The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews
This is a great easy read that has a little bit of everything in it. The characters were fun, the location was beautiful, the house renovation intriguing and by the end the mystery was solved. It’s the kind of book that I like to think of actors I would pick to play each part. The perfect feel good book.

Another wonderful summer read by Mary Kay Andrews. This was a fast paced read that had multiple subplots woven throughout.
Mary Kay Andrews does a wonderful job of capturing your attention quickly and holding it throughout the duration of the book. The Homewreckers has a mixture of mystery, suspense and romance. The lead female Hattie, is a strong, independent woman who loves to renovate historical homes in the Savannah area. Her business includes her family and friends and she has immense pride to her work.
She finds herself in a bit of a financial pickle, when Mo happens along her recent property. Upon their chance meeting an opportunity presents itself. Soon enough Hattie finds herself of a new reality TV show along side infamous reality star Trae. Hattie fights to keep control over the reno project and her once wounded heart.
Another wonderful story by Mary Kay, she is an auto buy author for me, so you can understand my excitement for this ARC. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press.

*Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Pub date: May 3, 2022
And eerie prologue plops us into Savannah, Georgia with Hattie and Cass, who are attempting a disastrous renovation on a historical home when Mo stumbles upon their worksite and pitches them for a new home renovation reality show. When they unearth a wallet from a person who has been missing for 17 years—things get interesting.
This book sucked me in from the start and I didn’t come up for air until I was almost halfway through. This cast of characters is well developed and intriguing—a page turner for sure!
Unfortunately this lost some of its luster and focus in the second half. Not sure if this is trying to be a romance, HGTV behind the scenes, or a mystery/thriller…it is an attempt at all 3 and unfortunately the romance side was the least convincing. That being said—I imagine this book will be in many beach bags this summer!

Mary Kay Andrews never disappoints. The Homewreckers is like if a Hallmark movie and an HGTV show had a baby. A delightful mashup with some fun insight into the world of those home renovation shows we all love to watch. There was just enough sizzle that I got a little nervous about who may be reading over my shoulder on the airplane.

I am a huge Mary Kay Andrews fan and her latest did not disappoint. Hattie Kavanaugh is the perfect plucky heroine who is restoring Savannah history one old house at a time. Ms. Andrews always introduces a wonderful cast of characters and the mystery based around the fixer upper that is selected for the HGTV-type show Hattie decides to join propels the story to a fun beach read. I'm planning on buying this for my own mom for the Mother's day as I know she will enjoy it too!

As expected of any book written by Mary Kay Andrews, this book was a pleasure to read. I enjoyed the characters and the banter between them. In addition to having a great story arc, this book is a celebration of friendship and family. I truly loved it.

MKA does it again! I started this book thinking it would be a cute romance but whoa! It had such a twist with a mystery thrown in and the romance was not at all who I thought it would be. This is another great, quick beach read from MKA!

This book opens with Hattie Kavanaugh & Co working on a home restoration project. She was approached by a producer & reluctantly accepted the opportunity to host a TV show on a home improvement channel.
I initially had a hard time getting into this book. I found some of the dialogue to be corny & the plot to be predictable. I became more invested when a body was found- love a good murder mystery. The character development was great- I could picture the story in my head easily. Overall it was a nice read.
I appreciated the opportunity to receive an ARC!

I’m so disappointed. I really wanted to like this but I just cannot get into it at all. I can’t force myself to keep going. This was my 2nd book by Mary Kay Andrews. The first book I read by her was Ladies night and I loved it. Thank you NetGalley!

What a fun, enjoyable book!
This has it all, bit of a mystery, lots of drama, some laughs, and everything in between, even an adorable dog! Highly recommend!
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Gah! I loved this so much. I feel like this is "classic" Mary Kay Andrews and I loved everything about it.
Set in Savannah and Tybee? Check.
Plucky female characters who know exactly who they are? Check.
An adorable doggy? Check!
This is the story of Hattie, a licensed contractor who renovates historic homes in Savannah, Georgia. She hasn't had the easiest life but that doesn't stop her from loving her chosen family and her life. And I absolutely love that.
Then Mo comes to town. He's a producer of home renovation shows and he thinks Hattie would be perfect for his next show. Can he convince her that she is?
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a nice story, a little bit of drama, oh!, and throw in a murder mystery. You've got all of the ingredients for a lovely read.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Another MKA win! I loved following the story of Hattie, Cass and the cast of Homewreckers through all of the drama that unfolded at the site of the historic house that they are restoring for their tv show. This book had all the good stuff, home design, relationship drama, old secrets and crime solving. I never skip a Mary Kay Andrews book with good reason!

I would like to thank St Martin's Press and Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book as an ARC. I have never read one of Mary Kay Andrews books before. I am going to start looking for them now! This was a cleverly written book. It starts with a prologue in 2005 . A woman is going to meet her illicit lover. She is planning to break it off, but she never gets to the meeting. Someone attacks her first. The book then switches to the present.Hattie Kavanaugh is living in Savannah Ga. When she was 15, her father was convicted of embezzlement. After he went to jail, her mother changed their last names back to her maiden name and moved to Florida. Hattie stayed in Savannah, lived with her best friends family and married her high school sweetheart. Hank Kavanaugh's family ran and construction company. Hattie and Hank worked in the company until Hank died in a motorcycle accident a few years after they were married. Hattie continued working with Tug, Hank's dad. She is interested in flipping houses.Maurizio ( Mo) is from Los Angeles. He has developed shows for the HGTV type network and is looking for the next big thing. Hattie and Mo have a 'meet cute" as Mo falls through floor boards in a house Hattie is renovating. Mo wants Hattie and her crew to renovate a house in a show to be titled Saving Savannah. Rebecca , from the network has other ideas. Trae is a designer from another network show and Rebecca is looking for a slot for him. Rebecca comes up with an idea- The Homewreckers- starring Trae and Hattie. They will renovate a house together and hopefully have a relationship. There are a lot of subplots going on in the book. The story of the woman from the prologue becomes a major plot point. Hattie's love for flipping houses has her in bit of a financial crisis. Her friend Cass, also part of her crew, has some secrets. The previous owners of the house that Hattie buys to flip, has a reason to want the house back, and they have secrets of their own.Not all of the plots are tied up successfully. There were a few plot holes and loose ends I wanted tied up.However, the character of Hattie is well written and engaging. There is enough romance and fun to make it an enjoyable beach read, despite the presence of an unsolved murder, a less than trustworthy network producer and some unsavory characters. I really liked this book and want to read more by this author.

Such a fun beachy read! I didn’t want to put it down, if you enjoy diy shows I think you’ll love this one too.

I absolutely love Mary Kay Andrews a.k.a. Kathy Hogan Trocheck and this new novel does not disappoint! Great read.

The Homewreckers is a good read heading into summer. It will be perfect to read on the beach, or while on vacation. It is a quick and easy read, written with Mary Kay Andrews charm. I really enjoyed the setting that the author set, I could image Tybee Island and the Savannah, Georgia area, though I have never been. The history of the town and the people in it was interesting too.
I really liked the mystery in this book, but I struggled with parts of the story, specifically the romance. I didn't feel any chemistry, or even relationship developed with the love interest, which led to it not being totally believable. I also felt that there were parts of the book that dragged a bit, things just went slowly in some part.
Though the romance wasn't my favourite, character development and relationships were top notch! I loved the relationship Hattie had with her in-laws and how they really were truly her parents. Her friendship with Cassie was awesome and what best-friendship looks like. These friendships and relationships really helped understand what type of character Hattie was and how and why she related the way she did to others.
Though this wasn't my favourite Mary Kay Andrews book, it was still a solid read, especially for the summer season. It was an enjoyable, quick read, that was interesting. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advance copy. All opinions are 100% mine.

I loved this book! The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews is a little DIY home makeover mixed with some mystery, a dash of southern charm, and a heavy helping of drama. I took this one with me to the beach and couldn’t put it down.
Hattie Kavanaugh has been fearlessly renovating houses alongside her father-in-law in Savannah since she was eighteen years old. Hattie finds herself desperate to recoup the losses on a recent house flipping failure right at the same time she is sought out for a reality television show. Despite her hesitations, she goes through it and her latest project may find her digging up some past along the way.
You won’t want to miss this one. It’s fun, dramatic, and has that all around easy summer reading feel. Get yourself a copy on May 3, 2022.
Many thanks to Mary Kay Andrews, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

I can always count on Mary Kay Andrews to write a book that's not only relatable but addicting! That's how I felt for her previous novels and still how I feel after reading The Homewreckers! If you enjoy a summer/beach read then you can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend it!

Prediction: This will be one of the best beach reads this summer! Mary Kary Andrews delivers again with this story of finding love and house flipping. Add in a murder mystery and reality tv. And then there's a lot of laughs too! A fun read with a touching plot.
The main character, Hattie Kavanaugh, makes a living restoring houses - working at her father-in-law's company. She is a widow who sunk all her savings into a money pit of an old house and she loses her money and her confidence. Then she gets an opportunity to star in a reality tv show with a handsome male lead - she just has to scrape together enough money to buy a house in need of restoring for the show and hopefully, make some money both on the show and the house. There are a lot of hurdles, and then there's an old murder mystery that raises its head. Overall, a fine beach read.
I found Hattie to be a strong characterd who is admirable in her determination and courage facing obstacles. I also really enjoyed her love for Savannah and her unwavering work ethic. I despised one character and I won't say who because I'm sure you will despise the same one. Hattie's best friend is just what you would want in a good friend - cast perfectly. The descriptions of the houses in Savannah provide atmosphere and a perfect backdrop for this story.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on May 3, 2022.

I am a huge Mary Kay Andrews fan and always look forward to her new novels. ‘The Homewreckers’ takes place is Savannah, Georgia and highlights a behind the scenes view of a reality television show that restores a 100 year old beach house. The story in compasses, romance and a cold-case murder mystery. I unfortunately found the romance aspect a little unbelievable, and murder investigation a little unrealistic. However, the story was an easy read and a great book to add to your beach bag this summer. I look forward to reading MKA’s next book.
