Little Echo is reminiscent of "Where the Wild Things Are', A sweet imagining of friendship and the confidence that comes with the comfort of friends.

Little Echo is a beautifully illustrated picture book. I read it to my 6 year old daughter and she loved it! This is a story about a little echo who is shy and hides away. But then she meets a boy and as she helps him, she finds a friend and discovers her voice. I thought this book had a very positive message and I’m glad I shared it with my daughter.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Little Echo is shy, and hides in the shadows, and only repeats what others around them say. Until Max comes along, also alone, looking for treasure! And Little Echo wants to help him, but is too shy and scared, until they pluck up enough courage to use their own voice and say their own words! While they don't find any traditional buried treasure, Max and Little Echo learn that the real treasure is having a friend to talk to and share an adventure with <3

A charming little story that will teach young readers about how to be brave and speak up, and how to help others around us, and perhaps most importantly that sometimes people around us are shy and scared but that doesn't mean they don't want to be friends!

Thank you NetGalley for this super cute and storied tale of Little Echo. My Kindergartener absolutely loved it. We used the ARC for the neighborhood kids while they were over in the playroom and all 7 of them thought the author did a great job with the illustrations and the point of the story. Super cute! Add to your playroom bookshelf!

Review: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️

I rarely read children's novels but the illustration and the title caught my eye that I just had to request for it! So glad I got a chance to read it.

Let's talk about how vivid and wonderful the illustrations are. They are so cute and colorful that they will catch one's eye. It also introduces children to what an echo is and how it works. in a wonderfully imaginative way.

Little Echo (represented in a illustration as a mouse) is a tiny and timid creature that lives in a large cave. It is too afraid to show itself and would only echo behind any sounds made by other creatures living in the cave. One day, a little boy name Max came into the cave in seeking treasure. Little Echo could not help but follow him and when he got into danger, Little Echo finally develops some courage to say its own words and thus, save Max. They became good friends as such!

It is such a delightful read and would make a good bedtime story. It teaches one to find that own courage to be themselves especially with the right friends. I love how Echo is represented as a mouse who finds its courage to voice its big thoughts.

Highly, highly recommend!

For fans of books with a hint of a scary element such as WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, find your child's next adventure with LITTLE ECHO !
Young children will probably enjoy having this book read to them many times. The pictures have splashes of color to catch the eye of a young audience but have enough dark to create the effect of being in a cave. Parents, babysitter, or teachers will be able to help bring the book to life by having interested children mimic the noises of visitors to Little Echo's cave. Most importantly, of course, is the chance to talk about being yourself and making friends. An important lesson for teachers or parents to point out is that sometimes we must be the first one to say something in order to become friends, and if a child thinks it is scary to speak first, remember that lots of people feel the same way. The stated age range is listed as up to 7; however, this book struck me as being for up to 6. Of course that could vary with the maturity of the child. One charming aspect is the rabbit-type shape of the echo.

Little Echo is a beautifully illustrated book about a small, shy, and lonely echo. This echo bashfully follows people around until he spots a boy searching for treasure who is in trouble and bravely finds his voice. The text and text size is expertly placed to mimic the sounds of echos in the cave, enchanting the reader as they find out what happens to the small echo and his new friend. The illustrations evoke just the right amount of light and dark to bring readers into the cave with Little Echo.

A wonderful story about friendship and finding your voice!

Many thanks to Penguin Random House Canada and Net Galley for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I want to live inside these beautiful illustrations with Max and Echo. The words and illustrations work together to tell the story. A great book for bedtime or to encourage student participation. I cannot wait to add to the library.

What a fun idea to create a Little Echo creature! Of course, Little Echo is very shy – how else could it be – and that can result in loneliness. And the lesson is great too: you must be brave to make friends, and it is not easy to overcome fears, but it is so worth it! Sometimes something you want is bigger than your fear, and that is a good way to start the adventure of reaching out. So, I was happy when Max came along and gave Little Echo the right enticement to come out of her "cave." But it also shows that you need someone special to make the transition easier. Luckily, Max is just the person for Little Echo.

I enjoyed the short story about Little Echo and her bravery. But I know that I could not read this book with my little one because of the illustrations. Don’t get me wrong, I find the portrayal of Little Echo very accurate. The super big ears are adorable! But the surroundings and dangers of the cave with the dark colours are frightening. And as a parent of a very sensitive and imaginative child, I just know that we would not make it through the book without a tear.

So, if you have a brave little child who is not afraid of simple villains – mainly a wild bear – and is not too scared of the dark, then enjoy this fun little read about bravery and making new friends. But if you have a child like me who fears shadows and hates everything “mean”, maybe wait until they are older. You know your child best!

Little Echo is a darling tale of an Echo creature who is too nervous to echo and the boy they befriend. It is a story about believing in your talents and helping a friend. It would be a nice addition to a school or home library.

Little Echo by Al Rodin is beautifully illustrated. I loved this story! It is a great little story about finding the courage to speak up. It is also about friendship.
I'd highly recommend this for any young reader. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book is written by debut author-illustrator Al Rodin and is a delightful hardback picture book full of gorgeous illustrations that deserves a place in classrooms and school libraries.

Little Echo sequesters herself in a dark cave and imitates the lonely sounds that is in her dark and depressing world. She has no voice of her own but only makes utterances that she can mimic from the other beasts around her. Nobody even knows she is there.

Little Echo longs to find her very own voice. She knows in her heart that it is hidden inside of her somewhere it just needs to come out. Finally she encounters Max, a boy human. One day he enters her cave in search of treasure. Although Max has a map he somehow gets lost but remains determined to press on with his mission. He uses his trusty shovel and starts digging away. Little Echo is too scared to tell him that he is digging in Bear's sleeping spot. Then the angry, hungry bear returns and finds Max sound asleep.

From her hiding spot, in the shadows, Little Echo can feel her courage rising and knows that she has to speak up to save Max. Will she be brave enough to use her own voice and save him from imminent danger?

The artwork is gorgeous. It invites the reader into the story and enriches the text greatly. I love the imaginative creative Little Echo character and the storyline is very unique and inspiring. It's a book about bravery, finding your own voice, self-assurance, acceptance and friendship. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Putman Random House Canada/Tundra Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
What a cute book that sets about to explain to small children what is an echo and how it works. Now obviously there is no such thing as a Little Echo, but to small children it is a super cute way to introduce them to echoes and when they get older they will learn what really causes those repeated sounds, but for now this is charming.
Little Echo lives in a cave and is very shy and can repeat only what she hears. Then a young boy named Max enters the cave with a map to find buried treasure. She finds him interesting and follows him and has a fun time helping him and even finds her own voice for the first time. In the end a friendship develops and that is more important to both of them than finding buried treasure. A very fun story with good illustrations that will capture a child's imagination and allow mom or day or grandparent to have a great time reading this book and imitating echoes. Wish it could be a few pages longer, but no matter the length it is very good book to read to children or for first readers. Top notch effort by author Al Rodin!

First off the art is amazing! It's fun, has depth and is a little creepy when needed. The colors and contrasts make you want to keep looking. The page where Max arrives and is shining his flashlight, all the yes.

Echo and her big ears are a fitting depiction of an echo.

Kids might not totally get it without coaching but I love that Echo found her own voice and was brave enough to use it and the treasure they found in their friendship.

This story of Little Echo finding her voice is such an inspiration to young children. Little Echo is timid at the beginning but by the end, she finds her true voice and finds a friend too.

The artwork was gorgeous and I loved the portrayal of Little Echo. I feel like this would be a great story for kids entering into school for the first time and maybe feeling a little shy. The story shows to never be afraid to ask for what you want.
