Another work of art from the amazing author that is Rachel Lynn Solomon!

I absolutely loved SEE YOU YESTERDAY so freaking much. My love knows absolutely no bounds when it comes to this book.

The time loop just made this already endearing story even better. I loved how it played out and how Barrett and Miles interacted during the entire book! The banter was top-notch, we already know RLS is the queen of banter. The forced proximity was EVERYTHING TO ME!! I just loved the endless possibilities of their days and all the things they got up to!

I genuinely laughed and got emotional while reading. My heart was so full of love for all the characters we got to meet and spend time with! Barrett and Miles were just so relatable with their vulnerability and worries.

This just solidified the need for more books set on college campuses!!

Barrett Bloom has really been looking forward to college. Her last year in high school was rough after an expose she wrote for their newspaper exposed a scandal involving the very popular tennis team. Needless to say, her peers were not kind in the aftermath. Barrett is craving a fresh start and a new opportunity for journalism at the college paper.

Unfortunately, September 21st, Barrett's first official day of college is an absolute disaster.

First, she gets an unexpected roommate who just so happens to be her high school nemesis. Then she gets embarrassed by another student, some cute jerk, in her Physics 101 class. Next, she flops her interview for the newspaper. If she thought things couldn't get worse however, she was wrong as that evening she sets fire to a fraternity house.

Finally, topping the day off, her roommate locks her out of her dorm room forcing Barrett to sleep on a couch in the dorm common room. Barrett is horrified, mortified and mystified. This was not how she envisioned her first day going. She still hasn't chalked it up as a complete loss. There's a lot of the school year left. She can turn this thing around, right? She can. It's fine.

The next morning, Barrett is surprised when she wakes up in her bed and gets introduced to her new, ex-high school nemesis roommate...again!! What the heck is going on here?! Checking the date, Barrett is floored. It is September 21st; the most horrible day she just lived through mere hours ago.

The stream of events from the day prior are happening just as she knows they will. This time though, after her confrontation with the jerk from Physics 101, Barrett finds out he has been stuck in a time loop as well. For months.

She's scared, I mean obviously this would be terrifying, but Barrett is comforted a bit by the fact she now has someone she can talk to about it. Even if it's Miles. Frankly, he can be infuriating. Over time though, as the two work together to try to solve their predicament, they begin to soften towards one another.

Y'all. Y'all, y'all, y'all. Rachel Lynn Solomon is a gift to the world. This one seals the deal. How the heck is she doing this?! She's cranking out book after book, like it's nothing and they're all unique, heart-warming, thought-provoking, funny, relatable and swoon-worthy. I am in absolute awe.

See You Yesterday was completely engaging from the very start. Barrett is such a likable character. She's been through some things and she not shy about working through them with the Reader. I liked how relatable she was. I think a lot of us have probably been through similar things and taken similar blows to the ego that Barrett has. It helped me to connect with her and ultimately to become fully invested in her journey.

Additionally, Miles was such a fantastic love interest. He was smart, funny and quite interesting. He also wasn't scared to be vulnerable around Barrett. I'll admit to swooning over him a bit. Their banter back in forth gave me life while I was reading this. I loved them as a pair. The perfect mix or personality characteristics. It was super sweet.

The nerdy time loop vibes were such a welcome change of pace for a YA Romantic Comedy. I need more of this. Rachel Lynn Solomon is an absolute go-to author for me. She can do no wrong in my eyes. If you haven't read any of her work yet, this would be a great place to start. I feel like it's a perfect example of her style.

Thank you to the publisher, Simon Schuster Books for Young Readers, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I absolutely adored this and cannot wait for more from RLS!!

Thank you to Rachel Lynn Solomon and Simon & Schuster for providing me with an eARC in exchange from my honest review.

This book was so sweet and special. I was really going into it about the Groundhog's Day aspect because books with time loops can tend to be repetitive, but this was done so well and didn't feel that way at all.

Barrett and Miles are stuck in a time loop, reliving their first day of college. Rachel Lynn Solomon did a great job at making every day of their loop different enough where none of it felt repetitive. While, of course, some parts felt repetitive, there was enough variation in the repeat day that it didn't bother me.

The Jewish representation in this book was so special and quite possibly one of RLS's best, which is saying something. Not a spoiler, but the impromptu Shabbat scene warmed my heart so much. Both the main character and the love interest were Jewish, the main character was plus-size, and the love interest was Japanese American. I always applaud RLS for her representation and how careful and considerate she is with it.

"See You Yesterday" is definitely a slow burn, and at times it felt a little too slow for me, but I loved seeing how Barrett and Miles' friendship and relationship progressed over time.

There's just something about time travel books that always hit and this was no different! I LOVED the time loop situation and the chemistry between the two main characters was honestly amazing! I loved the banter and the way they played off each other so well! It was an interesting mix of finding yourself and also finding your soulmate and also just living life like there's no tomorrow! I was laughing and also so stressed near the end and overall, my heart is full and giving me all the fuzzy feelings that I wanted in this story! It was incredibly relatable at times when the characters talked about being scared of change or confronted their worries about life.

Of course, my favorite part was the inevitable romance. The dynamic was unmatched and I loved each of their humors. I especially loved seeing Barrett see Miles' face light up when he was being passionate. The little things like his different smiles or the way she tried to make him laugh just made my heart warm!

I would highly recommend this and I'll be running on this happy high all day!

This is an utterly enthralling and riveting time loop romance of Barrett and Miles. It was so difficult to put this book down once I started reading it. Barrett and Miles are stuck on September 21st in a time loop and cannot figure out a way to get out of it. As they attempt to fix their timeline and get out of the loop they start falling for each other. It is a slow burn and adorable YA romance. I would definitely recommend this book and warn you to ready to fall in love with Barrett and Miles.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review*

Groundhog Day plots (in my opinion) are very hard to pull off but Rachel Lynn Solomon went above and beyond with this one. I loved how witty and charming Barrett was in contrast to Miles being nerdy and sweet. Their story was so heartwarming and endearing to watch unfold. Not to mention this book included one of my all time favorite tropes: FORCED PROXIMITY! I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy of this one!

Another amazing Jewish Y A novel from the one & only, incomparable, Rachel Lynn Solomon. See You Yesterday adds the interesting component of time-travel to the romance between Barrett & Miles. SYY is full of so much heart, as only Solomon can do while being consistently relatable and filling my heart with so much joy. I am forever grateful that RLS continues to write multiple books a year so that I never have to be without one for too long!

Thank you to Simon Teen for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I am a big fan of Rachel Lynn Solomon. Every book that I have read by her has been super cute. And this one was so flipping cute. Also this was such a good YA romance book. The writing was really good, the plot was cute, and it was such a goo read. For real read this book now.

LOVE this book! I was excited to find out this was NOT a sequel to Today Tomorrow Yesterday (Still haven’t read that one but hopefully soon - I guess the matching covers confused me) & I finished it so quickly! It was so fun & adventurous and I loved the time-loop/groundhog day type plot! While her first day of college was repeated again & again, there were so many differences in each day & I loved seeing the various outcomes! This was my first Rachel Lynn Solomon book & I can’t wait to read more!

Thank you to @netgalley & @simonandschuster for this ARC!

I might love Rachel Lynn Solomon's YA novels more than her adult ones, which is saying something because 1 - I never prefer YA, and 2 - I really, really love her adult novels. And that a time-loop book would make me come to this conclusion? Unprecedented!!!

Everything about this book was so delightful, so sincere - Barrett sounds 18 and acts 18 and thinks 18, and it never feels like an adult condescending to a teen audience. She and sweet Miles are such a wonderful pair, and even though I skipped the bits that tried to explain the science (it stresses me out), I had such a nice time reading this book. Solomon really excels at layering in representation that doesn't feel too hammer-y or like it's got something to prove because her characters never have something to prove: they're just themselves, flawed and complex and imperfect and beloved. The whole book feels tender and careful and joyful in the midst of a setup that should be (and is) so fraught. The scene where Barrett and Miles help her mother's partner propose to her should go in a hall of fame of perfect scenes - a moment of total love and happiness after days and weeks and months of difficulties that was a stroke of genius.

Solomon continues to knock it out of the park. Incredible.

Amazing stories with complex characters. I liked the whole groundhog day type of having to reso the say over again. This was 4 stars for me. I just needed more in middle of story

A young adult / new adult novel, this is a delightful story using the "Groundhog Day" trope. It's a romance but also so much more. Main character Barrett is brave, quirky, and determined to conquer college - to make up for being a social pariah in high school. I was cheering her on as she tried to bond with a high school nemesis, figure out who she wanted to be in college, and separate from her mom (who's also her best friend).

Miles is stuck in the loop with her, and at first they barely tolerate each other. Miles is a dream - kind, nerdy, and also quirky but in a different way. He's really well fleshed out and I loved seeing both characters figure who they wanted to be - including the romance.

Clearly, I loved this one. It most likely will be on my top ten of the year list. If you like YA / NA, the movie "Groundhog Day," or Jewish representation - then pick this one up. Thank you to Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division for the advanced e-copy.

A common writing exercise is to rewrite the same exact scene several times, each from a different viewpoint. By flipping the POV character, the writer is forced to look at the world through a different lens. To pick out the details that would otherwise go unnoticed. In Rachel Lynn Solomon's latest YA romance, we have a variation on this theme. The viewpoint character, Barrett Bloom, does not change. Instead, she relives her first day of college over and over in a time loop, taking the reader deeper and deeper into the story.

Now, as far as first days go, Barrett's is a total disaster. I literally sobbed in relief when I realized this quirky, sarcastic, lovable freshman was about to get a second chance. Especially when it is revealed that the only other person stuck in time is Miles - a physics student who instantly won me over with his science puns. (The same can't be said for him and Barrett. This is definitely not a story of love at first sight).</p>

As Miles and Barrett try to find a solution to their time loop dilemma by researching in the library (Miles's idea) and living life to its fullest (Barrett's idea) we learn more about Barrett's past and why college is so crucial to her. I won't spoil it, but if you are like me and have a difficult time processing sex being used as a weapon to shame women - there may be a few pages you want to skip. Solomon handles this plot point deftly and the story feels both real and raw.

Miles, on the other hand, turns out to be much more than just a physics nerd (although let's face it, that is my favorite about him). He is the son of a physics professor and a Jewish studies professor and is fiercely proud of both parts of his heritage. In fact, he finds a way for Barrett to celebrate Shabbat despite the fact that they are perpetually stuck repeating a weekday. Perhaps in the most Jewish thing ever, the Shabbat scene is a pivotal moment in Miles and Barrett's relationship.

The banter between Miles and Barrett is glorious, but my favorite part about their relationship is the fact that Solomon has allowed her characters to have realistic bodies. Barrett navigates some insecurity surrounding her weight and Miles has ears that take some time to love. But it doesn't matter. Because time is literally unlimited for these two.

As usual, the book is a masterclass in craft. It not only shows the development of romance over time, it also spirals down into every single nook, cranny, character and plot point that occurred in this one single day and milks them for they are worth. There is no stone left un-turned, no relationship unexamined, and in a delightful moment - no puppy left un-adopted. My heart was bursting and my smile wide when I clicked through to the last page (at one am, because I couldn't go to sleep until I finished).

Note: I received an e-arc from the author because she was kindly allowing Jewish reviewers to request them through her social media

RLS is an autobuy author. I was a little nervous at first because of the time jump plot, but i thought it was so well done! It was really cute and i am sad i read it so quickly. This book is a must add to your tbr!

Rachel Lynn Solomon is easily one of my favorite authors. I will read anything she publishes. See You Yesterday was amazing and I enjoyed every second I spent reading it. Let me start with Barret and Miles. I adored both of them and I loved how their relationship develops over the course of the story. Both Barret and Miles find themselves stuck in a time loop and developed a cute romance. I loved everything about this story I literally read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I already own a physical copy and I am so happy its in my collection. Thank you so much Netgalley. Words cannot express how fortunate I felt receiving an early copy.

I am not typically a fan of time warp or groundhog day stories, but if anyone can write one that I would find interesting it is Rachel Lynn Solomon and she did just that in See You Yesterday.

This story follows college students Barrett and Miles as they are trapped in a groundhog day situation of reliving the same day over and over again. Barrett's first attempt at this day was an awful experience which ended with her accidentally starting a fire at a party. Thankfully (I think) she gets a chance to redo the day and finds that fellow student Miles, whom she meets in her physics class, is also stuck reliving the day over and over. She and Miles end up working together to try to find a way out of this loop and find more than just friendship with each other along the way.

While at first I wasn't sure what to think of Barrett as she is a wild whirl-wind of a character, her quirks grew on me and I was definitely rooting for her throughout the book. Mile is such a great hero. I loved so many things about him and the way her interacted and worked with Barrett. I loved the romance aspect to this story and banter and adventures these two shared. This book was such a beautifully character driven book that it didn't bother me that they were in a time loop (which I am not a huge fan of).

Rachel always writes the best characters with real struggles and real issues and this book is no exception. I loved Barrett and Miles and would definitely recommend checking out this fantastic YA read.

Thank you to Rachel Lynn Solomon and Simon Teen for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait for what Rachel writes next!

See You Yesterday Review

Happy Publication Week to See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Thank you @ Simon & Schuster for my eARC copy of See You Yesterday.

What is this book about?:

See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon follows Barrett Bloom, who is hoping college will be a fresh start after a messy high school experience. But when school begins on September 21st, everything goes wrong. She’s humiliated by the know-it-all in her physics class, she botches her interview for the college paper, and at a party that night, she accidentally sets a frat on fire. She panics and flees, and when she realizes her roommate locked her out of their dorm, she falls asleep in the common room.

The next morning, Barrett’s finds herself back in her dorm room bed, no longer smelling of ashes and crushed dreams. It’s September 21st. Again. And after a confrontation with Miles, the guy from Physics 101, she learns that she’s not alone and that he’s been trapped for months.

As they work together to find a way out, they start falling for each other. But what will happen to their relationship if they finally find a way out and make it to tomorrow?

Overall Thoughts:

While See You Yesterday featured discussion and exploration of Judaism and different ways of being Jewish, explored interesting and complex family dynamics, featured well developed main and side characters, had an interesting plot surrounding time loops and travel time and was full of diversity as Barrett is a plus sized Jewish woman and Miles is a Jewish Japanese man and there are queer side characters, the book was way too slow at first and hard to get into. 3.5/5

Who would like this?:

Anyone who likes YA Jewish romances and/or romances about time loops.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: bullying, blood, panic attack, sexual harassment, anxiety attacks, mental health, body shaming, drug abuse, drug addiction, rehab

A massive thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers for sending me an e-ARC of Rachel Lynn Solomon's "See You Yesterday"!

Do you get déjà vu when she's with you?
Do you get déjà vu?

Honestly, telling me that Rachel Lynn Solomon has published another story is enough to get me to preorder it, ARC unread. However, when the plot is "Groundhog Day" with a college coming-of-age twist and a cute romance between a Jewish American fat girl and a Japanese Jewish boy, I embody the Philip Fry meme where he is forking over a huge stack of cash. I am equally glad to report that "See You Yesterday" is an insanely sweet, smart, and sassy addition to the Solomon backlist. If you enjoy contemporary teen fiction with a smattering of romance and/or sci-fi, then you needed to grab a copy of "See You Yesterday" like yesterday.
