I don't think I could have love the story or setting of The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand anymore than I did. The multiple perspective storytelling and Gilded Age hotel are highlights of the book almost as much as the incredibly charming characters, especially Lizbet. The story is dramatic, witty, and entertaining overall; a classic summer-style beach read.

A fun change from my usual reads 😊

I really liked this one!! I loved seeing the hotel progress and seeing the characters develop over the summer. I definitely became attached to the characters so much so that even I want to work at the hotel! I enjoyed the ending and how well everything was played out. I also really enjoyed the lil ghost aspect they threw in there👻

The Hotel Nantucket was an engaging novel following the staff members and one slightly mischievous ghost during the summer of 2022 during their first season. I enjoyed the various plot lines and learning more about Nantucket, too. It was simply difficult to put down as I got more engrossed in their stories. Fans of Elin’s previous work will adore this addition to her backlist.
Thank you to the publisher for the advanced review copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Lizbet Keaton needs a fresh start and what could be more fresh than the re-opening of an iconic hotel on Nantucket that is rumored to be haunted. The Hotel Nantucket features a lovable cast of characters (including said ghost, Grace!) over the course of the summer as the The Hotel Nantucket fights for its right to be open and for the elusive fifth key from legendary hotel reviewer Shelley Carpenter.

I have never been disappointed by an Elin Hilderbrand novel and this one is no exception. It is everything I want in a beach read or even a middle of winter read when I wish I was at the beach. Her beautiful cast of characters continue to come alive page after page and she does them absolutely no disservice in developing their stories.

Thanks to NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company, and Elin Hilderbrand for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I enjoyed this one, as I usually do when it comes to Elin Hilderbrand.
I especially enjoyed the story behind the ghost, and how they brought the hotel back to life. As always, I loved the beach setting and descriptions of Nantucket and the ocean. Another great beach read.

This book had so much potential but as soon as I started reading and saw that there was a ghost character, I was immediately turned off. It was hard for me to get past the parts with the ghosts POV. I have absolutely loved every other Elin Hilderbrand book that I have ever picked up so I had high hopes for this one. In my opinion, when you mix paranormal with an otherwise decent story, it just comes off as cheesy and less realistic. The plot was great though so if paranormal is your thing, I would absolutely recommend this read. If you're not into ghosts, I would suggest skipping this one and opting for literally any other Elin book as they are all fabulous!

Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. Her books are such a delight and her latest The Hotel Nantucket is just another in a long line of winners. Lizbet Keaton has had a bad breakup with her long time boyfriend and is looking for a fresh start. She gets that as she is named the new general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, a once wonderful hotel which has been abandoned for a long time. She hopes that she can win over the new owner Xavier Darling, as well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the popular Instagrammer who can help put them back on the map. As with any business there’s a lot of drama behind closed doors. The staff and guests have complicated pasts, and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation it earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed nineteen-year-old chambermaid Grace Hadley. With Grace the ghost haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kinds of secrets, and Lizbet’s own romantic uncertainty, the Hotel Nantucket provides a perfect summer read.

Lizbet Keayton is ready to start over. After a messy (and very public) break up she finds herself the manager of the mysterious, brand new hotel on Nantucket. Working hard to gather a fun staff, Lizbet does everything in her power to appease her secretive boss in his quest to win the coveted fifth key review and become the most popular hotel on the island. Along the way the ghost of nineteen-year old Grace Hadley, a chambermaid who was killed in a fire at hotel in 1922 will do everything she can to get people to notice her. Will that spell doom for the hotel or be the thing that saves them all. A quirky and loveable cast of characters will keep readers turning pages.

Lizbet is hired as the manager for the refurbishment of the Nantucket hotel by millionaire Xavier Darling. He is determined to win a 5th key from a travel blog and spares no expense. As their first summer progresses the stakes are high. Bonuses based on reviews are awarded and some staff isn’t above cheating. With her job on the line Lisbet navigates the summer problems. I’m a big fan of Elian and read just about everything she writes. This one is extra good.

I always look forward to reading the new Elin book every summer. It has become something of a ritual for myself. Once again Hildebrand transports readers back to her beloved Nantucket. This iteration is focused on the opening and first season of the remodeled Hotel Nantucket. The book follows those working and even living in the hotel as well as the ghost that haunts its halls. While the premise was interesting, I was not as engaged in this book as some of her other reads. I was interested in hearing about the characters, but felt a little less connected to the island in this book. For readers of Hildebrand I don't think you will be disappointed, but I don't know that this will top the list of her books.

‘The Hotel Nantucket’ by Elin Hilderbrand is a mostly sweet novel of a new hotel opening in Nantucket and all of the new staff who come on board. The twist is the hotel has been around a long time, long enough to have opened and closed a few times and housed a murder. Hilderbrand makes a fun choice in giving the ghost of the murdered maid her very own voice. It may sound silly but it was really one of the more endearing parts of the novel. She is a nice perspective who has picked up an appreciation for pop culture. The rest of the cast are overall fine and their build up is quasi predictable and well-written. There are numerous subplots, which is to be expected with a full staff of characters to work with, but it also means some are more interesting than others. Overall, the book is nice and sweet. The final chapter is actually the author’s “guide book” for Nantucket. So, if you were planning a trip this would be a fun book to have ready first.

WHO SHOULD READ IT: Fans of Elin HIlderbrand. Personally, it was an okay read for me, but friends who really enjoy the author seemed to enjoy it more. Alternately, if you found it laying around a beach house it would be worth a flip through.

⭐⁣ OVERALL RATING:⭐⁣

⭐⭐⭐ | ⁣Liked it to Meh - These are still well written books and for some people they will still like them I, however, found them predictable, okay, or mostly boring. They still have some enjoyable parts and I would probably recommend to certain people. I would have no interest in a reread.

❤️ ROMANCE RATING: ❤️

❤️❤️ | Good story, but they might break up.

🔥 STEAM RATING: 🔥

🔥🔥 | Heating up - References to sex are more overt but not graphic (kissing, a layer of clothing being removed or characters walking to the bedroom and the author will cut to the next scene). Can likely be read by older teens and family members.

I have never been to Nantucket- or anywhere near- but I always hungrily gobble up books by Elin Hilderbrand. This book, like all her books, has several interwoven storylines; characters you love; characters you don't love; happy endings and room for sequels. I love her writing and descriptions of the seaside town, and found the Blue Book at the end fascinating..... it made me want to vacation in Nantucket next summer. Hildebrand is, in my opinion, the undisputed queen of summer reading/Beach reads. As usual, I love this book and cannot wait for future titles- and hopefully a sequel.

5 keys!! What an exuberant novel!! I did not want it to end. I’m booking my trip to Nantucket now!

I thought other readers were being over-enthusiastic when they declared that Nantucket was next on their travel list after reading this novel. Well, I now wholeheartedly agree. The author describes every place with such detail that I almost felt like I was on Nantucket. Isn't that the mark of a perfect beach read?

I fell in love with each one of the large cast of characters and by the end, I was weeping. They had all become like friends! (Not every novel has to win a Pulitzer Prize for it to be thoroughly engaging and entertaining.) Not only did the end of the story mark the end of the final chapter, but I felt like it marked the end of summer: I felt both melancholy and hopeful.

If you've ever been curious about behind-the-scenes of a luxury hotel, then you will love this book. The author skillfully brings together a diverse cast of characters at the newly-renovated Hotel Nantucket. There are the competitive front-desk clerks, each with a story of their own; Lizbet, the heartbroken manager who is determined to win the coveted Five Keys award from the mystery travel blogger Shelly Carpenter; the bellboys; the cleaning staff; the billionaire and absentee owner; and last but not least, the whimsical ghost of Grace, who still haunts the hotel to this very day.

"But who doesn’t love a little summer romance? She just hopes they don’t forget about that article. If they solve her murder case, she’ll finally be able to get some much needed rest. It has been an exhausting century."

There's romance, there's mystery, there's plenty of humor, and of course the star of the story, glorious Nantucket. Plus, there is a fabulous travel guide included with the book written by none other than Elin Hilderbrand herself. I miss all the characters already. Highly recommend!

(Many thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy via NetGalley in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.)

You’ll feel like a Nantucket local exchanging juicy deets on this summer’s gossip. Some secret reveals were less scandalous than expected and there were little to no consequences to characters’ actions.

There's no surprise this story is set in Nantucket, but it definitely follows a slightly different pattern than other Hilderbrand books. The characters intersect but are connected by work and not other relationships, making it interesting to see how their outside lives filter in. The ghost is sassy and enjoyable, and a lot of situations end up in a grey area, making the reader question where things fall morally. An enjoyable story with flawed characters we can all love.

I eagerly await each of Elin's book. The hotel Nantucket gives the reader everything they want in a book. Great characters, lots of backstories romance, and intrigue, a run down hotel trying to reinvent itself, and quirky yet loveable guests. You are rooting for each of the characters and you are even treated to a loveable ghost the inhabits the hotel. As an extra bonus, Elin gives us a list of places to visit in Nantucket. Next decision is when to visit.

Elin Hilderbrand just keeps getting better and better. I've read everything of hers and this title is a real standout. The story has everything to keep the pages flying ... a historic hotel with a ghost, a cast of quirky characters with interesting back stories, multiple love affairs and a satisfying twist for the big finish. Brava!
