Zura Johnson did a great job of narrating this novel, you were able to tell which character was speaking and it made it easy to keep the story straight in your head. I would definitely read another book narrated by Zura.

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romance. It has a virgin Succubus, triplet witches, werewolves, shifters, and a hot romance, what more could you want from a book!?! I love that you know where the relationship is heading from the very beginning of Vi and Linc's pact but the journey to get there is fun, flirty, and sexy so you don't mind reading it.

Looking forward to reading more books from April Asher.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this advance listener copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book wasn't for me. I finished it, but I won't be reading the sequel.

This book is about Vi, a member of a trio of witches who happens to have no magic.

I just didn't think this book had much of a plot. There was no character development or world building. It seems like the entire focus was a love story that felt forced. There wasn't a lot of comedy either. All around, not my cup of tea. There is definitely an audience for this book, but I prefer more thought provoking stories.

The audio was average. I liked her female voices, but not the male ones.

This book was absolutely delightful and exactly what I needed to fall into. A spicy urban supernatural rom-com with a guaranteed happy ending (pun intended) that was still lighthearted enough to make me laugh. The narrator did a wonderful job being engaging and bringing the characters to life. Overall it was *chef's kiss* perfection.

I enjoyed this story. The comedy and the romance made the story awesome in my opinion. I will definitely be looking out for this author!

I've been reading a lot of contemporary romance novels lately so I can definitely pick out formulas and themes and the like. And this had some different things going for it. But I just didn't connect with it. I was bored by it. :/ Parts of it were cute but it mostly didn't do anything for me. I'm not sure I'll be continuing the series. The narrator was great though.

If you're looking for a fun, witty, well written paranormal romance then you're found it. This book had just the right amount of spice to make it truly story driven which I loved,

The relationship between Violet and her family had me laughing at times and wanting to cry for them at others. Imagine being the only witch in a family of witches with no power, that's where Violet Maxwell finds herself, she's come to terms with her past, and the term Magicless Maxwell doesn't bother her all that much as long as she has the love of her sisters and grandmother, which she does, unconditionally.

So imagine her surprise when she starts feeling things, magical things but only when her emotions are being pushed, both good and bad. Personally I found angry Violet my favorite Violet, when she looses her temper, well just watch out.

Lincoln Thorne is an alpha male, no really an Alpha as in alpha werewolf of North America and the man that broke Violets heart and her ability to love. If only he could tell her what happened that night, but he can't, he has to try to win her trust without answers to the questions that have haunted her for years,

Then there's the matter of his impending mating, yep, archaic rules that say he has to claim a mate by his next birthday which just happens to be soon, really soon. At the same time Violet is realising that even though she thought she has some hard choices to make of her own. So what are these two with an unfinished story supposed to do? Fake date of course, soundeded perfectly logical so why do their darn emotions keep getting in the way and will they really fall in love or will they go their separate ways again.

Even with the dating being fake in the beginning it didn't take long for Violet and her family to realize that Lincoln brought out the best in her, and her magic as a bonus but are there too many unanswered questions? Too many nights spent crying? Only time will tell for these two and if they can sort themselves out there's hope for the future that's in the best interest of everyone involved in this magical community.

From a virginal succubus, to an actual guardian angel, I loved that this book explored all areas of the supernatural world, it made for well rounded world building and character development that leads readers on a journey they feel like they're part of and to me that's the mark of a great book.

The narrator was fantastic, she really seemed to get the personality of the characters into her voice, which Is a true talent and something I really enjoy, I could almost see facial expressions just based off of the tone of her voice, I'll be looking for more that she lends her voice to.

DNF at 30%. This is a prime example of being tricked into reading a book because it involves witches but then it remains painfully white cishet. Maybe it gets better later, but I'm not about to continue wasting my time hoping for something more.

Not The Witch You Wed by April Asher is a sexy fun fantasy fake dating, or better yet, fake mating romcom that had me laughing and then swooning throughout narrator's Zura Johnson on point comedic timing.

Violet has yet to have any magical powers. Then she reunites with her high school love, Lincoln, who broke her heart. He is The Alpha wolf shifter and never meant to hurt Violet. In fact he has done nothing but protect her. Now the arcane supernatural laws demand they find their true mates or face dire consequences. So Violet and Lincoln make a deal to pretend they are together. You know where this is going but what a fun steamy magical journey. The author brought magic to life in her detailed writing of describing magic being born from a destined love. A truly joyous romance.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

So fun, entertaining , witty and laugh out loud moments.I like that there are different tropes within this sweet romance , lost love, second chance , plus paranormal with witches, werewolves , shifters , you name it its in there . Lincoln is the ultimate bad boy Alpha who wants to modernize the way supernatural laws should be in this day and age , Violet is a witch whose powers have been dormant for most of her life , seems to awaken when she runs into Lincoln, from there the story is fast paced , drama , fun.

✍️ One Sentence Synopsis: Witch meets werewolf, real dating said werewolf ends in heartbreak but later in life agrees to fake dating arrangement for mutual gain.

💭 Overall Thoughts:
Fantasy and paranormal are not typical genres for me but I really enjoyed this one. I loved the intertwining of different paranormal beings within the same story but that it also was written to be plausibly happening within current day human existence. There were some great pop culture references that built in that added to this effect.

The romance here is a second chance/fake dating trope and sparks definitely fly! I enjoyed the witty banter between the two main characters and how they independently stand up for one another even when they aren’t fully convinced of their romance.

This was a fun read with some added angst and girl power themes written in. The audio book is engaging and well narrated. Definitely enjoyed it!

Highlights:
🧙‍♀️ B. A. W. (Bad ass witch)
🧪 Chemistry so palpable it sparks off the page
🥸 Fake dating

This one...didn't really land with me and I'm letting go at around 35%.

It may be just a case of not the right book for the right reader, although I have definitely enjoyed paranormal romance in the past. But I had several nitpicks that made the book kind of a slog for me.

For one, it felt like it was trying to be this big, extended world urban fantasy with like POLITICS and ACTION and INTRIGUE but the worldbuilding and, frankly, plot, just wasn't there. Leaving off at a third of the way through the book and almost nothing had happened except for the characters' literally CONSTANT panting after one another.

Which brings me to my second nitpick. We are told. So many times. How hot these characters are. For Each other. AM I laying down. Enough emphasis. For you? Seriously. If the book had edited out even a quarter of us being TOLD how much the characters wanted to have sex with each other, the audiobook might have managed to get somewhere before I bailed.

I also didn't really find the supporting cast of characters to be very interesting or believable.

Ok, I know this is a really negative sounding review, but there's a lid for every pot, et cetera, if you like PNR on the fluffier side (think Molly Harper, not, I don't know, Kim Harrison or Ilona Andrews), then give it a shot.

This was a fabulous shifter romance! Had everything you would hope form a paranormal romance with some funny twists. Loved reading every minute of it!

Thank you so much to Dreamscape Media for the advanced listening copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think witch and wolf shifter books have just become a part of my personality and this one didn't disappoint. I loved Violet and Lincoln's second chance romance that came complete with fake dating/mating, ancient laws meant to be broken, broody shifters and scheming witches all set in a modern reality. The author also definitely sets this up to be a series with Violet being a triplet (or part of a magical triad, if you will) and I can't wait to see what the sisters get up to. The narrator for this book was excellent and was able to seamlessly switch between all the different characters. I will definitely be reading/listening to more in this series!

This was a cute book in general, but I received the audio book version so I'll comment on that. I enjoyed the narrator's inflections and delivery style. I do think it could have benefited from a younger sounding voice, as I'm partial to the voice actors who sound like they could be one of the characters in the book, but she had a calming delivery either way.

If you liked the premise of Neon Gods but wasn't a fan of the darker, grittier setting, this may just be a good substitute. Though not as spicy as Neon Gods, we still get some decent spice scenes as well as great banter between the leads.
It also seems like Asher is setting the world up to be a series similar to the Dark Olympus series where each character finds their partner in upcoming books!

So fun!! I love a good supernatural romance, and this one was full of just the perfect amount of spice! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes, and this one delivered in spades!

This is the tale of two gorgeous supernatural creatures coming together to turn the entire supernatural community on its head. Violet the magicless firstborn of a triplet group is told that ancient dictates that she find herself a mate or be mated to a person of the council's choosing. Link Alpha of the North American Pack is told he needs to find a mate before his 33rd birthday or be forced into a band with a person of the Elder Board's choosing. So they each turn to their high school sweetheart turned enemy, to help buy themselves some time to find a way out of their predicament.
I loved this book! The characters were great. Link's unwavering belief in Violet sent my heart aflutter. Violet was a strong independent women with a heart of gold. And the secondary characters were fantastic too. Bax being the overprotective Angel friend, Harper being the encouraging succubus friend and of course, Violet's sisters being supportive of her and just standing together with her against the world. Not to mention the kickass grandmother who pulls everyone together.
One thing that some might not like is how predictable the story was. I knew from just a few chapters in how the book was going to go. But this did not detract me from enjoying the heck out of this book.
I should also mentioned the awesome job the narrator did on the audio book. I knew straight away who was talking because of how she was so consistent in the voices she used for each character.

NOT THE WITCH YOU WED by April Asher. So many problems here. I knew I was getting into shenanigans but little did I know. This book was a mess. The introduction to the magic system was so confusing only to realize it was based on a generic magic system. Ha. Did you know that existed? And the depth here was very shallow. There was nothing to hold onto. Nothing!! DNF at 59@ Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy!
