Well done to the publisher for leaving out the HEAVY Christian-religion based nature of this book. Never would have picked it up if I had known.

Everyone needs a good friend, and Sister Friends Forever embodies this by diving into the friendship of four women, who are more like sisters. I enjoyed reading this book as it gives you four different women with four different lives who come together and support each other through the good, bad, and ugly.

Another great book. So easy to read and her book make you anxious to turn to the next page. So realistic and her characters always remind you of someone you know. So exciting I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. Looking forward to her next book!

Sister Friends Forever is about Four different ladies that have been friends since they were little and met at church and remained close friends up into their adult lives.

Michelle, Kenya, Serena and Lynette are all going through different issues, and they will need each other to get through.

I was very excited to here that this author had decided to release another fiction book and It was well worth the wait, these ladies had a lot going on and I enjoyed every bit of it. This book was very relatable to things going on in Women’s lives in this day and time. Mrs Roby did a great job introducing us to each character and navigating through their lives.

Four female friends…Serena, single by no choice of her own; Michelle, engaged but questioning her upcoming nuptials; Kenya, married but fighting to be there for her husband and his struggles; and of course, Lynette…divorced and trying to step back into the dating pool. No matter what is going on with their lives, the sisterhood remains string.

One of the things that I loved about this book, is the constant theme of family. When life dealt a hand, family was there to support. This was a reminder that we need this in our lives.

I took my time with this book by New York Times bestseller @kimberlalawsonroby, because I wanted to savor every moment. Thank you for another 💎💎💎💎💎read.

Four best friends, aged forty, have known each other since they were little girls. They meet for lunch on the first Saturday of every month, but their lives are oh so different. Serena was single, Michelle was engaged, Kenya was married and Lynette was divorced. But they all had established careers or owned businesses, shared Christian values and supported one another whether it was praying together or burning a man's clothes.

Sound familiar, right? Yeah, it sounds way too familiar to me too. Sister Friends Forever is the 2022 lackluster version of a certain Black woman classic novel turned movie. But it tried to steer its own course. I lost focus early on because of the alternating narrators. When there are too many, it is very distracting. To follow the story closely and hold my attention, I had to skip around chapters and read out-of-order. Yet still I was left meh.

I loved Kimberla Lawson Roby's famous Reverend Curtis Black series and previous standalone novels. My hopes were up for a page-turning comeback novel. I know Roby is a great writer but this missed the mark. However, it may fancy your reading tastes so read the synopsis and give it a try.

Happy Pub Day, Kimberla Lawson Roby! Sister Friends Forever is now available.

This book really knocked me around. I stayed up super late because I had to see how each friend’s story turned out. Serena, Michelle, Kenya, and Lynette are true friends, sisters even. They see each other through trials and joys. I’ve always liked reading about sisters and friends.
I took a dislike to Serena immediately. Her condescending attitude was so elitist, I couldn’t stomach it.
I physically hurt while reading Michelle’s train wreck, I felt so bad for Chris, really really bad and came to dislike Michelle as much as I disliked Serena.
Lynette and Kenya, I liked, and wow, what twists to their stories. There was a lot about faith in the book, which depending on your views, could be an enhancement or a distraction.
It’s a full emotional spectrum read.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
I had never read Kimberla Lawson Roby before (although I had heard of her), but was drawn to the premise of Sister Friends Forever. The book has a style I’d describe as Christian fiction-lite, with a pronounced theme of defining one’s relationship with God, but with more frank (non-explicit) discussions about sex and its impact on interpersonal relationships (factoring in some of the characters having taken a vow of celibacy), going further than most books from the conventional Christian fiction market.
I love the contrasts in the lives of the women depicted. All of them are Black and about forty years old, but are at different life stages of their lives in the romance department: Serena is single, Michelle is engaged, Kenya is married with kids, and Lynnette is divorced and a single mother. However, each of their situations presents them with different crossroads in their lives and complex dilemmas to resolve. And through it all, they support each other.
It can be hard to balance multiple story arcs, but Roby made each woman’s story compelling. I admit to being most invested in Michelle and Kenya’s storylines, respectively, however. Michelle’s is quite messy, given she was prepared to get married to a guy she thought she loved, until her first love came back into the picture, and there’s familial pressure to choose her current fiancé over her ex, who her parents don’t approve of. And while the “evil ex” is a trope that is a bit one-note, I did like the twists and turns with that and Kenya trying to support her husband in his dealing with his ex and his first son. Lynette is navigating her first foray into dating post-divorce, and may have met someone…although he has some secrets. And Serena is reckoning with being single after a breakup/having been cheated on.
There’s a lot more surprises than I expected, with almost everyone’s storyline having a big bombshell reveal. However, these all contribute to the growth of the characters and their relationships with one another,
This is a pretty solid read, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys women’s fiction and doesn’t mind some inspirational/spiritual elements.

I love a good book about friends and when I saw that Kimberla Lawson Roby’s novel SISTER FRIENDS FOREVER was to be released in 2022, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. The novel centers around four friends: Serena, Michelle, Kenya and Lynette. They are all in their early forties and have known each other since elementary school. Serena and Michelle have taken a vow of celibacy after attending a church conference. Serena is questioning if she will find her Mr. Right as Michelle will soon be united in marriage to her fiance in a few short months. Kenya is happily married with two children. All is perfect in her world with the exception of her husband’s baby mama from hell. Lynette is recently divorced with two teen daughters. She is attempting to rebuild and move on after her divorce with a few interruptions from her ex-husband. With each of them navigating through unexpected situations, their friendship is the one thing they can all count on.

SISTER FRIENDS FOREVER is an interesting and fast-paced read. The plot kept my interest with the surprises and drama. I was invested and I wanted to see how each of their situations played out. The characters could have been fleshed out more because I didn’t feel the chemistry within the friendships from the ladies, it felt more like four women who know each other and meet up from time to time. Despite the lack of camaraderie, I enjoyed the time I spent with these ladie

Lawson Roby has been turning out masterpieces since I can remember, and here in 2022 she is still dazzling us with her creativity.
Sister Friends Forever follows the lives of 4 best friends, Kenya, Michelle, Lynette, and Serena, who have known one another since they were small. Although their lives have been different, it was the church that brought them together all those years ago. Now here they are 40 years old, and each of course has their own life, however with that life, comes hardship and problems. Right now, each can use their sister Friends help.
So, as we are navigating through each friend’s life and love differently, we see:
Kenya and her husband dealing with issues with his son. As they deal with the drama that is coming from his psychotic ex-wife and how Kenya has to deal with that. Now Lawson Roby could have widened this scope a bit, because many women have to deal with the crazy ex-wife, or crazy ex-girlfriend, so she really could have garnered a teaching moment on this one.
Then we have Michelle, who cannot decide who to choose and whether she should get married or not.
Then theirs Lynette who has just returned to the dating world after her divorce. And last, we have poor Serena who just found out she has been cheated on.
What makes Sister Friends Forever a solid book is that through it all, each friend is there for one another. There was not any of the messy between friends’ drama, but an empowerment between friends. As others have said it definitely gave me a “Waiting to Exhale” vibe.
However, Lawson Roby will and has always found her own niche no matter to whom compared. Besides, I am quite certain being compared to McMillian is a huge compliment and vice versa.

“Sister Friends Forever” is the first novel that I have read by Kimberla Roby Lawson. I love novels that focus on friends who pull you through the worst, and this story was a good example of that. The friendship in question is the one of Serena, Michelle, Kenya and Lynette who have known each other since childhood. Here, the women are each facing a pivotal point in their lives.

I thought the author did a great job of understanding the angst of growing older but understanding better what matters most. This was a quick read—I liken it to a refreshing popsicle on a hot summer day. I certainly will return to this writer's backliist to read her other titles.

Three and a half stars.

A group of 4 friends navigates love and life together. we see Single, Married and divorced friends navigate blended families, heartbreak, and celibacy. This is a pretty formulaic book- a little bit of drama mixed in. The writing is overly descriptive which made it a little wordy. A good quick read, a palate cleanser in between books with more difficult themes.

Sister Friends Forever by Kimberla Lawson Roby is the story of 4 friends who are all struggling in different stages of their relationships. Serena has just found out she has been cheated on, Michelle questions whether she should marry, Lynette enters the world of dating after her divorce and Kenya deals with her husband's crazy ex-wife. Through their struggles, each woman has the others' backs as they work towards finding the solutions they need with the love of God to guide them,

This is a book with struggles I can identify with and I appreciated what each character was dealing with.

In Sister Friends Forever, we meet Serena, Michelle, Kenya and Lynette who have been friends since childhood. They have been there for each other through crucial times in their lives but each of the friends are about to face situations that will either bring them apart or knit them even closer together.

I have been a Kimberla fan for years!! I believe I have read all of her books. When it comes to female friendships and drama this book has tons. I finished this story really quickly and I enjoyed seeing the women support each other through all their hardships.

Sister Friends Forever was an enjoyable read. It gives big Waiting o Exhale Vibes and follows a group of late 30/early 40 women as they come of age again in the next phase of life. While the plot was pacey and the different POV were easy to follow, there were times when I didn't feel much when things happened to the characters as they didn't have very many emotional reactions.

This book wasn’t a bad read but I felt it could be better coming from the author. I struggled to connect with the characters and the storyline wasn’t fleshed enough. I’m sure the final copy would be great.
