Probably my least favorite of the first phase of THR books, though the ending was really compelling as it is some of the final moments before the start of the final phase of books. I just found most of the plot uninteresting and was waiting for the major conflict with the Nihil to come to a head, instead of enjoying the story as it went along.

Fantastic. My favorite way to consume Star Wars books is in audiobook form, and this was no exception. Riveting writing by Mr. Older, and excellent narration. The High Republic has been a high point in Star Wars storytelling, and this book was a stellar continuation of that franchise.

Another great High Republic book in the series that is great for expanding the Star Wars universe while getting away from the Skywalker family. This is the first YA-themed High Replublic book that I have read, so the word choice and tone seem different than what I was used to it, but as a middle school ELA teacher, I recognize that this style is perfectly suited for younger readers. I have a couple of students who love Star Wars and are currently trying to read some of the Thrawn books by Timothy Zahn. It is obvious that those books are a little too advanced for them so I will definitely be suggesting this book as a better choice to read. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Going to be adding this to my classroom library as soon as I can pick it up.

This book was really fun to listen to. The narrator did a great job, and the story is easy to get sucked into. I am loving the new star wars time frame.

Daniel Jose Older did a fantastic job bringing his characters from the High Republic comics to the page in Midnight Horizon. The characters come alive on the page and are full of fun quips and playful banter between them. Their struggles and trials are dealt with in a way that continues to give the story progressive motion as opposed to stalling shoe gazing that happens in a few of the previous Out of the Shadows. I loved this book and it was a fitting conclusion to the first phase of the High Republic.

The audiobook truly brought the characters to life and the narrator did a fantastic job.

The narrator for this edition of the High Republic meta-narrative, Todd Haberkorn, is the same as "Race to Crashpoint Tower. He does a great job differentiating between characters, and the audio production value is on par with the previous editions as well. Any listener of Star Wars young adult and young reader audiobooks will definitely enjoy it.

Review for the ARC ebook:
Daniel Jose Older crafted a fantastic book in "Midnight Horizon." It is an excellent addition to the High Republic series and a fantastic continuation of many of the young adult characters. The story moves quickly and keeps the reader engaged throughout the entire novel.. Of the two Older novels in this series, this one is by far the best and truly shows his talents as an author.

Very WIZARD! Seriously. The pairing of my favorite dorkable Padawans Ram Jomaran and Reath Silas was something I didn't know I needed, but now I just always want Ram and Reath to go on adventures together! Ram and Reath's bond are definitely the highlight of this book, but you'll also get great characters like the Bronbrax, Crash and her team, Lula, Zeen, Master Jedi Kantam Sy and Cohmac Vitus. Oh, and did I mention that this book is set on Corellia? And it features Proxima, the sewer worm from Solo. Daniel Jose Older is one of my favorite Star Wars writers - he's a Jedi Master that can deliver on the action, adventure, humor, and wisdom. I also enjoyed the production of this audiobook. Fantastic narrator, John Williams score, and most importantly the added sounds that really brings this book to life! It saddens me that this audiobook is an Audible exclusive! My library is unable to promote this fantastic production to our patrons, many who have listened to all the previous books in the series. I hope that future audiobooks will be available for libraries!

Avar Criss and the rest of the Jedi must try to prevent the Nihil from attacking the Republic on a scale that no one has seen before, but on Corellia two Jedi Masters and their Padawans look into another possible attack by the raiders.

This audiobook is narrated by Todd Haberkorn and he has a wide repertoire when it comes to voices. Some of them are simply changing his own voice, but others are manipulated and synthesized to seem like they are coming through a device.

As with many other Star Wars books, this one is accompanied by music in the background and some fun sound effects. While this can be occasionally distracting, it generally helps to set the tone and pull you into the story.

The one overwhelming thing about this entire story is the large number of characters. It can be a little confusing trying to keep track of them so I advise anyone listening to the audiobook to play it at normal speed.

Overall it was a very enjoyable book and fits perfectly in with the rest of the High Republic books. The added depth to the hyperspace disaster and the attack on Starlight Beacon continues to get more and more interesting!

This Star Wars series takes place BEFORE the iconic Star Wars movie sagas: about 200 years before. The Republic is new and the main enemy is a bunch of space pirates and marauders called the Nihil. This story mostly takes place on Corellia and has all the qualities of a Star Wars audiobook that you would come to expect: voices, sound effects and music.

What I loved most about this one: it showed the complicated relationships between the Jedi and their padawans. It also showed the complicated relationships between Jedi and the force.

Two young padawans, Reath and Ram, get caught up in the drama of Corellia when they are unsuspectingly drafted into Crash's employment and then protection. I love the blurred lines between Jedi rules and ways and the shenanigans of a few padawans. The padawans and crash set about to investigate the murder of one of Crash's crew while the Jedi masters hunt down the elusive Nihil. Paths are crossed. Schemes are hatched. Revenge is served.

I did have trouble following all the action and all the characters around the galaxy in this one. It was hard to keep track of who was connected to whom and which action sequence was connected to other characters. It was action-packed from start to finish. The characters were quirky and endearing though. I liked the character development.

Overall, still love my Star Wars audiobooks!

Absolutely phenomenal audiobook. The Star Wars audiobooks never disappoint. The amount of incredible sound effects blows me away, pun intended, every time. Additionally, the narration itself is always so well done. Definitely top tier as far as audio content goes. My full review for the story can be found below:

**3.5-stars rounded up**

The High Republic era continues with Midnight Horizon from veteran Star Wars contributing author, Daniel Jose Older. This installment features a huge and varied cast of characters, many of whom will be familiar to Readers of previous HR-books.

The main action is set on the planet of Corellia and more specifically in its capital of Coronet City. Jedi Masters Kantam Sy and Cohmac Vitus get sent there, along with Padawans Reath Silas and Ram Jamoram, to investigate a possible Nihil attack on the Core Worlds. Known for its massive shipyards, Corellia would be a tantalizing target for the evil Nihil raiders.

It's on Corellia that Reath and Ram run into Crash, a bold young security specialist who lost one of her close friends during the recent attack. The young people team up and infiltrate the Coronet City night life, including a wacky ruse involving an intergalactic pop star, while the Masters pursue more mainstream channels of investigation.

This book was so packed full of action my head is still spinning. This is definitely one that I will need to read again in order to be able to pick up on all the finer points. Older's passion for the Star Wars galaxy is evident on every page. You can absolutely tell this is a person with vast knowledge of the world, characters and lore. It's not just action, however. This story is full of insights into many popular HR-characters.

Since this era began, the characters we have come to know have been through so much. There's a lot to process. I like getting the chance to go along with them on that journey.

Some of you may be wondering about my 3.5-star rating; although rounding up to a 4, it may seem low to some. Basically, for me, I wasn't as swept away in this installment as I have been with earlier works. I rate novels based off a comparison to other novels in the same genre that I have read. Star Wars, in my opinion, being a genre unto itself, that is what I am comparing this reading experience with.

I'll be honest, I did get lost at times trying to keep up with all the characters and action. Additionally, I found my attention sort of waxing and waning amongst the separate lines of the plot. With this being said, I fully accept that may be more of a me problem, than a problem with the actual book.

I respect this author's contribution to this world so much. I think the level of content here is fantastic. I just may need to read it again in order to be able to soak it all in. It's really good though, so I actually wouldn't mind...

Thank you so much to the publisher, Disney LucasFilms Press, for providing me with a copy of this to read and review. I appreciate it so much!! I have absolutely adored my time spent with the new High Republic materials and definitely recommend them to any Star Wars fan.
