I found this a very engaging story and am looking forward to reading the earlier books in the series. It was much lighter in tone than I expected, with little of the brutality of realistic Viking life depicted. The Vikings use modern language and understand American terms which bothered me a bit, but on the other hand it did make the book easier to read than if the speech patterns had been historically accurate - so on balance I’m okay with that. It is an easy read, with no angst or dark themes and some really great, relatable characters. I was gripped by the story and read it all in one go.
