Not the Witch You Wed has a lot of potential, but just didn’t do it for me. The magical aspects and world building of magical beings was interesting, but quite difficult to keep up with as there are a lot of different backgrounds that are talked about. Which beasts got along with who, who has the longest history of being at the top of the food chain, it was all thrown at the reader quite quickly. This is personal preference, but phrases like “son of a witches broomstick” is so silly it takes me out of the story entirely, and those quips were said quite frequently. A good start for a rom-com chick lit book, but I just couldn’t get myself to finish it.

I loved this book and was SO GLAD to see that it's going to be a series. Fake dating with supernatural vibes and a woman stepping into her power? This story was right up my alley.

The characters were great - not just the MCs but their friends and family, the humor between the main couple was adorable, and I'm interested to see what Violet and Lincoln do to upturn old supernatural society in the next books. (Though I suspect we'll be seeing it through the eyes of other couples in the community with that teaser in the epilogue!)

I listed to the audiobook and the narrator did a lovely job.

*I received a copy of the audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my gosh! Witches! Shifters! Succubi, oh my! This book! So good that I don’t even have coherent thoughts.

I love love love Violet and Lincoln! They are just so perfect together!!! This book was an enemies to lovers masterclass!

Also it had pretty decent spice (even if it took a while to get there!)

I had already read this title a few months ago and was happy to dive back in to this story via an audiobook. The narrator took me a chapter or two to settle into but then I started to really enjoy their voices and style. The growls coming from Linc and his wolf were so fun in the novel and even more so here. I think this title can appeal to a lot of readers who may not think they like paranormal stories. Love the chemistry and banter between Lincoln and Violet and that was definitely fun to hear in the audiobook.

SURPRISED ME!

I am one of those readers who has never been super into shifter/paranormal romances. But I gave this a chance based off of a trusted friend’s remarks and y’all. I adored this!!!

Since I listened to an advanced audio copy let me first say, the audio was GREAT. I had no issues with the narration. Loved the way it was told, easy to keep on a high speed. It was wonderful and definitely recommend that avenue!

Back to the story now. Let me throw out some tropes that I LOVE that this book had: fake dating and fated mates. I will take those always and forever. I loooove fated mates and I think this was really well written! I think the addition of the second chance trope helped too. There’s a slow build, but clear attraction between Lincoln and Violet. I did struggle with how much heavy innuendo there was (but I know that’s a point for others, so I’m mentioning it!). There’s also DUAL-POV. Which I am an absolute sucker for.

I really liked the larger plot with the politics of shifter groups and supernatural organizations. The romance kept the necessary front seat, while an enjoyable back seat plot pushed the narrative forward. All around a wonderful read I’m glad I took a chance on and I can’t wait to see what next book will be in the series!

Overall audience notes:
- Paranormal Romance
- Language: strong
- Romance: three brief, but very explicit open door
- Violence: physical and magical altercations, bullying

Not the Witch You Wed is a fake dating, second-chance romance between magic-less witch, Violet, and shape-shifting wolf, Lincoln. When supernatural laws require them to find mates, Lincoln and Violet turn to each other to try to buy themselves time. Only they soon realize they may have some unresolved feelings from their past.

I got really into paranormal romances in October and got super excited and requested a bunch on NetGalley. Not the Witch You Wed was one of those requests. What I have found is that I am definitely a seasonal reader and paranormal romances are definitely more my thing during spooky season and not so much during Valentine’s season.I think I would have enjoyed this one much more during that time of year, but I struggled getting into it. There wasn’t anything I disliked about it at all, I just was not in the mood for this one at this time. That being said, if you like paranormal romances year round or if you decide to save this one for spooky season it has a lot to offer:
A curvy MC who loves the way she looks
Lots of wit, humor and pop culture references
A complex, well-developed supernatural universe
2 of my favorite tropes: 2nd chance romance and fake dating
So many great side characters - the friends and family here really added so much personality to the story

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration was phenomenal. Despite me struggling to get into the story, the narrator kept me engaged the whole time.

I’m definitely open to reading more from this series, especially during spooky season. I mean the series is called Supernatural Singles which is the best series title.

Thank you to SMP Romance, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the advanced copies.

This is the most unique dragon story I have ever read and the ending was perfect!!! I love how the character interact and the story flow is nice. The descriptions throughout the book thoroughly immerse the reader into the world and it t put my phone down.
There is some romance with an enemy to lovers vibe. The MC and lover interest bicker throughout the story and it is hilarious!
I love how the story is set in an alternate Mexico where they fight dragon instead of bulls. And the twist at the end was so sad. I couldn't believe it!
This book is a definite must read and has me wanting to read more by the author.

This was AMAZING! I love witchy romances and this one was no exception. I listened to the audio version of this and truly BEYOND enjoyed it. I loved the family dynamics of Violet being a triplet. This book contained so many amazing characters like demons, angels, werewolves, different shape shifters, and even vampires…SO ENTERTAINING! Character develop was excellent not just with the MC’s, but with all the characters introduced. The romance was sweet AND super spicy ..the perfect combination.

I LOVED listening to this on audio. Everything was great, The narrator, the inflections, the speed, and the different characters voices where all so well done. I rushed and pre-ordered the paperback version IMMEDIATELY after finishing to have for my collection! I’m excited for the next book that hopefully includes Rose next. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you @netgalley for this arc for my honest review.

I’ve come to find out I really enjoy the fake dating trope and this one has a magical twist! I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator was delightful. I’m not normally into the witchy magical stuff but I figured since this month I’m trying new books, new genres, why not dive right in?

Violet Maxwell is a witch. A witch with no magic! After wolf shifter Lincoln Thorne broke her heart she wrote him off for good. That is until the two of them are reunited by the arcane Supernatural Laws to find significant others.

The crafty pair decides to fake date in order to bide some time. However, when Violet’s magic re-emerges and so do those old familiar feelings. Consequently there are numerous secrets that threaten to tear the newly reconciled couple apart.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I love a good paranormal romance, especially when the chemistry is palpable off of the page. Violet and Lincoln have chemistry in spades, and the narrator did a great job in expressing it. In audiobooks like this where it is from both perspectives I tend to prefer the ones that have two different narrators for the parts, but the narrator did such a good job with this that it was easy to get lost in the tale without it being too distracting.

The author did a great job with world building in this, drawing you in to the politics and law of the land in a way that I haven't seen done so well since the Sookie Stackhouse novels. It creates a world both familiar and new and keeps you hooked until the last sentence. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance.

3.5 stars rounded up: I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The synopsis seems very cheesy, but I truly enjoyed it. I mean it was a paranormal fake dating trope. What more could I have asked for?

A witchy paranormal romance ?! I’m really not sure what more a girl could ask for. Add in a little fake dating and second chance romance and colour me obsessed.

This book was so much fun, I truthfully couldn’t put it down. I needed to finish it faster then I physically could. The witty sarcastic banter between Violet and Linc had me hook from the very first thrown snowball right until the very last firework display.

Not only were the two MC’s well developed but the remainder of the players were as well. When I realized I had finished I was so devastated to be leaving their little world and already googling April Asher in hopes there’s a follow up book with Olive and Bax!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

WOW!!! This book took me by complete surprise... I LOVED IT! Definitely read this if you like the following:

🧙‍♀️ Witches and werewolves 🐺
🪄 MAGIC
❤️ Fake Dating trope
💋 Awesome chemistry and steam 🔥
💜 Fated Mates
👯‍♀️ Great sister and family dynamics
🏙 Urban Fantasy setting -- largely takes place in NYC and this book includes all different paranormal life forms (witches, demons, angels, vampires, werewolves)... just so fun!

This was just so much MORE than what I had expected it to be -- not just a romance, but a great story that revolved around not just our MCs, but also the world at large. Both MCs come from families that are high up in the supernatural organizations of power so there was a good amount of political aspects, as well.

Highly highly recommend if you are a paranormal/romance reader. Also, really hoping this becomes a standalone series with Violet's (our heroine) sisters!!

Also, this audiobook was great!!

Rating: 4.5 stars!

4.25 ish stars

Ooh, yes. This one was fun (and funny) right from the beginning. It reads more like fanfic filled with romance tropes (second chances! enemies to lovers! fake dating!) than a piece of serious literature, but that’s exactly what I wanted- something fun, fluffy, and flirty. I enjoyed the references to shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. I liked the characters, the reasonably predictable plot, and the new spins the writer put on some fairly classic ideas. I could tell partway through that she was setting this book up as the first in a series, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be checking out the next story, whenever it’s available.

A fun, sexy, dual perspective second chance at love, fake dating supernatural romance between a witch coming into her powers and an Alpha shifter forced to find a mate. I found this story a tad long, but overall filled with great chemistry and relatable sister and friendship bonds. Recommended for fans of the television show Charmed or books like The ex-hex or The fix-it witches series. Good on audio with narration by Zura Johnson. Much thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and St. Martin's Press for my advance reader's copy!
