I was hooked immediately. I enjoyed the subplots of each character and how they were all in one way or another, connected to each other. It captured the essence of a small beach town and its quirky secrets. I never guessed who the reviewer was! It never came to me until the very last second. Elin, I need more!

There’s nothing quite like lying on the beach soaking up some vitamin D with a great summer read. It may be the third week of August, but summer isn’t over yet—why not grab a fun beach read before daylight hours shrink too much? Elin Hilderbrand’s books are a perfect distraction. New York Magazine dubbed her the “queen of beach reads” for good reason. They are just fun… period. The Hotel Nantucket is a 2022 LibraryReads Favorite, which means librarians voted it one of the year’s best books. I concur.

Synopsis:

After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket went from a gilded age gem to an abandoned eyesore. Then it was purchased and renovated by a London billionaire named Xavier Darling. He hires Nantucket native Lizbet Keaton as general manager who pulls together a dedicated staff who shares her vision of turning the fate of the hotel around: local sweethearts, a college dropout with a secret, a celebrity chef, and a renowned workout guru. Using multiple points of view, readers experience their relationship woes, the challenges of overcoming a sordid reputation, and keeping the place afloat. And then there is the loveable ghost of Grace Hadley who won’t stop haunting the hotel until people acknowledge her murder. It is going to take a 5-Keys review from undercover travel blogger, Shelly Carpenter, to put them back on the map.

“I’ve always thought of mosaic as this big metaphor for my life,” she says. “All these jagged, incongruous pieces…” She holds up a small shard of milky jade-green glass. “These are like the things that happen to you. But if it’s laid out a certain way and if you take a step back from it, it makes sense.”
― Elin Hilderbrand, The Hotel Nantucket

The Hotel Nantucket is a breezy, fast-paced delight with just enough mystery to keep readers guessing. I just couldn’t help but root for Lizbet and her charming staff. One character even has Minnesota roots, and Hilderbrand’s references to my great state were perfect. She said, “holy buckets" just like I do... gotta love it. Incidentally, the appendix provides the scoop on where to hang out on Nantucket. After twenty-eight novels, Elin Hilderbrand plans to retire after her 2024 book, so I, for one, will check it out. The Hotel Nantucket did not disappoint. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company, and Elin Hilderbrand for a digital ARC of this book. Once again, Elin Hilderbrand does not disappoint with her most recent novel. The Hotel Nantucket has it all: Romance, drama, even a friendly resident ghost roaming the hallways. Multiple story lines and well developed characters really kept my attention. A very nice extra is the travel guide to Nantucket the author included. A fun summer read with depth and substance!

4.25 out of 5. Surprisingly this is my first Elin Hilderbrand book, yet it is not going to be my last. After reading this book, I want to get a ticket to Nantucket and spend a week there checking out the town. That is something that I love about books, when they can take you to a new place and either make you feel you were there or make you want to go. This mad ragtag of characters is fabulous, all flawed and looking for something new. You fall in love with all of them a little bit with each turning page. Hotel Nantucket makes me think of Hotel Portofino a little bit and as that one I said made a great show premise and PBS took my advice, this would be a great show as well. Clare, the ghost is probably the most interesting character and I thought the twist was so well done I did not see it coming. A great beach read, especially if you are in Nantucket or a Northeast beach.

I got introduced to Elin a few years ago during Covid, and she provided the most amazing escape to the real world I had ever experienced, and that feeling has me coming back time and time again! One thing about Elin is that her characters always have so much depth, and the story lines are complex and messy and so incredibly relatable. This book follows the a haunted hotel and everyone who works there and it is absolutely hilarious! This book gave you everything you want in a beach read, while also giving you a super fun mystery that you can solve! Definitely a book I wanted to be transported into.

I loved this book!! It was so great. It was detailed to the point that you wanted to visit Nantucket & visit all the spots. I loved the Nantucket stops that were added to the end. I thought this was one of Elin’s best novels. I thought the 5 keys was a nice interlude to rating this 5 stars. I really enjoyed it & it had a few twists that I didn’t expect. Well done!

Hotel Nantucket
I thought I was done with summer reads but I guess not!

Hotel Nantucket has the usual plots of summer flings, affairs, and lots of Nantucket references. But it also had a ghost and several mysteries throughout that kept me turning the pages. There was also a dachshund and that story line made me cry!

Fun and light hearted for summer! ☀️

Travel back to Nantucket with Elin Hildenbrand and visit the Hotel Nantucket, the haunted and derelict place that is bought by a multimillionaire and turned into the place to be. Meet the staff: Lisbet, recovering from a broken relationship; Alessandra, a bad girl looking for something more; Edie, a good girl hoping to make something of herself this summer; Richie, a troubled father who wants to see his kids. Then there is Chad, the rich kid who messed up and is trying to atone for it. And Magda, the head of housecleaning who is actually a millionaire herself. And of course, don't forget Grace: the resident ghost.
All of these folks add up to a fascinating story that will have you laughing out loud. This book was a lot of fun and I definitely recommend. Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read. All opinions are my own.

After I finished reading Elin Hilderbrand's The Hotel Nantucket I immediately wanted to book a vacation to Nantucket. In this unique novel she tells the story of the hotel's staff and their shared goal of achieving the highest possible rating from an elusive hotel reviewer. This is a lovely character driven novel which has some unique characters in it - including a ghost from the hotel's past! I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a light summer read.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for an electronic advanced reader copy. The opinions expressed here are mine alone.

“The Hotel Nantucket” by Elin Hilderbrand is a good summer read - filled with characters seeking new beginnings (some with questionable pasts), a haunted hotel and of course some sizzling romance. As I was reading this novel I found myself rooting for and against various characters and then something would happen and I’d change my mind. There were certainly a variety of twists and turns. It definitely kept me hooked and I had to see how it ended and I’m pleased with how it ended.

Xavier has his sites set on attaining a prestigious travel award and hires charismatic Lizbet Keaton to run the hotel. Lizbet and her team of employees must get past secrets kept, the hotel's poor reputation and the haunting of a ghost to turn Xavier's dream hotel to fruition. Loyal Hilderbrand readers will be happy to reunite with past characters from The Blue Bistro and Golden Girl.

rating: 4.5
genre: fiction
read this if you liked: Golden Girl

review: It officially feels like summer when a new Elin Hilderbrand book gets released. Every year without fail I get excited for her latest book and The Hotel Nantucket was no different. I was immediately transported to Nantucket and felt right at home at The Hotel Nantucket thanks to her wonderful descriptions. I loved that you got a look into the hospitality industry (and how reviews can truly make or break a hotel!) along with the fun side stories of each character. Lizbet was so lovable and I kept rooting her for happiness. Like Golden Girl, there’s a bit of a super natural element to it, but it totally works. I adored Grace and loves that she had a bit of sass up her sleeve. One of my favorite things about Hilderbrand’s books is that she brings back characters & The Hotel Nantucket had plenty of references to characters from her other books… it feels like a nod to her fans who have read them all! The Blue Book travel guide at the end of the book is GOLD and has me wanting to book a trip to Nantucket ASAP! Already counting down to Elin’s next book.

You can NEVER....EVER go wrong with Elin Hilderbrand! She is a rockstar of the literary world, no doubt! This read was just what I needed to get out of a slump I have been in! It was engaging, easy to fall into and kept me thoroughly entertained. I love it when a story becomes like an afternoon spent with a good friend and "restores your soul" with its goodness and delight. This is a book of that nature. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and it will not disappoint!

This story was really captivating! I just think that there was a little too much going on. I love a story from multiple points of view, but some of the points of view didn’t really add to the story in my opinion. Overall, it was a great read though!

Elin never ceases to deliver a great read! I love reading her books, especially during the summer. Hotel Nantucket did not disappoint and it may now actually be my favorite Elin novel! Lizbet felt very relatable and I enjoyed following her growth. Thank you so much for this amazing read!

Synopsis:
After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to a mediocre budget-friendly lodge to inevitably an abandoned eyesore — until it's purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling. Xavier hires Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Lizbet, in turn, pulls together a charismatic, if inexperienced, staff who share the vision of turning the fate of the hotel around. They face challenges in getting along with one another (and with the guests), in overcoming the hotel's bad reputation, and in surviving the (mostly) harmless shenanigans of Grace Hadley herself — who won't stop haunting the hotel until her murder is acknowledged.

This is such a cute, fun, and lighthearted summer story. This was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I enjoyed her process of introducing each of the characters, and hinting to each of their secrets. As the plot progresses, we are given additional details of the motivations of each character as they develop further. The writing of this novel was easy but elegant, and I definitely do not think this will be the last book I pick up from her, especially when I just need an escapist summer read.

A new Elin Hilderbrand is a treat. Hotel Nantucket may be her best book yet. The Nantucket setting, intriguing plot, wonderful characters and page-turning writing are great.

I received an early copy in exchange for an honest review. This was a truly great read. It’s about a rundown hotel in Nantucket that has just been purchased by a billionaire. We see the hotel completely renovated and decorated to the Max. Employees are hired one by one. Which there are many a rag tag group that come to work together to make this an awesome experience. We learn about their personal lives their loves. The new owner gives the new staff a challenge. He tells them he expects for them to receive the first ever five key designation.from a famous hotel reviewer. They had to keep the hotel perfectly clean and staff was to address and fulfill the guests requests in a timely manner, never knowing which guest she might be.yes, I would definitely recommend this book for a weekend read. I used it as an escape to dream about vacationing there next summer. The book gives great tips about interesting places to stay an visit while there.. Wednesday’s at the locally owned book store.p, you not only get to meet the author but she also signs your book. Thanks to NetGalley, Hatchette Books, Elin Hilderbrand and Hotel Nantucket for the opportunity to review early. I would recommend everything she writes..
