I’ve read Mary Kay Andrews books in the past and really enjoyed them. The books I read had a charming Southern setting and a lot of romance. So when I started reading The Homewreckers, I didn’t expect to get a bonus: a mystery.

There was so much to love about this one: Hattie and her scrappiness, Hattie and Cass and their amazing friendship, Hattie’s dog Ribsy, the (obvious) sparks between Hattie and Mo, and the community of Tybee Island, Georgia. The mystery – the decades-old disappearance of Cass and Hattie’s teacher – was an interesting and well-developed part of the plot.

Despite the mystery in this one, it was still cozy, and the book was also filled with humor.

If you’re looking for a romance that is a whole lot more, definitely try The Homewreckers!

What a great story set in the historical city of Savannah GA and Tybee Island. Hattie loves to restore old neglected houses along with her father in law Tug and her best friend Cas. They may have bit off more than they can chew when they are approached by a reality show who wants them to complete a house in record time, unfortunately someone may not want them to get the house finished. Deep dark secrets and danger plague the job site. This story has mystery, romance and a reality show, what more could you want?? Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first Mary Kay Andrews book. I've heard such good things but was really disapointed in this one. Flipping houses and falling in love was the perfect plot! I felt disconnected to the main character and her experiences. I think too many small details and day to day things going on to connect with the story line. Felt weighed down by details of the house. No overall life insights. The romance came too late into the novel. Not great supporting characters.

I'm very sorry to say I didn't like this one.

If you love Mary Kay Andrews, you will love The Homewreckers. Mary Kay Andrews is Southern comfort at its finest. Her books are like banana pudding-you know what you are getting, you won’t be stuffed after eating (reading), but you will be satisfied.
The Homewreckers is about Hattie Kavanaugh, a widowed general contractor living in a small town in Georgia. She flips houses. Enter Mauricio (Mo) Lopez. Mo is a TV producer who films shows for the “HGTV” channel. Mo is producing a show called Saving Savannah, and wants Hattie to star in it. His boss, however, proposes The Homewreckers, where Hattie and designer, Trae Bartholomew, will work together (possibly fall in love??), to restore an old historic home.
All goes according to plan until a wallet is found in the wall of the bathroom. A wallet belonging to a woman who disappeared over 17 years ago. And when her body is found, the search for a killer begins.
I enjoyed The Homewreckers. It maybe wasn’t one of my favorite Mary Kay Andrews books, but it’s enjoyable. You know what you’re getting with MKA, and she never disappoints. .
Thank you to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the advanced e-copy of #thehomewreckers.

The Homewreckers is the perfect summer read. It's got romance, mystery, humor and the creation of a dream home set in the idyllic Georgia coast. Characters you'll love and some you'll love to hate combined with a story that flows like floating down the Back River. Reading Mary Kay Andrews is the way I always want to start my summer and her 30th book is one of her best.

I was so excited when I received my copy of The Homewreckers, by Mary Kay Andrews., from Netgalley. There is nothing better than starting the summer with a Mary Kay Andrews book. Hattie Kavanaugh, works with her in laws construction business. She started work with them at 18, married their son at 20 and at 25 she was a widow. She literally has thrown her entire being into working for the company. She had one good friend and no real life if her own. That is until a Hollywood producer comes to town and mentions a possible tv show about flipping houses. She is intrigued with the idea but isn’t really convinced it is in her wheelhouse. But a few bad deals and some debt makes Hattie rethink the offer. Maybe it would be worth the trouble, to catch up on bills. Savannah Ga wasn’t prepared for what was to come with this Reno. A house had to be purchased, remodeled and flipped in a very short time. It seemed like almost an impossible timeframe. Hattie plugs away but at every turn there is a glitch and she doesn’t know how much she has left to give to this project. Can she get the project done? Can she figure out if it’s bad luck or someone purposely trying to set her back? Can Hattie get out of debt and make good on her loans? If you love a good story, that is well written, this boon is for you. I love the descriptions of Tybee Island and Savannah Island. My favorite part of an Andrews read, is you can get lost, for awhile, with a beach read and good vibes. This was a 4 star read for me. It is always a pleasure to read and review Mary K Andrews. I hope you enjoy it too.

MKA does it again with a great book that is more than a beach read. The book surrounds a reality TV show that has the premise of updating and reclaiming an old beach house on Tybee Island. Usually, when a book has this many characters, I get a little lost and have a hard time keeping up. In this book, the mix of characters work to bring a book to life that makes me want to visit Tybee Island. The mystery surrounding the house that is being remodeled only adds to the book in a way that makes you want to keep reading. I recommend this and all of MKA's books Thank you NetGalley for an ARC. #NetGalley

This was the first novel I read by Mary Kay Andrews, and I did enjoy it!
I assumed this would be a fairly lighthearted, cliché, rom-com fiction read, but there was a storyline that came into play that I didn’t see coming that really added an aspect of intrigue. This part of the storyline (no spoilers) definitely does not make it a “mystery book”, but it was a really enjoyable/slightly suspenseful twist to the story. The behind the scenes of a HGTV-type Home Improvement TV show was funny, although a bit cheesy in some parts.
Although I felt this novel was a bit too long for my liking and that it dragged on in some parts more than necessary, I’m glad I read it. Definitely a great summer weekend read.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of The Homewreckers!

Thank you for NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC of The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews.

Hattie Kavanaugh is content in her life flipping old homes in Savannah, Georgia. But after she loses a lot of money in a bad house, she is considering giving up. While nursing her woes over a bad flip, she meets Bo, a television producer who wants Hattie to star in her own show. She reluctantly takes the offer, but begins to run into a series of unfortunate events - a questionable costar, a house fire, and a dead body!

I really enjoyed The Homewreckers. It was a nice mash-up of all the things I love about Mary Kay Andrews - mystery, love, and Savannah, Georgia. The storyline flowed really well and made for a quick read. Great summer read.

I'm a huge fan of Mary Kay Andrews and I was thrilled to get another of her books from NetGallyey and St. Martin's Press. This book has reminiscent of her earlier books with a mystery element as well as romance, comedy, and drama. The setting in Savannah and the renovation of an old historic home on the set of a reality show made for a fun and enjoyable book. Thirty books in thirty years for MKA and I can't wait to read her next one!

This beachy, summer read truly has it all. Contemporary romance (though that’s really not the center of the story), a whodunnit mystery, reality tv drama, home renovation, quirky characters, you name it. It was entertaining, and full of heart and humor. If you’re looking for a light, fun book to throw into your beach bag this summer, this would be a perfect contender.

Mary Kay Andrews does it again. Her latest novel, Homewreckers, mixes a bit of romance and reality TV with a 17 year old murder mystery of a beloved young teacher. I loved the characters and how it all came together at the end! If you like MKA, you will love her latest novel.

I absolutely loved this book. Hattie is a young widow who flips houses. ATV crew films her and her crew renovating a house to flip. What's worse than the deadline fast approaching? How about a dead body. This book is about as strong independent woman finding her way and with a little mystery thrown in. Enrique Andrews is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of the reasons why.

I have a confession. Until reading The Newcomer recently, I had never read any of Mary Kay Andrews’ books. I know. Weird, right? But after reading it, I decided I’d definitely be picking up more of her books in the future, which lands me here with The Homewreckers. I’m a total HGTV reno show junkie, so the blurb drew me in, and even with what felt like a slow start, it hooked me with the plot, characters, and mystery from the beginning. How much more interesting would home reno shows be if they threw in murder as she did here?! I digress…

With summer quickly approaching, if you’re looking for a beach read that’s a little more than women’s fiction, this book is it. It has wonderfully complex characters (some are likable, some you’re ambivalent about until the end, and some you will hate), a plot that’s more than romance, and just the right amount of suspense that had me guessing until almost at the story’s arc. All in all, I say it’s another winner and highly recommend it for your beach/vacation read this summer.

Hattie Kavanaugh works for Kavanaugh and Son restoring homes at eighteen she started , married the boss’s son at twenty and became a widow at twenty five. When a smooth Hollywood producer shows up in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia she gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to star in a beach house renovation show called The Homewreckers, cast against a male lead. Soon there’s more at stake than bad pipes and dry rot. During demolition evidence comes to light that leads to the mysterious disappearance of a young wife and mother years before. The story has many twists to prove who the woman is as they interview people that may have known her. Then the dumpster is set fire causing another setback until they finally get things going again to finish the house. This was a very enjoyable read with great characters to follow. I would recommend this to everyone.

While filming a reality TV show about the restoration of an historic Savannah home, a 17 year missing person investigation develops and unfolds. I consider myself a reality show junkie so I love reading books that also deal with reality shows. This one had all of my favorite storylines in one book; reality TV, a murder mystery/missing person, and a touch of romance. It had the suspense/romance feel of a 90's Nora Roberts book.

While I enjoyed the book overall, I gave it 3 stars for a few reasons. The mystery wasn't much of a mystery. It was pretty easy to figure out in my opinion. It was a bit too long and I honestly thought all the home restoration talk and behind the camera stuff was a little boring. But it's an easy and fun summer read.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this DRC.

How is it possible that this is Mary Kay Andrews' 30th book and yet somehow this was my first introduction to her writing?! Funny thing is I already own a few of her earlier works and you better believe that after reading and loving The Homewreckers I will be tackling MKA's backlist.

The Homewreckers has so may elements that made it obvious this will be a fun, entertaining & engaging read for me: a strong female lead, the right amount of sizzle & romance, home renos, a whodunit/a bit of mystery, a super cute cover and the kind of setting (Savannah, Georgia) that made me want to book a trip there ASAP.

Hattie Kavanaugh became a widow at 25. Now in her early 30s, she works with her father in law and her best friends and channels her emotions into finding houses to fall in love with and flip. (even though her father in law wisely keeps reminding her that she should never love something that can't love her back) When her latest project flops, she is forced to accept an offer from a producer who seems to get under her skin. Hattie is expected to find a new property and host a TV show about renovating it, alongside an interior designer who unbeknownst to her is also meant to be a potential love interest for the sake of TV audience. Beach house she chooses for the show is at a beautiful location but seems to come with all sorts of problems. And one of those problems might have something to do with a cold case.

This book invites you to kick back, relax and lose yourself in a mini reading vacation. The mish and mash of genres really worked for me. Though the cold case aspect did not bring with it any particular surprises (if you read a lot of psychological thrillers you'll know where the story is headed right away) but the story itself was just so engaging and fun that that did not take away from it in any way. This will make such a wonderful beach read - or make you feel like you're taking a mini vacation from your life.

Grateful to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review! Mary Kay Andrews will be making more appearances on my goodreads bookshelves thanks to The Homewreckers! 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
