I liked this sampler because it lets me pretend that Patrochilles never died and they both instead went on to grow older, gayer, and sexier. I can't say I care for Helen just yet -
I find Callisto to be much more interesting and I hope there will be a book about her and Perseus eventually. But anyway, this was a nice taste, and I'm impatiently waiting for the rest of this book.

This book preview was very interesting and it made me want to read more of it. It is a definite check out to read and was paced well with an interesting plot and characters.

I have read both Neon Gods and Electric Idol and they both were very intriguing and intricate plots. Having just read the first five chapters of Wicked Beauty I must say Katee Robert has me hooked and I cannot wait to find out what else is in stored for Achilles, Pactroclus and Helen.

I love a Greek mythology retelling.
Wicked Beauty is dazzling, sexy, and everything I didn't know I needed in this world.

An inventive retelling of the Greek pantheon, reimagining characters and traits from the original stories in inventive ways. I love the world created in this series, and this installment promises to be nothing less brilliant than it's predecessors: fast paced, steamy, and with enough drama to allow it to be devoured in a single go.

I loved this preview it makes me so excited to read the full book. It gives me slight Disney’s brave vibes and I’m loving it. It’s the first time when Demeter daughters aren’t the main character and I’m so excited to see more of what’s going to go down.

I’m not sure if I can put my finger on what is different about Wicked Beauty. I loved Electric Idol, I enjoyed Neon Gods, but I loved Electric Idol. I had high expectations for Wicked Beauty (which can be part of the problem) but, this preview unfortunately just didn’t quite hit the notes I was hoping for.

Maybe it’s the three perspectives, too much jumping to allow me to develop emotional connection with characters. Maybe I needed more time with the characters to settle which lead to the spice feeling too premature for me. The contest and how Helen fit into it just didn’t make sense to me either. Ultimately, this story just isn’t clicking.

I will mention that it started it on a high note. I was so darn pleased that we ran into Eros when we were introduced to Helen’s character. It felt like a mini check-in with Eros. I love Eros with all my heart and starting us out of the gate with a wonderful interaction between Helen and him was perfect. It was a great way to bridge us over to a new character and officially hand off the baton.

At the end of the day, I ran into a quote after a few chapters of not being able to connect with our three main new protagonists that seemed to resonate with how I was feeling about character decisions and the plot devices: “Patroclus sighs. “Why are you doing this?”

Also. I’m not sure if I missed it, but what happened to Hercules? Everyone seems very concerned.

I will be picking up a copy and reading this when it comes out. I may just need more time with the story and I really very much enjoy this universe. This episode just may not be for me.

I can not wait for this book! Katee is at it again with an amazing greek retelling. So far this is going to be another 5-star read. I'm dying to know what happens to Helen during the competition!

I enjoyed reading Helen’s story, she was a strong female and I liked that she went her own way. There was plenty of spice, I don’t typically go for MMF however this did not disappoint. I did not read the first two books however that didn’t seem to get in the way of my enjoyment for this one.

What an awesome beginning!!! We were introduced to Helen in Electrical Idol, but Achilles and Patroclus are new to the series. Helen, in EI, is a bit of party girl, but there are hidden depths to her. In Wicked Beauty, she is ready to take on new challenges and shed her image as a pretty face with no substance. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her, Zeus, her brother, has decided to make her pretty face the prize in a contest that will decide the next Ares. She pulls a Brave and enters the ring to become the next Ares.

The setup in just the first few chapters is a lot of information, but the plot setup is there. Achilles and Patroclus are an established couple, and they appear happy, but there are inklings that the relationship is uneven, with Patroclus doing a lot of the work. I don't know about the rest of you but it's going to take a lot work for me to not think of this as a Song of Achilles AU 😳🙈

I'm excited to read the rest of this book.

I am not a huge fan of the romance trope of a throuple, honestly. That is not this author's fault, and I still loved the book anyway. There were definitely a few slow parts and an odd end here and there, but all in all I recommend it.

VERDICT Robert (Neon Gods) keeps readers’ attention by ramping up the tension among Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus as the competition’s trials take place, interspersed with lots of erotic scenes. Although the worldbuilding is vague and Achilles’s overconfidence can be off-putting, many readers will enjoy this continuation of the “Dark Olympus” series.

I cannot get enough of this world -- I devoured the sampler and cannot wait for the rest of the book. There is a special place in my heart for Greek retellings and this author always puts the perfect steamy twist on them. Across the board satisfied - I cannot wait.
