This was fantastic! I can’t wait to read the full book! I loved Helen in electric idol and can’t wait to learn more about her

I'm definitely intrigued by this premise, especially the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus and how it will play out with Helen. However, I'm struggling with the worldbuilding and character building in this excerpt, which are so spelled out that I don't feel as if I can relate to the characters. It's just hard hits and action and not a moment to really contemplate who these people are and why I should care about them.
In addition, while I like that Robert always marks the race of her characters, I wish she would vary her language a little bit, especially when she introduces seven white people in a row... It begins to feel very performative rather than a way of accurately depicting the characters, as if she is taking the easiest possible way to show what her world is like. Racially coded features are not offensive, though of course it takes research to learn best practices for describing them, and it felt like once again, the author didn't take the time to work out her idea on the page.

Perfect little teaser. I’ve been wanting to read Katee Roberts’ Dark Olympus series for a while now and this got me excited to move it up on my tbr in anticipation for the release of Wicked Beauty in June!

I loved the first 2 books in this series so when I saw the first 5 chapters available I jumped on them and I’m very happy I did.
The dynamic between Achilles and Patroclus is very interesting and I can’t wait to see more and learn more about their relationship. When we met Helen in Electric Idol I could tell I was gonna love her and I do, I love how strong and witty she is as a character and how easily she was able to get under Patroclus’s skin was very impressive and I can’t wait to see how this progresses further.
This book did start in a pretty similar way to Neon Gods but I didn’t mind it too much as it is going in a very different direction overall. The Ares Trials sound interesting, especially the fact basically anyone and everyone can compete in them. I'm guessing this will lead to some new characters maybe for future books to be introduced.
Overall I thought these were a very solid first 5 chapters and I can’t wait to read the rest when I get my full copy on release day.

This book blew me away! I was unable to but it down. Perfect, dazzlingly, very well written. The details the author described throughout the book was so amazing. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.

Thank you so much for this preview!!! I've read Neon Gods and Electric Idol is next on my list but somehow reading these few chapters makes me feel a part of the series while still feeling like I could read it separately as well. Excited for this one to come out.

Katee Robert is always one of my instant buy authors, and this is no exception. The woman entering to earn her own hand instead of letting fate do as it will? Sign me up. The first 5 chapters have me BURNING for the rest.

This first five chapters were FIRE!
I know this book will be amazing because so much is happening since the beginning, we get 3 POVs, I’m really excited to see how Helen, Achilles and Patroclus dynamics gonna be, waiting until June is gonna be so long!

I have been heard a lots good things about Katee Rober's Dark Olympus. Now I have read the first several chapters of the 3rd book make me want them all.
love it love it. I am gonna start the first one right now.

Previews are always a bad idea. The writing is phenomenal as always, and the continuation of the series is better than ever. I loved the descriptiveness, and especially the tenacity of Helen. I love that she isn’t taking her newfound situation lying down, and I can’t wait to see what comes of it.

This was definitely gearing up to be a very steamy read!
If the rest of the book is anything like the first five chapters, it will be an exhilarating story.

I had just started this when I got approved for the full version! Which thank goodness for that because this was awesome! Can't wait to start the full book!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

I haven't read any in this series yet but I see a TON of great reviews for them! Thank you for the chance to preview the story! I think this will be a great and powerful story. The characters we have met so far seem strong in their own ways. I'm excited to read this and will likely go back and read the others as well (lol)

Love this little teaser and truly can't wait until the full book is released! Katee Robert definitely has a way with words and this is one of my most highly anticipated books of the year!

***This is a review for a 5 chapter PREVIEW***
For those that have enjoyed Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series (Neon Gods and Electric Idol), prepared to be engaged once again with the newest quick-paced, character driven installment. In Wicked Beauty, Helen Kasios is our strong female protagonist who decides to enter her name in a competition to win the title of Ares (one of the coveted Thirteen). Already eyeing her competition, Achilles and Patroclus will easily be the love interest(s) preventing her/helping her? to achieve this title. I cannot speak to the authenticity of this mythological retelling, but Robert has a flair for the dramatic and creative world-building that is present once again in Wicked Beauty. And just from this preview alone, there will definitely be spicy scenes and intense family and relationship drama that plays into the story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to continue with the Dark Olympus series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this free preview in exchange for an honest review.

This story of Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus promises enormous fiery passion in the gothic style of writing I’ve come to expect from Katee Robert. The world she has created using Greek mythology delivers on creativity and invites the reader to immerse themselves in it. This preview drew me into the story and even though it is not my typical trope of interest, I am now anxious to read the rest of the book. Is it June yet?
I received a preview of this ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the preview! #WickedBeauty #NetGalley #SourcebooksCasablanca
I had the chance to read the first five chapters of this book and I'm already intrigued, can't wait to continue. The POVs are Helen, Achilles and Patroclus, all interesting characters. The storytelling is fluid and promises steamy goodness.
Would definitely recommend to fans of Greek mythology retellings with a generous amount of spice.

I've been wanting to read Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series for a while now, and when I saw that a preview of Wicked Beauty was available here I thought it would be the perfect way to dip my toe in the water. I really enjoyed the preview. So far I'm intrigued by the dynamic between Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus; I really like how they all have very different relationships with each other, I'm sensing a childhood friends to lovers trope between Helen and Patroclus, an enemies to lovers trope between Helen and Achilles, and whatever the fuck is going on between Achilles and Patroclus. I'm also curious to see how the competition for Ares goes. Speaking of which, I found her world building to be quite confusing, I was under the impression that this was a standalone but it's a bit difficult to follow. I'm going to go in order to try and understand what's happening better, but I'm still very excited to read this series. Side note - I need a book on Zeus and Hera ASAP! I NEED to know what's going on with them.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc!
Even though this was only five chapters, I'm very intrigued in where the story is going. I have read multiple retellings of The Trojan War (most notably The Song of Achilles) and I feel like this is a very unique spin on the myth. This is the second book I've read in the Dark Olympus series (the first being Neon Gods) and I felt that the world is definitely being expanded on in a way where I am intrigued to both continue the series and go back and read Electric Idol. Will definitely be picking this up in June!

So much tension! I literally can't wait for this book to come out! The I love the characters that have been introduced so far! I'm so ready to see how the trails to decide who the next Ares are going to go down!
