Leko Veeda is a recon-class lunar raider commander. He freed himself an other raiders from the aliens that created and bioengineered them. He's on a mission to infiltrate a human militia suspected of working with the Morax. He never expected to f ind his mate.

Julia Levitt has unique skills her father uses to assist in recruiting militia members. Protected from the details, her life is about to take a turn.

Earth is caught in between two alien races who want Earth for themselves, and rebel factions. Julia's family started a militia to fight the aliens but all isn't what it seems.

When Leko meets Julia the mating bond created an intense desire, but he knows his mission is vital. Julia may not yet trust him but she cannot deny her attraction. They may have instant lust, but they manage to work around it as they get to know each other better and discover her father's secrets.

An enjoyable quick read, but with a little more fleshing out, this could have been even better.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 3rd in a series, and I have not read the others. For me, I did not understand the world view-so maybe they should be read in order. Never quite got the oracle. I liked Julia and Leko. Odd ending 3 stars

Leko is is the third installment in Cyndi Friberg’s Lunar Uprising and continues the struggle of the Lunar Raider as they attempt to not only get control of their selves from under the Pylorians but also to be acknowledged by the UN as their own alien citizen. Leko is the tech savvy raider we met in the other books, and he is a spy for the lunar raiders. He has watched his friends meet their mates and knows he has his in his presence when he meets Julia.

Julia’s family is anti-alien and that means that she’s been fed some very interesting beliefs up to this point. She is however a good and decent person by nature. She must quickly choose her allegiance when she finds out that the leader of the Morax is deeply entrenched in dealings with her father. Leko and Julia being a match and letting the bonding fever loose during with Leko’s infiltration sure stirs the intensity. As usual it's an edge of your seat HEA adventure that leaves you rooting for the alien team. You guys nab a copy and see for yourself! This review was given on the ARC copy I received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. Happy reading!

Leko
Lunar Uprising, Book 3
by Cyndi Friberg

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in the series. It will make more sense read in order but is possible to be read as a stand alone. There are over arching plot themes through the series but each book is one separate couple. I do appreciate the character name as the title. It makes it nice not to have to hunt to figure out who’s book it is when you’ve been previously introduced to the characters.

This is a fated mates alien romance. It reminds me slightly of Laurann Dohners New Species series in that our heroes were essentially created in a lab and have no traditional family dynamic except this is in space and on the moon which they have colonized. There’s also an element of homegrown terrorism based on prejudice which is also a theme in the New Species series and reverberates in the current times. I very much enjoyed the book. It is really interesting to see the different perspectives within this unique world building set up. The most unusual aspect I feel is that their tech - ships, cities etc is partially biological and therefore can communicate with those that have an affinity for it and express definitive opinions and emotions based on their experiences. In fact one of the cities is enamored with our hero and not terribly understanding when he finds his fated mate.

Trigger warnings - death in childbirth (past), bad/controlling parent, prejudice, sibling death. High steam / open door.

5/5

This was a perfect Alien Mate romance. Very predictable which is not a bad thing. If this is your jam then buy it and enjoy it. You can't go wrong with it. It's a comfort read and you will know what to expect and sometimes you need that.

This is a very well-developed series with different alien cultures, but where details are revealed gradually as the story unfolds. Indeed, even the main alien species, the Lunar Raiders, know everything about their genetic heritage at the start.

This book takes us to one of the human rebel groups who has aligned with one of the various feuding alien groups, but to their detriment. The main female character teeters between being indifferent towards most of her family, yet being very loyal to them. Despite her loyalty, she always seems slightly apart from them. She doesn't have the anti-alien passion the rest of them do. She'd like to keep an open mind, but for the sake of her family, she supports their cause. But when a potential recruits turns out to be one of the Lunar Raiders, she's been open minded enough that she isn't resistant to see the truth he presents.

Undercover infiltration may be Leko's strength, but when he meets his mate, Julia, his attention to detail falters. Julia's family business is destroying aliens. But her heart really isn't into the rhetoric. Will Lee's attractive demeanour and her reaction to him cause a closer look at his intentions? Will her suspicions be waylaid by his truths? Can enemies become more than friends?

LEKO is the third instalment in Cyndi Friberg’s adult LUNAR UPRISING sci-fi, romance series. This is lunar raider/recon commander Leko aka Lee, and human female Julia Levitt’s story line. LEKO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: Eight years earlier, six Pylorian spaceships arrived on Earth asking for asylum claiming they were fleeing their immortal enemy, the wolf-like Morax, but in the ensuing years, the Pylorian began to take control, using their considerable powers to force the governments of Earth to do their bidding. In an effort to protect Earth, the Pylorian’s claim to have cultivated aka created the lunar raiders, a hybrid of three alien species (Morax, Pylorian, Dox Tory) one of which reacts instantly when their destined mate is near.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Julia and Leko) LEKO follows Leko has been sent to Earth, on a covert mission, to ferret out information about human male Hank Levitt, and his relationship to the lunar raider rebels, a relationship that may be predicated upon a need for war. Earth has been target in a war for power and control, and the influx of Pylorians, Morax and Lunar raiders means someone is lying, using humans in the process. Leko is determined to uncover Hank’s relationship and involvement with the rebels, a mission that places Leko side by side with his fated mate. Enter Hank’s daughter Julia Levitt, and the woman with whom Leko will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Leko and Julia, and the potential fall-out as the Levitt family has been targeted, and not everyone will survive.

Hank Levitt believes the enemy lives among them, and has sided with the Morax, in an attempt to save Earth from future invasion but Hank’s trust has been misguided, and the result places his family, including Julia, in the direct line of fire, a fire that Leko and his troops must stop before it destroys the woman he loves.

The relationship between Leko and Julia is quick to develop- an insta lust/love due in part to fated mates. Leko knows immediately Julia is his mate but pretending to be a human hybrid more confusing to our story line heroine. Julia believes the edicts of her father, and finds herself one of the instruments of potential destruction. Falling for Leko means going against her father’s rulings but our heroine will discover that her father’s directives are those of a power-hungry someone else. As Leko bides his time (a few days) before claiming his mate, Julia realizes nothing can stop the fated attraction between herself and the man with whom she is quickly falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters included Leko’s guardian Numid; commander Dracus; Julia’s friend Addison; Julia’s father Hank, her brothers David, Jess, Billy and Kyle, as well as the return of Zorak and Cat; and Rogar’s mate Marisol. There is something developing between Addison and Dracus. The requisite evil has many faces including Kwamar, Morax warrior and commander.

LEKO is a story of betrayal and lies, obsession and vengeance, racism, discrimination and specieism, friendships, family, relationships and fated love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and moving- unlike the previous instalments, most of the story line takes place on Earth; the romance is heated and intense; the characters are colorful, energetic and determined.

Leko by Cyndi Friberg.
Lunar Uprising Book 3.
Hating aliens is Julia’s family business. Can Leko reach beyond a lifetime of resentment and teach her that love knows no boundaries?
Leko, a powerful lunar raider, is working undercover in an anti-alien militia when he encounters Julia. Instantly he knows she is his mate, but he came to Earth to uncover a Morax plot, not succumb to bonding fever.
Julia knows there is something special about Leko. She has never reacted to anyone the way she reacts to him. Still, she refuses to consider the reason. Circumstances soon throw them together and force her to face the truth. The “man” she is falling in love with is an alien, and her father is not what he seems.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read In one sitting. Just couldn't put it down. 5*.
