I've read a few, but not all, of the books in Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series, and this book was a good reminder that it's time to get back to catching up on it. There are two mysteries going on here - one is a murder case that Jane Rizzoli is trying to solve, the other is a neighborhood mystery her mother, Angela, is determined is at play, but Jane chalks it up to an overactive imagination. As Jane and her friend, coroner Maura Isles, try to piece together the clues in a murder that makes no (obvious) sense, Angela investigates the neighborhood goings on and gets in over her head. Gerritsen mixes the elements of mystery, danger and humor nicely in this very enjoyable read.

This was another fantastic entry in the Rizzoli & Isles series. I loved that this one featured more of Angela Rizzoli (Jane’s mother) than previous installments. This was a great balance of crime thriller and the interpersonal relationships of Jane, her mother, and her best friend Maura. However this book could’ve used a dash more of Maura. She is my fictional bestie, after all and one of my favorite fictional characters. I devoured this book in one day, it was just that good!!

I have missed my time with Jane Rizzoli, a detective with the Boston police department, and Maura Isles, a medical examiner in the city. They are a wonderful duo and I love their interactions as they work to solve crimes. The characters are so well developed and I loved that this one focused more on Rizzoli’s mom, Angela. I can imagine having a busybody neighbor … or dealing with a mother who is too nosy. The crimes, the interactions between various characters, the twists and turns, and the shocking revelations at the end will have you turning the pages as fast as you can! Great addition to the Rizzoli and Isles series. I hope they’ll be back again soon. I’m ready for the next adventure.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Rizzoli & Isles are at it again in Listen to Me with plenty of murder, mayhem and surprises. These two well-developed and fascinating characters never give up and don’t always believe their instincts when things don’t add up.

The author has created another enjoyable mystery with two different stories happening at the same time. One with Jane Rizzoli, FBI agent, and Maura Isles, Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathologist, dealing with a vicious murder of a young woman and the other with Angelo Rizzoli, Jane’s mother, neighborhood watchdog who discovers strange things happening with her neighbors that cannot be explained. Jane doesn’t give up until she finds out what is going on next door in spite of her daughter’s warning to keep her nose out of other people’s business.

Jane has to not only handle the situation in the murder case but rescue her mother who is in trouble from her busybody attitude. Angela was quite the character in this story and stole each scene she entered.

An enjoyable read with a surprise ending.

Once again, I jumped into the middle of a series but I knew about this one. I knew this book was part of a series when I picked it up so I was prepared to perhaps be confused but I really wasn’t. I had read a few of Tess Gerritsen’s books before and I had enjoyed them, so I was anxious to see how a series of hers would be. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Angela and I liked the little twists that were inside the book which kept the book moving along.

Angela was Jane’s mother and she was my favorite character. I normally don’t care for busy-bodies in books but Angela was hilarious as she kept track of the neighbors around her. She seemed to know what was going on in the neighborhood or so, she thought. She had her own opinion and as she shared it, in the book, she had me chuckling. Her daughter Jane, is a homicide detective and Angela keeps the phone ringing to her daughter, if she spots anything out-of-the-ordinary hoping that her daughter will check it out. Angela doesn’t want the glory if they apprehend a criminal or stop a crime, Angela just wants a safe and secure environment. Jane, on the other hand, is tired of her mother countless phone calls over everything and anything and her mother’s calls begin to fall on deaf ears. Does her mother give up, nope! Her mother calls the police and yes, they’ve dealt with Angela before so they know the routine with her calls.

There’s been a report of a murder and when Jane and her partner investigate it, they realize this case is more than just a burglary/murder. This investigation is just the beginning of an adventure that turns into something much bigger than they imagined.

I enjoyed this book more than I anticipated. There were plenty of little twists here and there that changed the direction of the book and made me rethink that something else was up when I had thought that I had things figured out. I was glad that I was able to read this book as a stand-alone novel, too. I would like to go back and read the beginning of this series; it was that good. 4.5 stars I received a copy of this book from Random House Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion of this book, thank you for sending me this book. #RizzoliIslesListentoMe #NetGalley.

Tess Gerritsen is known for her Rizzoli and Isles series and each one is such a wild ride that you love. This series thrills you & terrifies you all at the same time but you can't put it down.

I have truly missed this series and I hope Dr Gerritsen continues it again!

In this book a college student is a victim of a hit and run, an ICU nurse is found murdered, and something is going on in Rizzoli’s childhood neighborhood. By the end everything is answered. I did guess the end correctly at about the 60% mark but still enjoyed this one. I liked that Angela had a much bigger part in this story and enjoyed her neighborhood mysteries.

If you’ve read and liked the other books in the series then you will enjoy this one. I’m a firm believer series should be read in order but I think you could still enjoy this even without reading the others first. However do not think the book series is like the tv show as they are very different in tone.

Thanks for the e-arc I received from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I'd forgotten how much I love this series until I read this one! I've enjoyed her books as well as the tv series so it felt like I was returning to old friends! Jane is the detective and Maura is the pathologist and they are friends who work closely together on cases that are fascinating. Nurse Sofia is killed in her own home and there are no real suspects. My favorite character has always been Angela (Jane's mom) who is such a lovable busy-body who loves scanning her neighborhood and searching for clues about ANYTHING! As usual in this series, there are SO many things going on: a van perusing the neighborhood, a young girl hit in a crosswalk, a young computer expert...and the list goes on! These are some of my all-time favorite books so I was lucky to get this one!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

It was a different take to have most of the book told through the eyes of Jane's mom, Angela, but it didn't make it interesting. The storyline lacked the intensity and drama of the previous books in the series. While it was an ok read, it vastly differed from what I have come to expect from R and I books. I wonder.....does T. Gerritsen have anything left to write about the main characters? Outside of their careers, Jane and Gabriel have settled into domestic bliss and Maura accepts that she will always be 2nd to Daniel's God. I just hope the next book isn't told through Det. Frost's eyes.

It is no secret that Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series is a hit. With multiple books and a defunct tv series based on the characters, Gerritsen already has a steady fan base and I consider myself in that club. Jane Rizzoli is back as super dedicated Boston detective, out to solve the murder of a ICU nurse. Before long Rizzoli, her partner, Frost and medical examiner Maura Isles recognizes that this murder is anything but random. Add in to the mix, Rizzoli's mother who has deemed herself the 'neighborhood watch person' and is not afraid to report all that is amiss in her neighborhood, for better or worse and the action is non-stop.

All in all, this novel is a welcome back of sorts to the series as Gerritsen has not published a Rizzoli & Isles book in many years. The plot is fast paced but intriguing and keeps the reader interested through the entire novel. Solid conclusion as well.

I will have to admit that despite my familiarity with both this author and the tv series inspired by this series, I have never actually read a Rizzoli and Isles novel. I don’t really know how it happened, but here we are. The nice thing about being new to the series and starting at book 13 is that it seems I didn’t need a thorough background to keep pace with this story. This is a new investigation which finds our heroine, Rizzoli investigating the brutal death of a middle aged nurse who is bludgeoned to death with a hammer in her own home. Despite this looking like a burglary gone wrong, something isn’t adding up for Rizzoli, she just can’t quite place what it is. There is more than one storyline in this novel, and more than one investigation. For Rizzoli to solve the case of the bludgeoned nurse, she must also solve the decades old homicide of a young mother and the subsequent disappearance of her three year old daughter. I will admit while I had an idea about how this story was going to unfold, I was a little surprised about just who was responsible for the death of the nurse. The best authors always manage to surprise you in the end, and Tess Gerritsen succeeds here. This may not be a nail biter on every page otherwise, but it has a twist at the end, and it brings us the wonderful characters that have become synonymous with the Rizzoli and Isles name. Suspense, plot twists, infidelity, noisy neighbors, murders, stalking - another gem from Gerritsen with favorite characters Rizzoli and Isles. Fans will not be disappointed as we get to know more about Jane’s mother Angela.

Thank you so much too NetGalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this arc honestly.

I feel like this series just gets better and better as we go on. I’ll start out with I loved this one. I enjoyed Angela being a bigger role in this book and her chapters. I could literally picture her along the things she was in the story and the way she thought, was reminiscent of an older generation watchdog for the neighborhood (we all know those type of neighbors). The pace was quick, the multiple stories and cases intertwined well and it finished up well and concisely. Definitely recommend and can’t wait for the next one in the series!

Rizzoli and Isles are on a mission once again. However, this time, enter Jane Rizzoli's mother, Angela. She is convinced that the new neighbors are up to no good. She's also pretty sure they have something to do with the missing teenage girl in the neighborhood. While Jane is trying to figure out the murder of Sofia Suarez, a nurse that seems to have no enemies, Angela is adamant that Jane focus her attention on the creepy neighbors up the street.

Fun antics, quick read, light-hearted (mostly) mystery.

This has been a cute series from the beginning and I recommend that you give it a try. Perfect for reading on the plane, sitting in a waiting room, or in the school pick-up line.

Thanks to Tess Gerritson, Ballantine Books, and Netgalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Detective Jane Rizzoli and her partner, Detective Barry Frost, are investigating the senseless murder of a ICU nurse named Sophia Suarez. She was found murdered in her home, and the murder wound evidence indicated the use of a round-head hammer. She was a widow who was universally loved in her neighborhood and by her boss and peers. Assisting in the investigation is the quiet, skillful coroner, Dr. Maura Isles. Clearly, Sophia had some secrets, as evidenced by her calls to a traceless burner phone and other random numbers out-of-state. When Jane discovers that Sophia’s murder was linked to a hit-and-run that happened months previously, she is even more unsettled about the case. In the meantime, Jane’s mother, Angela, has her hands full as the self-designated neighborhood watch. But in all fairness, nothing escapes Angela—not the disappearance of the rude young teen down the street, nor the weight-lifting Navy SEAL across the street, nor the infidelity of two other neighbors, nor the new odd neighbors directly across the street. Angela knows there is some kind of trouble, but after calling her daughter and the local police station relentlessly about suspicions and false alarms, when she actually needs help, will anyone listen?

This was a thrilling page-turner of a book by physician Tess Gerritsen, whose writing is so believable that it leaps from the page and captures you right from the beginning! It’s clear that not only the murderer and those murdered had secrets, but Angela’s “quiet neighborhood” had plenty of their own. This was a book full of excitement, with a variety of different happenings and enough twists and turns to keep the reader furiously flipping pages until the very end. Although this book was the last in a series, it read beautifully as a stand-alone. It’s unfortunate that this is my first Tess Gerritsen novel (*embarassed*) but I am now a fan (along with some of my most favorite authors in the genre), and my adventures with Gerritsen and her beautifully drawn characters and scenery have only just begun.

I’d like to thank NetGalley, Tess Gerritsen, and Ballantine Books for the ability to read and review this ARC.

Tess Gerritsen is hands-down one of my favorite suspense writers and I feel like I had to wait forever for this latest in the Rizzoli & Isles series. It was a fun and fast read just like all the others, and I really enjoyed that we get to hear Angela's voice and inner dialogue in this one. She's one of my favorite characters and she got her chance to shine in this book. Now to begin the wait for the next book...!

Another great addition to the Rizzoli & Isles series. This series was one of my first set of books when getting into thrillers many, many years ago. It was nice getting back into it. Thr banter between Maura and Jane never fails to disappoint and Gerritsen continuously write enjoyable thrillers. Nothing super different, but i always know it will be a good time.
