Loved it! Can’t wait until the whole thing is out! Katee Robert once again kills it with her stories

I don’t know who at Sourcebooks created this teaser but they have to be a sadist. Part of the Dark Olympus series, this book is a retelling of Helen of Troy. There is an open position among the 13 leaders of Olympus, anyone can enter the trials and the winner gets the position and Helen as a bride. Helen has other ideas and enters the contest to escape the role she’s been playing her whole life. She finds herself facing Achilles and Patroclus among many other combatants. This teaser was only five chapters and has me prepared to get on my knees and beg for more. There’s deceit, drama, danger, flirting, and blisteringly hot sex just in the teaser. The wait for publication in June is going to be very, very hard.

Damn I-
I NEED TO READ AHEAD. The first 5 pages were so intriguing. They left us wanting for more 😭
So, I have not read Katee’s previous books although I have them in my TBR. But when I got an opportunity to try her out- I wasn’t disappointed.

You don’t need to read previous books necessarily as she has explained her world impeccably to us. Although it is recommended to read previous books- I am going to go and do that while I wait for this book to come

Katee Robert- Your writing is just mwah!

So this is in the genre I normally read, but I’ve seen this author’s name a lot so thought that a preview would be the perfect opportunity to check it out.
I also love alternative versions of fairytales, myths, and other classic stories so this appealed to me. And I did appreciate the Olympus characters in a “contemporary” setting.

If this were a contest for using the word “fuck” most often in a page. The would certainly win the gold medal. however, it was so overused that it started to become a joke, and distracted from the rest of the story. I couldn’t even focus on what was happening because I was too busy counting how many times the word was used on a page. Thus, thanks for the preview, I’ll skip the rest.

5 Stars ( I received an e-arc of the first few chapters from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)

I read this right after finishing Electric Idol, I loved it and hate that I can’t read the full novel. I have found that her MMF couple romances are some of my favourites, like The Beast is my top choice in her Wicked Villains series (still have to finish the last two). The dynamic is a bit different since the males are already an established couple and one of them has an old connection to Helen. This definitely is going to have a big focus on the politics of Olympus, more so than usual and it’s also the first book where we don’t have a main character from Demeter’s daughters. Everybody has so many connections to each other anyways. Helen is very intriguing to me, she is very bold, feminist and stubborn. But she also shows a bit of a soft side as well.

This was a great preview. In 5 chapters I was completely engaged and drawn in by the chemistry between these three characters. A fantastic continuation to this fascinating and very original series.

I really enjoyed this little preview and I will definitely be reading the rest of this when it comes out! I am already in love with Helen and her “slay my own dragons” attitude! I also can’t wait to see how this love triangle plays out! Enemies to throuple? I’m in! I love Katee’s writing. I don’t read too much erotica but I can’t not read hers! They are just too good!

Katee Robert has perfected writing a novel within a series with Dark Olympus and Wicked Beauty is no different. Read as a stand alone you receive enough information about this world to understand the premise of this story, while you don’t need to read the previous two they do stand to enhance the world building. These characters continue to surprise and enthrall me with every turn of the page! I can already tell within 5 chapters that as soon as I get my hands on this book I won’t put it down until it’s finished and I won’t stop thinking about it long after! A definite must read and I can’t wait to see where the rest of this series will lead!

I was so disappointed when I hit the end of this preview - it was SO good. I love the idea of using Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus for this installment. I can definitely see how anyone that loves the Dark Olympus series will also love this story, even if it is different slightly with a poly relationship. I thought this came out next month for some reason and now I'm devastated I have to wait until June! The small bit we get of Achillies' perspective about Helen - you just know the chemistry is going to be hot. Then the bit with Helen and Patroclus? HOT! AND THEN Patroclus and Achillies? Just 5 chapters in and already the stage has been set for this throuple and I am here for it! I feel the characters already have really good motives and backstory just in these first few chapters that I am very interested to delve deeper into the trials to be Ares.

5/5 for Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert

As the daughter of one Zeus and the sister of another, Helen Kasios life as never been her own. But now, she has the chance of a lifetime when one of the Thirteen, Ares, dies. Her plans of entering the tournament to become Ares and gaining her freedom is ruined when she BECOMES part of the prize. The one that wins the title...also wins her.

Achilles and Patroclus has built their way up to the inner circle. Born from nothing, they have worked hard and deceived many to gain their position. Now, they have the opportunity to gain more and become forever known. But Helen is the obstacle they did not account for, especially when their chemistry burns so much.

WOW. The five chapter preview was AMAZING. Helen is exactly the type of privileged I expect her to be, yet she is NOT naive. If anything, she is probably the most aware of her surroundings. Caliisto is one manipulative b...and I LOVE IT! My hate for the new Zeus has grown though, he honestly seems super selfish. I want Helen to betray him and establish herself on her own grounds, not as his sister. I haven't really been able to form a good opinion Achilles and Patroclus. They are definitely driven towards their goal, but I can't judge their character just yet. From what I have read, Achulles is a little reckless and Patroclus is more grounded, but a little soft.

Thank you for the preview!

Title: Wicked Beauty
Date Read: Feb 8, 2022
Rating: ? (so far 4 out of 5)

This is an ARC from Netgallery preview freebie. Which means I only have access to the first 5 chapters. Booooooooo. I need the full book. @katee_robert please grant me a full copy! ;)

Make sure to read books 1 & 2 before jumping to this one.

This is book 3 of the Dark Olympus series. It's a dark romance (erotic steamy mythological retelling) of Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Patroclus. First of all, thank you for the map in the beginning of the book. Many other authors can learn from this. This helps the readers to know what kind of world you are shaping. I listened to the audio of Neon Gods (book 1 of the series), I didn't have access to the map and kind of learned of the world while listen. With this map, it all makes sense in the contemporary world you have built. Thank you.

This world is done in a very loosely concept of Greek Mythology, please toss out ideas of what you know on the stories. Go in with for the ride and just enjoy. You will enjoy it so much more than trying to question. This retelling is just loosely based on the stories we know. Think of it as the names stay the same but the rest is all moving part.

I can tell this is going to be interesting because I'm seeing more elements of the Spartan Helen. This means she is going to be a warrior and I'm looking forward to that. I do tend to read a lot of nonfiction Spartan books, so I'm curious to where this is going to lead. I will not be upset if it doesn't follow the Spartan way. I will just enjoy the ride. I will be waiting to find out what happens once the book is released.

In this copy (kindle preview of first 5 chapters) there are just a few editing issues (less than 5 I have found). Extra spaces between a few words and/or sentence. I'm sure it will be all cleaned up before the releasing date.

Releasing June 7, 2022.

The modernization of the Greek Gods in such an authentic way to their story is new story concept for me. Instead of just giving a “re-telling”, Katee Robert keeps the characters and brings them to this century. The character development is amazing and the dynamic between the characters breathes life into the story. Helen’s strength is constantly doubted and she proves herself when doubted. She is a strong female lead who shows women that they can fight for the things that they want. Katee’s writing style leaves you always wanting for more. I am constantly telling myself “just one more chapter” until I end up finishing the whole preview in one setting. After reading the preview I cannot wait to read the full book when it is released!

I will be posting a review of the preview on my Instagram @libraryofhallie and on Goodreads!

This little preview of the book had me extremely excited to read the whole book. I have throughly enjoyed the books so far as it is an interesting take on the greek mythology I grew up learning about. I am a proud nerd and I loved Greco/Roman mythology and even won several regional awards in.

Needless to say, one of my favorite books is the Illiad by Homer which features Helen, Achilles and Patrolocus. This is an interesting take on the three well known characters. I like the fact that this Helen has depth, she's not just the pretty face that launched 1,000 ships. Shipping her with Achilles and Patrolocus is interesting also because in the Illiad they were opposite sides of the Trojan War. I am very curious to see how Katee Robert will take this book.

Unfortunately, this series is just not for me! I am not very familiar with mythology and this series leans heavily into it. I feel like it jumps right into the story without the character building I need to care.
