I adored the final installment in Lovelace's poetry series. As always, her writing is powerful and haunting, her poems touch on so many important and relatable subjects.
Hearing Lovelace narrate this book made the book even more powerful. I definitely recommend taking the opportunity to experience the poems in spoken word format.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

Amanda Lovelace has a fantastic way of curating words that cause you to stop, ponder and question the way you think about the world and your life. We are given so many ideas as young girls and I have found her words help to unravel the way I think about myself and the female experience in life with regards to love, friendship and the stories we tell ourselves.

This book, in one word, is "empowerment". It deals with so many important, heartbreaking, soul-shattering themes - but in a way that feels like a hug. I think every single reader would find themselves in one - or more - part of this book, which makes Lovelace's writing that much more magical.
It doesn't matter if you've been through the things the author talks about in this collection; you will feel the pain, the confidence, the beauty of it all.
I was having a horrid day before reading this book, and while no book can change your circumstances, the words in them can ease your pain and your doubt. Which is exactly what unlock your storybook heart did for me. It felt like a caress and I am going to buy my own physical copy asap so I can experience its soothing words again and again.

Easily one of my favourite poetry collections. Lovelace did it again, writing a beautiful book that will resonate with millions, and its hopeful messages will uplift all the readers.

All the stars.

I am yet write a proper review for this tiny book of poems. Will be posting a review on my blog Instagram, fb as well as Twitter. But for now, what a book! Lovelace laces around love in her poems! She is strong and assertive throughout. There was so much conviction to these poems. Empowering is the right word! Also, also, I never wanted it to end. Even though it's a part of the series you can still listen to it.

I really enjoyed this poetry collection. Lovelace touches on themes in the beginning of the book that I really connected with like setting expectations for yourself that are impossible to look up to. She also discusses developing a healthier relationship to one’s body, which I think many women can relate to in some way. Finally, part 2 of the collection is mostly about finding a healthy romantic relationship. I appreciated the discussion of gender that Lovelace included in this section.

I never know how to rate poetry because I feel like I haven’t read enough to be able to give any real critique. However, this is probably my favourite poetry book I've read by far. Most of the poems were relatable (though not groundbreaking; they were all things we’ve heard before). I really liked the audiobook. Amanda has a very soothing voice. I didn’t feel like speeding it as I do with most books.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to listen to the audiobook before the release date.

Remember to check tw!

“Sometimes just living is enough.”

Amanda Lovelace is really a hit of miss for me but i really enjoy this collection of poems, the “storyline” really hit something in me this time.

This book is not for everyone but if you need some kind of comfort and someone who tells you that you are not wrong and that what you do isn’t a complete mistake, this is definitely for you.

Plus the audiobook is amazing, i loved it!

"I wonder what my life would have been like if there had been girls like me in the fairy tales I read growing up"

This final installment in Amanda Lovelace's You Are Your Own Fairy Tale series is inspired by Beauty and the Beast, and is focusing on topics of perfectionism, self-love, and living outside of society's expectations.

"it's a curious thing, isn't it,
how an artist can turn their hurt into
something so stunning that
it has the power to save strangers,
but it doesn't have the power
to save the artist themselves?"

Will there ever be a more magical phenomenon than a case of Right Book, Right Time? I don't think so.

I've been along for the ride for all of lovelace's releases, with a couple of them having reached far into my soul to rearrange a few things. This last installment of You Are Your Own Fairy Tale has firmly joined those titles than I feel the most connected to.

I had to pause multiple times to put this down and walk it out. I find so much kinship and sisterhood in lovelace's words, and this one didn't pull it's punches.

It is so magical to feel seen and heard in a perfect stranger's words. To feel validated and respected and understood.

I can't wait to add this one to my shelves and to see what else Lovelace brings to the table.

The audiobook is narrated by the author herself, and there clearly was no one better to perform this piece than the person who brought it into existence.

I like Amanda Lovelace's poetry. I find it soothing to read and listen to. It encourages me to heal and self love. I really enjoyed the audiobook. I was lucky enough to get approved for the e-galley and audiobook through NetGalley, so I read along while listening. I just love to hear how the poet reads their poems. It is a great reading experience.

Unlock your storybook heart is the last book in Amanda Lovelace’s “You Are Your Own Fairytale” series, and it’s mainly about being lost in perfectionism, missing out on life, and trying to fall in love with all the little everyday things again. I listened to it on audio, which is narrated by Amanda Lovelace themself, and it really enhanced my experience. I love listening to audiobooks when they’re narrated by the author – it makes it so immersive and much more impactful. (If I’m not mistaken though, the ebook and physical book have illustrations, so I’m definitely going to read it in that format at some point in the future.) The writing style is very simple, which doesn’t always work for me, but the way it’s narrated makes me feel almost like a friend is telling me a story, which is lovely. The poems resonated with me so much and I’m already aching to read it again. I think it’s something almost everyone is going to relate to because many of us get lost in the cycle of productivity and our quest after perfectionism, and we forget to see the life and beauty around us.

If you don’t like short and really simple poems, it might not be for you. However, if you do and you’re looking for poetry that is going to help you see your worth and the life around you a little differently, I highly recommend this.

Format: audiobook
Author: Amanda Lovelace ~ Title: Shine Your Icy Crown ~ Narrator: Amanda Lovelace
Content: 4 stars ~ Narration: 5 stars

I listened to poetry collections by Amanda Lovelace before. The first was Flower Crowns & Fearsome Things, which I think was very good. Unlock Your Storyheart Book is part of the collection You Are Your Own Fairytale. I listened to all three audiobooks. You can listen to these audiobooks in any order you choose. Or even listen to just one and you will be able to enjoy it without the feeling you are missing something. Make sure you listen to trigger warnings at the beginning of this audiobook.

Unlock Your Storyheart Book is a collection of mostly short poems inspired by various fairytales, but mostly by Beauty And The Beast. I liked the music at the beginning and the end. I liked the poetry and the general idea. But again, as with others from this collection, sometimes it all sounded more like a self-help book than poetry. I think this was my favourite of all three.

Amanda Lovelace is also the narrator of her poetry book and I liked that. She did an excellent job, as always.

Thanks to Andrews McMeel Audio for the ALC and this opportunity! This is a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

This was a good conclusion to the poetry trilogy. I had so much fun with the entire series but the thrid and final book didn't hit as hard as the rest.

Back when I used to be obsessed with Tumblr and the book account on there, I remember following this beautiful book account by the name of LadyBookMad. Man, were her photos stunning! Aesthetic to the max, and one of the reasons why I started a book profile there, later moving to Bookstagram.

I can’t remember which came first, Amanda Lovelace leaving Tumblr, or the publishing of The Princess Saves Herself in This One, (though I have a feeling the latter happened first), but I fell in love with Amanda’s words. The Princess Saves Herself in This One, hereto referred to as Princess, became one of my all time favorite poetry books and set me on a course of reading poetry. And let me say, I have much difficulty with poetry. I could never get into the words and what they meant. Though that could have been because the poetry I had read by then only occurred in classes and I was terrible at “reading into the words.” I can’t help wanting the words to mean what they’re saying. I’ve heard others feel the same about poetry, so it makes me feel better.

Since then, I’ve devoured each new book by Amanda Lovelace.

But . . . nothing was ever as good as Princess. Don’t get me wrong, I loved The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One, too. Unfortunately, as the books came, I fell out of love with the words and found them tedious, dragging, and I felt myself slogging through the rest of the collections.

While searching through NetGalley, I came across Unlock Your Storybook Heart as an audiobook, and read by the author, too! Now, I thought, this will surely be amazing. Who better to bring the words to life other than the author?

Except, all the poems ran together, and there were times when I struggled with differentiating one poem from the next. Which was sad as i had been excited to hear Amanda’s words in their own voice.

Maybe I loved the collections at a time when I needed to hear those words the most, and now that I’ve grown from being that person, the words don’t resonate as much with me anymore?

Who knows. Things are always changing.

I truly thank NetGalley and Amanda Lovelace for the chance to review this poetry collection!

I LOVE that this is narrated by the author. I do think that poetry should be seen as well as heard, so listening to this in conjunction with the print version would be even more powerful. I appreciate hearing the voice of healthy women helping others understand the strength and power and truth that lies within each woman! This series of poetry collection is one that girls and women searching for the power within themselves would do well to read. I love that there are answers given by the fairy godmother that is within us all.

I really enjoyed this collection, it's my favourite of the trilogy. There were a lot of poems that really spoke to me, and the illustrations were so cute. It was a very nice experience to be able to read the book and see the illustrations while simultaneously listening to the audiobook.
The audiobook narrated by the author was lovely.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I have read all of Amanda Lovelace’s collections, but this is the first one I’ve listened to on audiobook. Amanda has a very soothing voice. I didn’t really connect with this collection as much as I have in the past, but I feel this collection would be more suited to a younger person still exploring who they are and who may not feel like they fit the mold that society tries to force them into.

A beautiful end to a beautiful series.

The heroine chooses herself, heals and moves on. From a time when she tried to please everyone, she became the one who prioritised herself first. The one who lets others reach her, touch her and adore her. She finds herself redefining words that were used as weapons against her and turns them into words that nourish and comfort her. She has a different, stronger dynamic now, she doesn't let the words affect her as much, nor let the others speak them as freely with the intention of belittling her. And at last, she becomes the main character in her own wonderful story.

An excellent finale to this collection. Amanda Lovelace remains an excellent narrator. This was my favorite of the three, the themes of love in yourself and in others were strongest so far.

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Audio for the audio ARC of this work!
