This was a great story and gave a taste of international action as well. I really enjoyed the characters of Noemi and Ranger. This book had me turning the pages as quickly as possible to find out what happens to Ranger and Noemi!

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

This is another wonderful book of suspense. I loved the descriptions of Nigeria and of Alaska. There was great romance and some very good suspense. I loved Ranger and Noemi. I love that this leads up to the next book in the series. I felt this was emotional and inspirational. I give this book a five out of five stars.

Sunburst is the second book in the Sky King Ranch series by Susan May Warren.
If you enjoy Christian romance, humor and action packed suspense, you will love this book. Susan, one of my favorite authors, never lets you down.
Ranger Kingston, a former Navy Seal, goes to Nigeria to help rescue his brother, Colt, who is being held hostage by a group of terrorists. He is not able to get to Colt but he does rescue Noemi Sutton, a woman from his past that he has not been able to forget, and a young girl named Blessing. During the rescue Ranger is shot and Noemi and Blessing help him get to safety but they are not safe for long, and that is where the suspenseful drama begins.
The book is full of action with all the Kingston family and Nigerian traditions, even a Nigerian wedding.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series and learn more about Colt!
I thank NetGalley and Revell Publishing for allowing me to read and give my review.

I have read many of Susan May's books and this one is my absolute favorite. Ranger and Noemi will stick with me for a long time.

Ranger Kingston is a SEAL. He knew as a child that was what he wanted for his life, to be able to save the world and make it a better place. Knowing he wanted that for his life he decided that he would not fall in love, would not get married, because he had been told that he could not have both. He decided to give 200% of himself to being a SEAL. And then he met Noemi. He was in the FL. Keys for his dive test and they spent 2 weeks together, both feeling something special was happening, but Noemi had also decided she would stay single. She wanted to travel the world and help where she could. So why, when Ranger had a diving accident did it hurt her so much when he told her that their time together was over?

Fast forward 4 years and they meet again when she is taken hostage in Boko Haram territory in Nigeria. She was an aid worker not causing trouble, she was there to help in any way that she could. She was taken hostage with Dr. Aaron Hanson, Colt( Ranger's brother) along with a few other people including a young girl named Blessing. What Colt and his fellow Jones Inc. cohort Fraser Marshall, were doing out in the middle of the bush with their client was unknown to Ham, he only knew they were in trouble along with 2 women and a local girl. Ham's team had flown in 2 weeks ago to track them down. A call to Ranger a week later had put him on a plane home to get Dodge his chopper- pilot brother to assist in a "snatch and grab" deep in northeastern Nigeria.

This story is an amazing example of how love can grab hold of us even when we decide that we don't want it. Ranger and Noemi had both decided to focus on one part of their life and push away other parts, but God knows the path that we will be walking and when we let Him, he can bless us more than we can possibly imagine, even when the darkness falls.

Breathtaking!

Susan May Warren's books are always a powerful read! This was another amazing story with fast-paced action. The author does an amazing job of bringing the setting and the characters alive. I also love the deep spiritual layers threaded into these stories.

I also love how the author continues to connect characters from her other series. Susan May Warren is always a Must Read for me. I can't wait to read the final book in this amazing series!

This book hooked me from the first page and I could not put it down! The action was intense and page turning while the relationships were so interesting and believable. I loved how Noemi was fearless and creative with everything that was thrown at her. Ranger was fantastic as well. He worked so hard to keep the women safe while being injured. There were so many things to love about these characters and plot but some of my favourites were the disability rep, a favourite trope (Spoiler!), the Nigerian culture, and strong developed characters. I loved the whole reading experience!

I received an arc via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

You can always count on Susan May Warren to do her research and deliver a story that sucks you right in! Sunburst is book 2 in the Sky King Ranch series. It kicks off with a rescue mission in Nigeria but the plot thickens when former Navy Seal, Ranger Kingston recognizes one of the hostages - a woman he could never forget. It's a wild ride through the pages from a Nigerian wedding to explosions to family drama. Warren delivers a book that weaves action, suspense, romance and family beautifully through the chapters. Readers will enjoy Ranger and Noemi's story and will be left with a question as to what happens next!

Susan May Warren is a favorite of mine especially when I'm in the mood for a clean romance with lots of adventure. This is the second book in her Sky King Ranch series and it's definitely one of my favorites of 2022. It's best to read Sunrise first because Sunburst picks up right where Sunrise left off. This time brother Ranger is off to Nigeria to rescue his brother Colt but Noemi, a woman from his past is in need of help as well. Their story takes you on an action-packed ride as Ranger seeks to do whatever it takes to keep Noemi safe.

Now I'm looking forward to Sundown which is Ranger and Dodge's brother Colt's story. I know it'll be just as amazing!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Published 7 June 2022.

Despite the dozens of fantastic books I've read by Warren, I was amused to only just now have the thought that all of her books follow the exact same plot. Boy and girl will be in love but obstacles/their past/they don't know each other yet, so something happens and they are stuck alone together in a catastrophic emergency situation and come out happily in love. BUT, the crazy thing is that Warren has come up with SO MANY emergency situations and catastrophes (and each well researched!) that each book is still one you can't put down. And this one is no exception--be prepared to read it until you've seen them safely home!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley--all opinions are my own.

This is the next installment about the Sky King Ranch in Alaska where the owner is the father of one daughter and triplet sons. The daughter is a bush pilot just like her father and the triplets left home after a big dustup over a female and they all joined different military groups in special ops. This installment is about Ranger who is out of the military now because of an eye condition but hasn't told anyone yet. He accepts the challenge to go with a special group of ex-special ops personnel that are going to Africa to rescue an American aid worker who has been taken hostage by terrorists.

I love all of Susan May Warrens' series and this one is especially entertaining because of all the specialties of the characters.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

"Because Ranger hurt everywhere, but nowhere more than in his chest, because just being around Noemi had a way of ripping open old wounds. Old desires. And of course, his biggest regrets."
Ranger and Noemi have a past. One where they both got a glimpse of the possibilities of a future together, but fear and duty got in the way. Now, many years later, on a rescue op, Ranger finds Noemi as part of the group that has been taken by a terrorist group. This rescue sets off circumstances that has them on the run from an enemy they can't pinpoint, and facing the feelings that went dormant but never were erased.
This second installment of this series was so powerful. All of these characters have found their way to my heart. I love this author and her writing and this series is one of my favorites. This story was exciting and romantic. Ranger is a hero who is struggling due to circumstances outside his control. Noemi has struggled with fear and the feeling of being left behind her whole life. I found myself unable to put this down as I was reading, because I had to know what was going to happen next. The setting and the characters jump off the page and make me feel like I'm right there with them. This story stood out to me in so many ways- I loved the truths that were explored, the way the story that started with Dodge in the first book was added to and continued so seamlessly. The truth of God's love for us, His care for us, despite our sin and mistakes, really came to life in this story. His pursuit of us, and the way that He uses the difficult things in our lives for our good and for His glory also stood out to me as a truth explored through these characters. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series! I can't recommend this author or this book enough!
"You don't need to know where you're going, just the one who is with you. And there is no one better to have on your side than the almighty God. He has a path, and it's good."

This book is outstanding!!! It is the second novel in the Sky King Ranch series and I would recommend reading the first just so you are familiar with the characters and there is a story line that is going to connect all three books in the series.

Noemi Sutton has found herself taken as hostage in Nigeria while there as an aid worker. Ranger Kingston has been brought in to get the group to safety. Little does he know that the woman he once met and fell in love with (and never forgot) is in the group and the adventure they are in for. After their daring escape they somehow find themselves going through a Nigerian wedding before finally making it back to Ranger's family ranch in Alaska. Danger has followed them and is still after them while there.

Both Noemi and Ranger are in love with the other but they both have issues with committing to the other due to fears that they will let the other person down. There are some flashback scenes that show how they met and how they ultimately separated. I enjoyed that as well as the Nigerian customs that were included.

It does end on a sort of cliffhanger with some things still left to be tied up in the next installment which is about Ranger's brother Colt. I thoroughly enjoyed Sunburst and can't wait for the third and final book in the series to release.

I loved this fast-paced book with its believable characters, hostile environments, ruthless baddies, seemingly insurmountable odds, and then the sexual tension between Ranger and Noemi. Whew! Ranger reminded me of Jack Reacher because he was almost indestructible, a bit of a hunk and yet with a soft heart that I really liked. I loved the Nigerian wedding, with Noemi’s quirky and lovable royal family, and everything that went wrong afterwards. Funny, sad, entertaining. All of that. I’ll be looking for more books by this author. Thanks for a great read.

FAMILY, FAITH, AND FIERCENESS!

Susan May Warren’s Sunburst (Sky King Ranch Book #2) is compelling! What I like about this book is that it revolves around family, faith, & fierceness. The Kingston family to be exact and they are a bunch of real men. They are triplets and their names are Ranger, Colt, and Dodge and they all serve in some aspect of the military. They were a little rowdy growing up but the big division occurred when one of them kissed one of the other one’s girl! Saying the family is estranged would be an understatement of epic proportions.

However, the brothers rally to save Colt who has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria while rescuing a group of hostages from a group of terrorists. Ranger arrives and the rescue is only partially successful requiring him to come up with an entirely new plan of escape for himself, Noemi Sutton, and a young girl she was trying to protect. Ranger and Noemi once had the possibility of a relationship but have not seen each other in many years. There are immediate sparks between the two of them but Ranger must focus on the mission of getting them to a safe place so they can be airlifted out. Warren showcases the fierceness of the warrior that Ranger is as she places many challenging tasks before the trio. Warren allows the characters to question their faith and show growth because of the challenges they face. She also shows the importance of love and family as against all odds Noemi’s and Ranger’s families prove that going that going above and beyond is something they both do no matter the consequences. Warren will keep you on the edge of your seat with the nonstop action-packed suspense she has written on every page. No fear, she has incorporated plenty of romance for these brothers, as well!

I can always count on this author to take me for quite a ride when I read one of her adventure-suspense books! The setting of Nigeria was fascinating and I loved the things I learned about the people and culture there. The danger felt so real and I can't imagine being in those circumstances. The flashbacks to Ranger and Noemi's first meeting and brief relationship were foundational to understanding their current tension and angst, and their amazing chemistry. I loved how their personalities complemented each other in the best ways. There is also an inspirational thread as both Ranger and Noemi find and strengthen their faith in God and each other. While they were on the run, we have another continuing story in Alaska with the woman rescued from the blizzard and her ties to the Russians. By the end of the book I could start to make out some of the puzzle pieces to the bigger picture and I can't wait for the next book to see how they fit together and especially Colt and Tae's romance!

Sunburst is the second book in Warren's Sky King Ranch series and I loved reading the Kingston brothers' new story. It was a great one and had some intense moments...I couldn't read fast enough.

The romance was good, although a little too intense at times for my personal preference. I loved how it was a second chance romance, though. :)

The ending was great and had another cliffhanger, so I'm even more eager to read Sundown as soon as I can. I recommend Sunburst, but encourage you to read Sunrise first.

This is a wild ride! Loved how Noemi and Ranger met and loved how they kept meeting throughout the book. I especially loved how they ended up in Nigeria. I loved seeing the Nigerian culture - especially reading about eating soup with fufu because one of my students brought that in for our class one year!

I also loved how so many of these characters had to learn to truth each other and God.

I can't wait to see how this trilogy finishes!

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Their lives are at stake...so are their hearts...

Gee, whiz! What a story that was! I didn't know for a minute or two or twelve whether I was coming or going! I just knew that I couldn't have put Sunburst down even if I had wanted to, which, of course, I didn't! This second Sky King Ranch book was even more intense and riveting than the first one! Not just a romantic suspense novel, this book was more of a thriller with a strong dash of adventure – all of which Susan May Warren does very, very well.

From the wilds of Nigeria to the Alaskan wilderness, from a Boko Haram camp to an African palace to a lodge in the shadow of Denali, Sunburst takes readers on a wild ride of danger and intrigue that is sure to satisfy the romance and mayhem loving heart of any Susan May Warren fan.

I just have to shout out that two of my favorite things about the second book in the Sky King Ranch series were the appearance of some old friends of Global Search And Rescue fame and the way that book two seems to be building onto the over-arching mystery that was started in book one.

Sunrise was riveting. Sunburst was intense. Now, I'm just wondering how Susan May Warren can top those two in the next Sky King Ranch novel...I know she can do it, but how....I for one, can't wait to find out!

(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

I was chosen to read and review Susan May Warren’s Sunburst. I first read Sunrise, which is the first book in the Sky King Ranch series. I enjoyed that book very much. However, I am not into reading novels set in Africa. Maybe it’s because I don’t know much about Africa or its evolving history.

I started this book with the idea that I would not like it, but once I was into Chapter Two, I was hooked on the book and its characters. The Kingston triplet brothers are all into search and rescue. Ranger Kingston is called to take part in a rescue mission that includes his brother, Colt in the country of Nigeria. Of course, there is a damsel in distress that Kingston must rescue along with his brother. Because each page in this book is riveting and thrilling, it did not take me long to finish it. Now I am eagerly awaiting the third book in the series which will feature brother Colt! I can’t wait. If it follows the theme of the other two books in the series, it will be a thrill a minute.

I am yet to read a Susan May Warren book that didn’t live up to expectations, and this one blew them out of the water!!

I loved book 1 in this series and so was super excited to read the next of the Kingston triplets stories (yes, you read that right, triplets!!) and I’m happy to report that - in my opinion - this is one of those rare occasions that book 2 is actually even better than book 1!

It’s jam-packed with page turning action from page one! And those characters!!!! You can’t help but fall in love with Ranger… and Noemi - let’s just say it’s been a LONG time since I have related to a character as strongly as I did to Noemi. She and I have some of the same defence mechanisms, and I feel like I learned more about myself by reading about her. So, thanks Susie! They’re complex and relatable characters and their romance storyline was believable and realistic and didn’t take away from the action! And I loved every minute of reading this book! Oh, and did I mention that most of it is set in Africa?

I have to confess that at least some of my love of this book comes from strong nostalgia! I spent some of my childhood in Africa, and while I lived in Tanzania & Malawi, and this book is set in Nigeria (which is on the other side of the continent), that stunning cover & some of the settings, animals, and food mentioned brought back so many memories & really brought the story to life for me!!!

Nostalgia aside though - in all honesty, if you’re looking for a good romantic suspense read, you can’t go wrong with this one! I

Thanks for the buddy read @wellreadcoffeeaddict - as always it was an absolute pleasure to share the ride with you!

And thank you @revellbooks and @netgalley for the ARC. I was only asked to provide an honest review in return & here you have it!
