This book is seriously stinking cute! It will be a great Holiday read. I love Children’s books that seem to be telling one story but have a twist at the end, and you have actually been in a whole different story the entire time. The perspective changes on something in the story and now you are seeing the story from a new lease.

My only small issue is when they say “Let’s Rock and Let’s Roll” at the beginning. It seems out of character and should be something about drumming and strumming. What a cute book!

Strum and Drum tell the story of a pair of musicians who are on a quest through the forest to find the Great Star in the North. As they March along playing a joyful song, they encounter magical lanterns, a silver waterfall, a small house, winter animals, and even tasty snacks. But then a soldier warns them to be quiet or else the green eyed beast will get them. The pair continue on their journey until the beast strikes out at them knocking them down. The beast is a black kitty who is playing with ornaments on the Christmas tree. Our duo are ornaments who are on a journey to the tree at the top of the Christmas tree.
This was such a sweet book. It is full of Christmas magic and taps into children’s imaginations. I can picture young children staring up at the Christmas tree making up stories for all of the ornaments. It reminded me of how children think their toys might actually be playing together at night. This is the perfect story to share with a young child. I also like it because it’s a different kind of Christmas story. I can picture children giggling when they discover that Strum and Drum are ornaments.

Super cute holiday book - not the usual fodder and very fun! I really liked the illustration style and the sweet story that went with it.
