I wanted to like this auto. The scenes fell shorts and the characters were lack luster for me. I wanted more of a rom com story line with a twist. I feel like it need more of a plot line.

I love Dahlia Adler but I have been trying to finish this audiobook for well over 1.5 years and I'm done trying. It is not for me.

Enjoyable. I liked the idea and most liked how it played out. Some of it was a little out there. Also the way i've never heard a French Canadian who routinely swears in French while they're speaking English so that just slightly annoyed me. But I liked the overall story and how the end played out

Last Will and Testament would have been better if I read it as a physical/ebook. Listening to this on audio was not enjoyable and it did not engage me at all. In my opinion, I don’t think the narrator did this book any justice.

Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC and apologies for the late review!

I instantly grieved with Lizzie as she handles the loss of both parents and the news that at 18 she’s all her little brothers have.

Lizzie is I’ll prepared and has actually been leading a loose life of college partying and failing classes… she takes a jolt to the system and scrambles to put her life back in order.

This was well done and draws you in. I struggled with aspects of Lizzie’s life and some of her choices. But this was a good book.

This book was good and I enjoyed it, however I was not a fan of the narrator which made it difficult for me to get into the book. I liked the story line and thought there was good plot and character development. I think personally I would have enjoyed more as a hard copy than audio.

this was not what I was expecting. it was somewhat sad and hard to read. because of that I didn't feel compelled to pick it up and for that I would pass.

✨Audiobook Review✨

Last Will and Testament, Dahlia Adler.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally, a book with a non-toxic male character. A worthy romance read! I’ve been waiting for you!

Elizabeth is a party girl. She’s living the college life and enjoying her meaningless hookups. That is until she receives the news - her parents have died and she is now responsible for her two younger brothers. Lizzie is making her way through university as a now single parent for her brothers, finding money to feed, house and clothe them, whilst also trying to achieve good grades for herself. Connor, her TA, offers to tutor her but they slowly realise their relationship is not of a normal tutor and tutee and they cannot deny their feelings for each other much longer.

I found the plot of this interesting. I don’t usually like the whole student-teacher relationship as it doesn’t sit right with me. It usually makes me feel a bit weird but this was done well. Connor came across charming and chivalrous - not at all creepy. It’s as if he genuinely wanted to help her situation. Throughout the story there was mild smut - nothing too out there - which I think also contributed to this trope being tackled well.

I really enjoyed the idea of the psycho girlfriend of Lizzie’s ex - Sophie - however I wish there was more of a story line to this. She only really came into play in the last quarter of the book yet I found it one of the most interesting subplots. There could have been so much more done with her. I would’ve loved a multi-POV to see her thoughts too! I also think the same with this of Trevor. He seemed to just fizzle out yet I thought his character had so much more potential!

Overall, this was a really easy and enjoyable read. Definitely a one for romance lovers. If you like the forbidden love, teacher student type tropes you will love this! It also has elements of coming of age.

I really need to stick to physical books, because I LOVED this story. Just not as an audio.

Found it difficult to get into the narrator’s voice and really and truly understand the story. Again, loved the premise of the story as a whole, just wasn’t a fan of the audio.

5/5 for execution of the story. Thanks for the opportunity!

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance! It had everything I’ve been looking for when it comes to this genre. I really loved the connection these two characters had and the overall writing style of the author. Fantastic book and I can’t wait for more by the author!

“..life doesn’t give a shit about perfect timing or perfect circumstances; it just happens.”

This NA romance follows a strong heroine Lizzie Brandt. She’s bold, snarky, and has flaws. She’s a normal 18 year old college student. The side characters were also enjoyable which really makes a huge difference for me. Such an enjoyable read. I enjoyed my time with this.

Read as an audiobook.

I was not able to download this audiobook. But I was able to read the ebook from my local library. Overall, this was a decent heartwarming read.

I loved this book. It took me a while to read it, well, listen to it, because it was the book I took with me on my ride to work, but it was amazing.
Heart breaking, but so rewarding at the same time. While I read it, I couldn´t stop placing my self on her shoes, and, being her same age, it was so easy for me to relate with what she was going through. I would totally recommend this to anybody. It tells a lovely story about a girl whom her parents die on an accident, and she has to take care, being an adolescent, of her two younger brothers, while still going to colleage, trying to mantain a scholarship to be able to continue, and, as if that on itself wasn´t enough, she falls in love with her teacher, the one she hates (yep, is an enemies to lovers) and it gets even harder, when he reciprocates her feelings.
Just read it, I don´t have anything else to say. It´s breezy, easy to follow on audiobook, the voice actors are great, and the plot of the story is really well built.
It´s a solid 4/5 stars for me.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I haven't read anything like it before - not the family situation or dating a much older guy, let alone an authority figure but I loved all of it! I really enjoyed the main character as well as the supporting characters which I have been finding hard lately. Lizzie was a refreshing character, I think especially for her age. Intelligent, resilient, funny, caring and loving. I also loved how surprisingly steamy this book was! I loved the entire relationship and their build up, I love their love and how caring, helpful and overall great (and hot) Connor turns out to be. I could've done without his many back and forths but I think it adds to his character and backstory. Finally, I really enjoyed the writing style and will keep reading Dahlia Adler's books - I can't wait to read about Lizzie's friends and hopefully get an update on her and Connor's relationship.

Thank you so much NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this audiobook!

Mixed feelings about this one. The cover is so cute. Although wasn't a big fan of the audiobook narrator, wasn't my cup of tea.
Unfortunately it's a DNF for me, but I really hope someone else would enjoy this one far more than I did.

Thank You for the experience!

I really loved this story! Lizzie and Connor, though total opposites, just work and I loved how sweet he was to her brothers. The understanding and support that Connor shows Lizzie is exactly what she needs and their chemistry was off the charts. I wish I could read it again for the first time!

A hard-hitting new adult college romance from the great Dahlia Adler, brilliantly narrated by Samantha Summers. It had been on my TBR for years, so when I managed to get an ARC for the audiobook through NetGalley I saw it as a sign from the universe that it was finally time to read it.

Lizzie was an academic star in high school, but now that she's at university she is struggling. Partying all the time, hooking up with all the wrong guys, and not really putting in much effort for her classes. When her parents are killed in a car crash, she's suddenly left taking care of her two grieving younger brothers. It's sink or swim, and Lizzie feels like she's constantly closer to sinking than swimming, let alone breathing. The unexpected help from her T.A. Connor is quite literally a lifeline. She starts to depend on him, and they start to fall for each other. But their relationship is against university rules, and CPS is breathing down Lizzie's neck. Their love could destroy everything they're trying to keep safe.

I loved the chemistry between Lizzie and Connor. They have a rough start, but once they allow themselves to open up to each other a bit more, it's not hard to see how a relationship might actually be possible between them. They balance each other out, and the slight ick of the whole teacher-student romance situation is handled pretty well.

Romance aside, the best part of the book is Lizzie getting her life back on track in order to be the best guardian she could possibly be for her younger brothers. Their trauma over losing their parents is quite prominent in the story, and Lizzie matures throughout the story because she needs to be there to help her brothers through it.

I felt like the ending was a bit too rushed, and it all ended a bit too cleanly to be entirely realistic, but all in all it was a great story. I really enjoyed the narration. At times, when the story dragged down the mood a little bit too much, it was the excellent narrator who got me through it. If it hadn't been for her, I might have even temporarily put this book aside. Instead, thanks to her, I managed to finish it in one day.

This is a fun, sweet New Adult read. I really enjoyed Lizzie's POV, she was a fun character to read and I also sympathized with her for all that she has been through and continues to go through as she has to grow up faster than normal. Lizzie went from College Party Girl to Full on Guardian nearly overnight, after her parents passed suddenly in a Car Accident. She now has to care for her two younger brothers which proves to have its fair share of challenges, but Lizzie prevails and the author did a great job of portraying her character and making her age and circumstances believable. The romance aspect was there, it was an age gap romance that was a tad steamy but oh so sweet. I recommend this book to any NA Romance Lover!
