Wicked Beauty was such a good read. Katee Robert know how to write a book that keeps you wanting to read, I could not put this book down till it was finished. I would love to read more books from her.

What an awesome beginning!!! We were introduced to Helen in Electrical Idol, but Achilles and Patroclus are new to the series. Helen, in EI, is a bit of party girl, but there are hidden depths to her. In Wicked Beauty, she is ready to take on new challenges and shed her image as a pretty face with no substance. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her, Zeus, her brother, has decided to make her pretty face the prize in a contest that will decide the next Ares. She pulls a Brave and enters the ring to become the next Ares.

The setup in just the first few chapters is a lot of information, but the plot setup is there. Achilles and Patroclus are an established couple, and they appear happy, but there are inklings that the relationship is uneven, with Patroclus doing a lot of the work. I don't know about the rest of you but it's going to take a lot work for me to not think of this as a Song of Achilles AU 😳🙈

I'm excited to read the rest of this book.

I am not a huge fan of the romance trope of a throuple, honestly. That is not this author's fault, and I still loved the book anyway. There were definitely a few slow parts and an odd end here and there, but all in all I recommend it.

VERDICT Robert (Neon Gods) keeps readers’ attention by ramping up the tension among Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus as the competition’s trials take place, interspersed with lots of erotic scenes. Although the worldbuilding is vague and Achilles’s overconfidence can be off-putting, many readers will enjoy this continuation of the “Dark Olympus” series.

I cannot get enough of this world -- I devoured the sampler and cannot wait for the rest of the book. There is a special place in my heart for Greek retellings and this author always puts the perfect steamy twist on them. Across the board satisfied - I cannot wait.

I have read the first two Dark Olympus books by Katee Robert, and I loved them, so I was very excited to get a 5 chapter preview of her newest book from Net Galley. The first five chapters of this book did not disappoint. I am not typically a person that likes Greek mythology, so I was hesitant to start this series, but it was a pleasant break from the contemporary new adult romance books I have been reading. This preview has a ~steamy~ scene in it, and anyone who reads LGBT romance will like this. I am left wondering how it will end up and if there is going to be a reverse harem relationship. I can't wait to get a full copy of this book!

Although only a few chapters this is already shaping up to be another amazing tale by Katee Robert. I can't wait for my copy to arrive so I can finish it!

I was lucky enough to be sent a sampler for Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert. The third novel in her Dark Olympus series, Wicked Beauty is being marketed as a polyamorous retelling of Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Patroclus. As the sampler contained only the first five chapters, my review will be over such and less comprehensive than normal. I’ve read Robert’s other Dark Olympus novels, Neon Gods and Electric Idols, but will chose to review Wicked Beauty as its own standalone novel for now.

We roughly get to meet our three main characters at a party, where Helen plans to rebel against the socialite/political pawn role placed upon her. To do so, she plans to enter a tournament where winner is crowned Ares, a position that would give her her own power for the first time in her life. However, without her knowledge or consent, Helen is named a prize for the winner— the to-be bride of Ares. This temporarily throws a wrench in her plans, but Helen is not a damsel. Angered further by her lack of options, she goes through with her plan secretly, until her brother cannot remove her from the tournament.

Catching her is Patroclus, her fellow contestant and boyfriend to Achilles, one of the expected frontrunners in the tournament. More comfortable as a spy and gathering information, Patroclus is at first a surprising competitor for Ares. In a second twist within as many chapters, it is revealed that he intends to enter solely to team up with his boyfriend to achieve Achilles’s victory. During his first act of help, Patroclus discovers Helen’s plan and the reader then finds out another connection— this one between him and Helen born from a childhood friendship.

Achilles, the third point in this triangle, is the character I am most apprehensive of based upon what I have read. His secrets and motivations seem straightforward enough, which in and of itself is suspicious. Whereas Helen and Patroclus have already marked themselves as more than their historical base, Achilles appears to be a simple adaption who is doomed to meet his original fate.

The sampler sent out does little more than introduce the base plot and characters to the reader, similar to a well-edited movie trailer. Wicked Beauty leaves me curious and intrigued how Robert will acknowledge but reinvent these Greek myths for a modern audience. Already I have the full novel pre-ordered and a list of questions I cannot wait to answer come publication.

**I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

This series is super fun - not so strong on the plot aspects, but overall the vibes are great. I do like the Greek mythology setting, but these are definitely not retellings.

I knew starting the first five chapters was going to leave me incomplete, anxious and excited for what’s to come, However I shall deal with the consequences of my eager actions and count the days for the book to release!
In a typical Katee Fashion the author kicks it off with an alluring plot that’ll leave you needing more. So be warned, as we still have a few months until the book comes out, of which I have high hopes for being yet another sexy, seductive & dazzling story.

If the man of your dreams teasing you so badly that it hurts were a book, this would be it.

I knew what I was in for a world of delicious hurt by reading the first five chapters of Wicked Beauty, but I did it anyway. Why? Because the preview to Helen's story was so worth it. It gave us enough to experience the wonderful world Katee Robert has built in her Dark Olympus series and to get invested in Helen, Patroclus, and Achilles, but it also left us aching for more.

The countdown to Wicked Beauty has begun, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book.

I have enjoyed this series and this book so far is no exception. I like the world the author has created using Greek mythology but made it modern. I will definitely read whatever the author puts out and I can't wait to finish this story.

This preview is amazing! The glimpses we got of the main characters were intruguing and in true fashion of Katee Robert stories so far. I can't wait to see how it all plays out and what she has in store for them!

Review for Chapters 1-5:

And.... Already I am HOOKED. I need the rest of this book yesterday. I love how Katee Robert writes each character with an Olympus Persona vs. their true self and it's so fun to read how this all plays out. Emotions experienced in just 5 chapters range from: Impressed, hot and bothered, livid with the wrath of a million suns, reserved to stomach and understand said wrath, "Be a BOSS", to hot and bothered with the heat of a billion suns.

Now that we've discussed that. I am rooting for Helen ten fold. The love between Patroclus and Achilles it going to be a refreshing setting and I am so here to see how Helen is going to add into that mix from her challenging persona and confidence in herself.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this abbreviated ARC!

I love and hate previews. They give me what I want, but not ENOUGH of what I want. This just made me SO MUCH MORE EXCITED FOR THE BOOK! And now I am impatiently waiting.
