has been blackmailed by Scepter. Fearing for her only son's life, and pushed to her limits, she reluctantly concedes to asking for help from Nate.

There was attraction at first sight, but this all grows into admiration and tenderness for one another. Nate, a heroic soldier at heart, is still grieving for the people he has lost, but learns to accept and embrace life again as he slowly and steadily falls for Sydney. He is willing to do anything to defend her and her son. Sydney, a strong woman who's had a very difficult past, learns to trust in herself as a mother, and to open herself to being vulnerable again with Nate.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved both Nate and Sydney. They both have hearts of gold, they are both fierce and fearless when defending the ones they love. Learning to trust one another was a big element in this story.

The plot was solid and there were definitely a few twists that I didn't see coming. A solid 4 star read!

The investigation of Scepter continues. Captain Nathaniel Reed suspects that Lady Sydney Rowland, a widowed baroness, is in some way involved with the group. If he proves it, he hopes she will lead them to the leaders of the organization. He discovers she has a secret she is determined to protect and realizes she is a victim, not a collaborator. Now he is trying to find Scepter and keep her safe. It would help if she trusted him. This is an action-packed adventure and a heartwarming second-chance romance for Sydney and Nate. Nate and the Lords of the Armory finally have a clue that will reveal the leader(s) of Scepter. Will this be the end of the infamous group? Mystery, suspense, and danger make this story hard to put down. Great story with a very happy ending.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

A Remarkable Rogue by Anna Harrington is the fifth book of the Lords of the Armory. Lady Sydney Rowland, Baroness Rowland, has been keeping secrets. The biggest one being the existence of her young son. Her hateful husband now deceased, she yearns for contact with her child. Things take a terrifying turn when Sydney is blackmailed into working for a revolutionary group known as Scepter. Captain Nathaniel Reed is concerned by her involvement, but quickly learns of her innocence. Nate is determined to fight the attraction he feels for Sydney. But when she needs his help, there’s no going back.

I really enjoyed this dark, mysterious, and romantic story. I loved how despite the high stakes and tension, Nate and Sydney were able to find time for tender moments.

A Remarkable Rogue by Anna Harrington
⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the 5th book in the Lords of the Armory series. I have enjoyed reading some of the other books in this series and I particularly liked this one (probably my favorite that I've read in this series so far).

Lady Sydney Rowland has had her share of heartbreak in her young life. She is now widowed and lives independently, enjoying her life as it is. But she has a secret that is being exploited by Scepter. Then she meets Captain Nate Reed of the King's Horse Guards. Nate has been working to take down Scepter (an organization that is working to overthrow the government and monarchy). Nate has also had his share of heartbreak that he is struggling to move on from. Nate originally believes that Sydney is helping Scepter, but after confronting her a few times, he realizes she is another victim of Scepter and gets closer to her as they work to stop Scepter and build trust in each other.

As I mentioned, this is my favorite in the series so far! Can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

This book is the 5th book in the Lord of the Armory series.

Lady Sydney is being blackmailed by a secret society to do tasks that aren't too bad but who knows what they will ask of her next. She must protect her secret.

Captain Reed has heard of her involvement with scepter the secret society and goes to question her. Well she is not what she seems.

They get into a lot of trouble together, have tons of emotional baggage they work through, finally tell each other their secrets, only to discover there are so many more secrets they didn't know about, fall for each other, get super steamy and almost get unalived.

Luckily we end up, after a lot of turmoil, in a happy place. I love found families. This is kind of one, just cause the ton is rubbish and continues to punish those that the rich abuse and get pregnant. But years later try to fix what happened when said rich ahole is gone.

But seriously why are/were "byblows" and their mothers punished but not the Lord who put them in that position? Wish it wasn't an age old question, it's annoying af that they have and continue to get away with it. Rant over. Burn the patriachy. Ok now I'm done.

Pick up this series they are all enjoyable!!

Thank you sourcebookscasa and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

A revolutionary group wants to overthrow the government and take it to the assassination of the Admiralty. Captain Nate Reed, of His Majesty's Horse Guards, is ordered to investigate the Baroness Sydney Rowland. Sydney is being blackmailed for the secret of her son. Nate swears to protect her always, but this group of fanatics won't give up and it just may be Sydney's death. Not on Nate's watch. An exceptional hero who will make you sigh that he's not yours.
